As the newest instalment to the franchise the game had it's ups and downs. To begin with the game had a notoriously bad launch on some of the higher population servers rendering it unplayable for some users. However this is to be expected in any MMO game experiencing high server stress over a short period of time. The game itself so far has received mixed reviews. To begin with the levelling content was for me a little linear in some zones however that being said I really enjoyed exploration in Gorgrond and Nagrand as well as the general quest chains in these two areas specifically. The game also introduced the Garrison feature, for me personally I do not care much for micro managing but the feature was implemented nicely and has a large number of players actively using it.End game PvE content, the PvE content is standing the test of time, at the time of writing this review the expansion has been released for around 5 months and fewer than 2% of the player base has downed the last boss in Highmaul Mythic difficulty (the initial raid set on release - or just after). So the PvE raiding content seems to be doing just fine in terms of completion, this seems to be exactly how a raid should be doing at this time.Additionally the 5 man content has been enjoyable for the majority of it, the mechanics were implemented in recycled ways with a few exceptions ( Guldan's fight was particularly interesting the first time and likewise the previous fight). I have yet to attempt the challenge modes but the Mists of Pandaria challenge mode content was difficult enough to keep me satisfied whilst farming the armour sets for each class. My only complaint here is that whilst levelling particularly in the early levels there is nowhere near enough dungeons available to the player to enjoy before they out level them. Finally the PvP content with the ability pruning has had it's ups and downs on a class to class basis. For example the loss of shadow blades for Rogue has been a note able reduction in their offensive capabilities, considering the number of rogues above 2900 rating in the 3v3 ladder it has not negatively effected them in any way. The loss of instant CC effects on some classes such as hunter (Scatter shot) has led to an increase skill cap, requiring communication to effectively use traps. However in classes such as Destruction Warlock the removal of various abilities has left them unplayable in the competitive scene, however we are still in the early patches so it is hard to tell if these issues will be addressed in the near future and how gear will effect this. For the moment the game is in good shape on all fronts, for anyone who enjoys raiding or melee focused PvP this is a mandatory buy, for those of you who enjoy cast focused PvP perhaps wait until some issues have been addressed unless you want to be bottle necked into playing either Frost Mage or Balance Druid unless you enjoy a more challenging experience.

Very sad to see people giving this a negative review based on the server issues that were experienced at launch. This ALWAYS happens so I don't know why people were so surprised. Suffice to say this has calmed down now, as it always does. What we're left with is a really good expansion to a really really fun game. The Garrison content is one of the main selling points here. It basically lets you create your own instanced "castle" that only you have access to (you can invite your friends in via grouping though). Within the castle you can place various buildings that all have various functions. These are upgradeable over time. It's kind of like your own mini-city. I have an inn, a stables,a herb garden etc. Incidently, I'm a Jewelcrafter by profession but even though I have no Herbalism skills whatsoever I can still grow herbs in my herb garden, pick them within my Garrison, and then use them for those all important Jewelcrafting recipes - a nice touch :) There are other options available here such as daily quests from NPCs around your Garrison and you even get a specific Garrison Hearthstone which you can pop to return you there at any time. One other important feature of the expansion is that of "followers". These are basically computer characters that you pick up along the way. You can deploy them on missions for you that reward loot, money or xp for you or indeed your followers - yep, they need to level up too! This is personally one of the most addictive features of the expansion for me. You send them away to do missions, log out, then return a few hours later with loads of loot etc to pick up. I've found myself logging on before dinner, setting a load of missions off, eating my food, then returning for the loot...but maybe that's going a bit far? :P So yes, in case that wasn't clear - your followers will continue your missions for you even when you're not logged in. Very cool. There's a plethera of new content here. The Garrison alone will keep you entertained for hours, but there's loads of stuff to do at the new 100 level cap too. The game is definitely steering more toward the casual gamer too so if that's you, you might want to consider entering the fray. After what I consider WoW losing it's way somewhat, I'm happy to say it's back on track now and this is a good solid, and relevant expansion.Don't be put off by the early negative reviews, which are basically damning the infrastructure, not the product itself. Everything is fine now, no server queues, no sizeable lag. It's all generally smooth - and it's bloody fun :)

