Compared to ARMA 2 operation arrowhead, so far: first moments of playing the game I notice some differences immediately. In the campaign mode for mission "Inception" I am given a feeling of immersion in a dynamic environment. There is wind blown dust and debris floating and flying through the air around you in some kind of inner city war zone; I imagine what Iraq could be like in zones. Your first task is to regroup and you start out alone in this mission. This campaign and game version has a much more realistic feel to it than operation arrowhead. I find the enemy AI so far to be far superior and life like encountering the first few resistance...they seem to be hiding around buildings,popping out and then running through alleys for cover as they advance on my position. This version of ARMA feels a bit like an enhanced GHOST RECON. All the while mortars screech in and explode around the area near and display a very nice plume of dark smoke and dust that hangs in the air blocking view beyond it for a few moments. Nice effect; although they seem to be drawing down the frame rates a bit with my two 550 gtx cards, although keeping the resolution at 1600x900 seems to help smooth things out. I am also noticing that the gun shots sound more realistic from your weapon as well as it being easier to control.I will update more as I play5/13/2012 1:12AMI am now starting the other campaign that is included in this version. It starts out with you in command of a platoon on the hills near sunset. You have limited enemy infantry straggling around the hill side. Your goal is to make it the the rescue helicopter that you can hear in the distance as you target enemy and your team continually reports back to you. Commanding the platoon to board the chopper (nice chopper effects with the dust)you follow and the game begins with a display of the creators on the screen much like a movie opening. Very good feel of immersion and realism so far. I can almost picture the energy and lifestyle of these soldiers and myself on the battlefield. A battlefield not with you at the center of this world, but instead; you get the feeling of report and instruction; as well as leadership in the command interface of the troops in your platoon.A short helo ride with your troops back to the base as you disembark and step outside take in the view of the desert and the mountains in the distance as the sun gets low in the sky. Making your way to your newly assigned medic on your way point marker I hear an Apache fly in slowly from the distance and come in for a landing over the base real slow and careful. There is a living battlefield it feels like; with troops coming in from scouting missions perhaps.

All in all Arma games have had some ups and downs and notably you often need to wait for patches to make them bug free and more polished . Not this one its fantastic fun from the start and is the best thing since hot buttered toast.As usual the editor in this Arma standalone is just full of seriously bad ass hardware {tanks, choppers, you name it!} and hours of fun can be had setting up missions and fighting through them to test how good they are ,sometimes its so good i just set up a battle and run the mission and watch! Very good very polished and a must buy for military sim freaks everywhere well done Bohemia interactive.

This contains two really fun DLCs for Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead; BAF and PMC- both offer some great new content and each features a well-polished and highly entertaining campaign. PMC's campaign is especially good and the strength of its story line stands out above many of BIS' other campaigns. I would definetely recommend for fans of the Arma series.

This i a smashing game for the pc.But you do need to learn how to play it.To get the most from it.(ie dont try to go in all guns blazing)It runs perfect on my pc.My specs are as below.Windows 7 ultimate NQuad core cpu.4 gig ramgtx 280 graphics card.22 inch hi def monitor + a 50 inch plasma tv.

If I ever get out of 'Boot camp' I will be happy. I really enjoy the graphics detail and at least when I finally master a skill I get some satisfaction.
