I bought this game in 2010, I have my reservations about the game, if I was able to load the game and such like so I read up on how to load it into my system mine being "windows vista".I must say it was a doddle all you have to do is to log on to your Battle.Net account, if you don't have one just create one. When you load the game into your system you then just log on to your Battle.Net account (don't try to play the game yet it will not work) then once you have registered the game in Battle.Net just go and get the updates on this page and the updates will start automatic.Good ah!! what you have to do then is run on 265 colours or if you have windows vista run on th "Medium setting" not the"32 bit setting".The game starts with this setting.Ok once you get over the bad graphics compared with todays mmo's you find a GREAT game. The graphics are basic by todays standards it's like being back in the spectrum days!! hehe sorry showing my age, but I have played thousands of games from top notch P.C mmo's to the ds games so you could say I have a lot of experience. To be honest I have been playing video games since they first started taking off in the 80's.I had a day off work and spent all day playing it until the wife came back, so as you can see it is a great game if you see it through.I bought this game because I have been waiting for about 2 years for Diablo 3 to come out couldn't wait any longer so I bought this for next to nothing will be getting the expansion pack as well, another game cheap as chips at the moment. So there you have it if you haven't tried it, try it, you have got nothing to lose mine only cost about £6 and I think the expansion is about £5 gaming on the cheap I say.HURRY UP DIABLO 3 PLZ!! TIP: IF YOU FIND THE COLOURS IN THE GAME THROWING A WOBBLER IE; ALL THE COLOURS OF THE RAINBOW ALL OVER THE SCREEN JUST PRESS THE WINDOWS KEY ON YOUR KEYBOARD THIS BRINGS THE GAME INTO YOU TASK BAR AT THE BOTTOM JUST CLICK ON YOU GAME IN THE TASK BAR AND THE GAME RUNS GREAT.Cya byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Plot: You get to choose from an Amazon, Sorceress, Necromancer, Paladin or Barbarian and the game pretty much involves you starting with nothing and gradually building yourself up over time with spells, weapons and armour. All are customizable. The better you are, the longer you will last. You are then tasked with going into different dungeons throughout the game gradually working your way to the end boss in each. If you are constantly dieing, you will need to go back and level a bit more but if not then you're set to go.There are different settings throughout the game and each one brings with it different quests, enemies and scenery. The setting doesn't change enough for you to not be able to cope but just enough that it keeps you on your toes.Graphics: Great for the time when the game came out and there are still some bits that make you stop and look but overall quite dated. This game isn't really about the graphics anymore though.Controls: Pretty simple. One mouse button for this, the other for that. All there is to it really. Although it may sound a bit boring, it gets quite addictive after a while.Lifespan: Depends on what you want from it I guess. If you want to get to maximum level and get the best gear possible then you're looking at month's worth of game. However, if you just want to complete the quests and stop after then you're looking at about a weeks worth of game if you're doing an hour or two each day. There's also the option of choosing one of the other classes to try out or maybe playing with your original character but choosing a different talent tree to specialise in.Although I didn't experience it personally, you can play the game online either with people or against which again could give you limitless options.Overall: I had a couple of bugs but overall a great game that's well worth getting especially seeing how cheap it can be bought for today. Definitely a classic from its generation.

This game is must have for many people's collections. It is a fast and furious game which transports you to a world where evil is trying to take over. You can be one of 5 different classes, and although the story line is the same for each - there is a huge variety in the style you play (amazons stand back from the fray, while barbarians throw themselves in!).This game is a huge improvement to Diablo 2 (which I wasn't a big fan of) so it should appeal to old hands as well as newcomers.Character development is simple, as you kill things you gain experience, once you have reached a certain amount of experience you will raise a level. This gives you one skill point (to put on a skill of your choice)and five stat points (for you to distribute between various stats). This gives you a huge variety and no two characters are alike. There is a huge variety of items which are classed as either, normal, magical, rare magical, set or unique. The uniques are very in demand on the online games (so you can use them for a spot of trading!)The multiplayer is probably the best bit, playing with other people over the internet is great, (and you can also get some good free items off other people!!) you can kill each other or aid in a quest it's completely up to you!Contrary to what some people have written, this game is not designed to be a strategy game, it is basically a hack and slash. The only aspect of strategy is which armour you will wear, which skill points will be put where. Not "how do I get out of this stupidly huge dungeon".The one fault I could find is that it is slightly repetitive - you have to play the whole game three times to finish it totally!Apart from this though the game is a really good buy, I have had it since it came out and I am not sick of it yet!