Previous review belowHaving endured 6 hour queues for the first week you can now log on almost immediately and boy is it worth it.There is little doubt this is BY FAR THE BEST WoW expansion ever, just so much more of everything. Why 4 stars?Because in amongst all the loveliness Blizz STILL can't get away from the "Bring me 8 basilisk hearts and 6 demon eggs" type quests. But seriously if you can look past that this really is a must purchase now the server issues seem to be fixed------------------------------------------------------------------------Quite frankly this is a disgrace.Blizzard seem totally indifferent to massive queues (currently 4900 Estimated time 688 minutes)When you finally getin the game is seriously broken with the new content laggy and no way to get into your garrison.Add to that once you've completed the intro section (about half of level 90 - 91) it's straight back to "Fetch me 10 basilisk hearts and 4 blocks of wood.I naively paid for 6 month subscription, never realised that was how long it would take me to get on.EDITI see a lot of 5 star reviews claiming Blizzard have fixed the queues or suggesting it's somehow my fault for choosing a high pop server.I am on Draenor where I have been for 10 years all my chars are there so what's the point of starting a lvl1 on a low pop server as has been suggested? As I write this (Monday 18.45pm I have been queuing for over 5 hours and still not got on)Yesterday (Sunday it took me 6 hours+ to get onSaturday it took me 6 hours+ to get on.My youngster started queuing at 1pm today and got on after an hour.So basically if you work for a living and don't start queuing around lunchtime forget any chance of playing in the evening, Join the queue after work and you might get on by midnight

Since the launch has now been comcluded and I've had time to play this game, I thought it was only fair to update my review. Here is my original review below. I thought I'd keep it because it is exactly how I felt about the game within a few days of launch:---Purchased this. Arrived promptly but I can't play it. If you can connect to a server at all you are in a 4 hour queue, and then once you get to the front of that queue, the game is entirely unplayable because of server lag and NPCs not being visible.Perhaps after a few weeks it will get better but I strongly recommend avoiding this until Blizzard sort out their servers. Don't forget it's around £30 for the game but you also need to pay £10 a month---However,now I feel that I can actually review the game itself and I think this is so far the best leveling experience of any previous expansion. The Garrison feature is amazing. It effectively allows you to feel like the commander of an army, rather than just one of the few guys that follows the main protagonist of whatever storyline is going on around.Server issues all seem to have been resolved now thanks to whatever Blizzard put in place to help take the strain off the busy realms. There's a lot of really good features and although I'm still only level 99 and have not stepped foot in a battleground, arena or raid yet, the features and storyline alone look like this really could be the best expansion yet.I've updated my rating to 4 stars. If the launch was smoother then it'd get the full 5 for the game alone. Fingers crossed it still works ok when the raids are opened!

Warlords of Draenor has been (in my opinion) one of the best expansions of World of Warcraft to date. The quest lines are engaging with many (some epic) cinematics that help progress the story along, and the environments are breath taking. The Garrisons content gives you something to work towards in the downtime between questing and exploring (and also pads your wallet to buy nice things). Many of the 1 star reviews are from people who tried to play during the initial few days after the expansion went live. As most players of WoW will remember, most previous expansions had similar problems when they first went live. It is mostly to do with the massive influx of players who are wanting to play and experience the new content immediately at launch. It's not a bad thing to want to do that, but when millions upon millions of other people have the same idea you have to expect some bugs. WoW's subscriptions had been dropping off in the last few years, and so Blizzard were not expecting the amount of players that did turn up. They have already admitted to that and are now putting things in place to ease these problems (both new server hardware and software).

I used to play WoW years ago everyday... then once i finished uni and had to go get a job, i couldn't play anymore. As the game was a bit like having a job, as you had to go farming for materials, or reputation points, or experience or whatever else... Things alwyas took ages to achieve even when played everyday for hours. SO eventually I stopped playing completely, as I jsut couldn't be bothered to spend months on getting things. Since the launch of WoD, i re-installed the game and while on my holidays played everyday, got to the highest level and I could see the difference that they've simplified the game a lot. I kinda like it now more as I find it's more aimed at casual players who only have an hour or two to play everyday, gold is also very easily earned (i've earned 150k in just under a month by simply doing orders and selling them using the garrison, which i spend about 15 minutes a day). So I now can finally afford to buy things that always were too expensive, like mounts and pets. SO really, im not complaining at all. But I can imagine that if i was an all-day everyday player, i'd probably bit a bit bored.

My review is going to be based on the actual game, not on the issues that blizzard is currently experiencing with the servers. The game is great, the gameplay, scenery, amount of things to do within the game is just fantastic. Absolute must buy. It is an incredibly smooth and nice looking game, and a huge step up from previous expansion sets.To clear up what has been happening. Blizzard has been forced to cap the amount of players that can play at any one time, on different servers. This is due to DDoS attacks and the sheer amount of people attempting to play. When you consider this game has about 7-8 times the amount of people playing it than the next competitive MMO, it's really not suprising.Yes it may deter you from buying, however if you're reading this 2-3 weeks from my posting, you're fine and good to play. Just dont pick a FULL server when you make your character or you're going to experience atleast some issues from time to time with the servers, but not the actual game :)

This is an incredible expansion - tons of new features and an ocean of content. Levelling can be done a bit quickly but veterans of the game know that this is only scratching the surface. I did have to move servers (free transfer) to avoid the huge queues on my server, but overall a brilliant addition to WoW.I wasn't a fan of the last expansion (Mists of Pandaria) and Cataclysm wasn't all that great, BUT this expansion - so far - is worth every penny. The poor reviews are nearly all down to technical issues, but these are quickly becoming fewer and fewer and don't affect everybody. The lore is a little out of sync if you're following the Warcraft story - but the high budget cinematics, the creative quest lines, the new features, world bosses, the subtle humour of NPC's and the overall atmosphere all makes up for it.So, go reactivate your account and get it :)

Great expansion for World Of Warcraft! HOWEVER!!!! There have been several issues of logging in to play.. this set aside, once you are in the game and playing the story and gameplay are amazing. you can tell that Blizzard have spend a lot of time and love making this expansion to an already expancive (and expencive!!! :P) world for us to explore! Managed to play several hours so far (lucky me!)As said the only issues that I (and others) have had, are the long queue times (somtimes topping over 5k! and average wait times going several hours on the most populated realms) the intermittent lag issues seemed to have been resolved, and the once broked garrison seems to be working (although sometimes will freak out!)All in all,a most impressive addition to the WoW world and Lore! We get to see Thalls' Daddy for goodness sake!Lok'TarSee you in game!!

The only DVD you need to get the whole series onto your PC. I bought the whole series one by one as they became available (love Pandaria world - the graphics are fantastic - but then I love oriental buildings etc.) - I digress sorry. When I bought my new PC I obviously wanted to download all my WOW onto it, but I put a couple of DVDs in and also their respective serial nos. then it would not load properly - but after contacting Blizard they told me only to put Wardlords of Draenor disc in and it would upgrade itself to the full lot.I do have an account with them so whether that makes a difference or not I cannot say.I really love playing WOW,being disabled the game really helps you forget your pain for a while and takes into another world.I Also like playing Star Wars old republic too.

Excellent expansion! My server is medium population, had a bit of lag and the occasional issue with garrisons at launch but everything is perfect now. No queues, no missing NPC's, no issues at all.All these negative reviews are based on people playing on high to full population servers all wanting to play and why wouldn't they! This is one of the best installments in the series. Adding some great new mechanics with an amazing storyline. Fighting against and along side some of the greatest hero's and warriors in Warcraft lore. Including some truly draw dropping moments in the story accompanied by cinematics.5/5 all day long a must buy!See you on the front lines!Lok'tar ogar!

Due to a huge amount of people returning to the game (and new players) and recent cyber attacks on Blizzard servers the launch has been a bumpy one. However, the game itself is great and with the new hardware upgrades to the servers which are in the works we should start to see it working brilliantly in a few hours. Without posting spoilers the WoD levelling experience has the most immersive story experience of any of the expansions so far. We get to see many characters (old and new) and experience places we've only seen on older games or heard about in books!5/5 for Story + New features + Gameplay.1/5 for Technical Issues (which are been fixed)

The Expansion is very good though it may lack a few thing the other expansions had it has improved in many ways that you will notice especially if you were playing in the pas as well. The graphcis are updated also and to be honest i play this game since 2008 but not periodically and there are still things and fun to do in world of warcraft. Those that dont like it should play some other game already! its normal to be bored if you play the same thing all the time.Anyway for me its 5 stars i always enjoy coming back to wow even if that is for a while though i would like to stay a bit more in this expansion.

21.4.2015

If you have WoW, or are getting into it, you really couldn't go wrong with this expansion. In my opinion this is top of the last for the World of Warcraft expansions, Wrath of the Lich King and Mists of Pandaria coming close seconds. The sheer amount of depth to the new environment of Draenor along with the new quest line is immense. Rich story telling, amazing plot. As a person who's favourite faction is the Horde, favourite race being the Orc, an entire expansion that centers around them is just superb.Buying the expansion on Amazon is half the price of the official WoW site!!

16.11.2014

Wasn't that bothered about this with halo and call of duty coming out the same time. Glad I did. This is an amazing game and by far the best expansion pack so far. Without a doubt there is problems like queues on popular realms and sometimes when playing you so come accross glitches like quest givers not coming up. That is to be expected. If your playing on a realm that was high before then it will more than likely be locked, waiting 4 hours to play.Blizzard is contantly fixing the problems that came with the launch.Overall an amazing game and can't wait to get back to it