One of my favourite hack-and-slash RPGs finally gets converted to Mac! A gem of a game that every serious fan of the genre needs to own.In true RPG style Diablo 2 offers you the chance to pursue all of the classic roles associated with RPGs; the spell-binding Sorceress; the mighty Barbarian; the holy Paladin; the evil Necromancer and the ferocious Amazon!Apart from nicely rendered graphics and a gripping storyline, a large part of the fun in Diablo 2 is being able to watch your character grow: getting a new spell for your sorceress or a new creature-summon for your necromancer soon adds a necessary high to your gameplay.Another interesting element in Diablo 2 is that you are largely in control of your character's development. The creators of the game evidently took a leaf out of strategy games' book by including a kind of "technology tree" for when your characters level up. Their development is not linear - you must choose where to specialise. Perhaps you want your sorceress to have ultimate control over the realm of fire, foresaking perhaps her knowledge of lightning and ice magic. The range of weapons in Diablo 2 is practically infinite. As you fight enemies and creatures of increasingly high levels, so your chances increase of finding an equally high levelled weapon or armour. In this way, you have complete control over what kind of character you fashion. You can play into the strengths of each character set or, for an interesting spin, play against them and see what happens. That's all part of the fun with this game - you have control and you take your characters' development where you want it to go.Great game! I would most definitely recommend to Mac users.

Diablo II is undoubtedly a very well made game and it is tones of fun. It's not as open-ended as some of today's RPG titles with little else to do other than the main quests and the occasional side dungeon for loot or levelling, but its playability makes it one of the easiest games of its genre to jump into. Most of the action is controlled by the mouse buttons or a decent on-screen menu system and the simple stat based levelling up makes Diablo II perfect to pick up and play for half an hour or a big 3 hour slog.Single player is fun, but can become tiresome and repetitive if you sit at it for too long. The game however, shines online.Even nearly nine years after its release Diablo II still has a thriving online community and you can easily find players of a similar level or set up a private game to play with your mates. The online gameplay is well thought out. Its' here that the character classes come into their own and you'll want a good spread of different types in your group to stand a chance against hells minions. The game does have the occasional bug, the graphics are out dated and there is the occasional bout of lag online, but I'm over looking those and palming them off to the age of the title. For Windows Vista users there's decent help on the Blizzard website and patches to download if you want to play the game on the operating system.Overall it's a brilliant title and perfect if you're new to the RPG/Hack and Slash genre or if you want to prepare for the release of its sequel coming later next year.I strongly recommend it.

Todays RPG market is poor in my opinion, the best RPG's around such as Oblivion etc... offer very little depth and variety compared to Diablo 2 (A game 5 year its senior).Diablo 2 was groundbreaking at the time of realease and remains one of the finest games you will ever play, known as the game that boosted the image of RPG it offers everything that you could want in that genre, 5 awesome classes, tons of spells 7 items plus an epic storyline that is sure to leave you wanting more. Not many people have missed out on playing this title but if you have I strongly suggest purchasing this now, it is not the most demanding PC game ever and will run on almost and system. The game itself will offer you a good 20-40 hours of gameplay before you even feel like you've slighty made progress.Without doubt the best RPG of 2001 & it still remains one of the finer RPG titles even today.

Diablo 2 is a non turn-based fighting RPG and although it is a little dated it is still one of the best games there are. its basic elements are based on quests that are giveb to you by non player characters. it has loads of gothic dungeon like enviroments that are underground like the first diablo but also has inviroments that are above ground. it also has 5 fresh new character classes with unique abilitys. one of the best improvement is that instead of just the one town there are 4 lush new worlds - the homeland of the rouges, the egyption desert, a jungle rainforest and hell.and the multiplayer mode which supports up to 8 players in one game always gives you a reason to keep coming back formore.

This game is without a a doubt the best game I have ever played. I'm a seasoned gamer, playing 1st person shooters, RTS, RPG's and most other genres. This game surpasses 'Final Fantasy' and 'Fallout' on my RPG ratings. Its also fast paced, meaning its hard to get bored with. I played this game for 2 years, every evening for 3 hours. Since then I've had to buy a new copy (Long Story) and I'm enjoying it as much now as I did when I first started. It has so many levels of gameplay. You can just play the game through, or tone and tweak your character to a specific purpose, i.e. Magic Finding etc.Well worth the money

Forget people saying this game has no strategy, thr's loadsa strategy......should i invest my skill points in an ultra powerful golem? or should i use them to create effective curses to leave the enemy helpless? With more characters, huge worlds ( and with the expansion pack, EVEN more of these ) this game is amazin.Definitely worth the price, i bought it at full price ( over £30 ) and i'm sure i got my moneys worth. Just buy it!!!

What can i say about Diablo 2 ? this has to be one of the greatest games i've ever played . Its a classic battling against daemons with a choice of five warriors all with there own skills , strengths and weakness . I'm normally not a fan of these kind of games but i keep coming back to this over and over . This came is top rated and i would always tell people to go for it , it maybe old but still holds its own .

This is one of those games which is just pure FUN to play. It makes no pretense at being anything heavy or complicated. The gameplay is SPOT ON. I have played this to completion with the various characters and i wanted more. Even if they released Diablo 3 with the same graphics (admittedly VERY dated) but with more scenarios, characters etc i would be happy. 9 years is far too long to wait! keep it simple!

I've played a lot of games on Mac and most of them on PC platforms. But strangely enough I always end up playing Diablo 2. Don't ask me why. I really don't know. But the truth is that even after all those years I just love it.The fact that the game is still doing great is that a new upgrade is being tested right now.My favorite game ever... except for "Pacland" that is... but that's another story

18.10.2005

I first played this in 2001, and in 2005 have come back to it and found it as immersive and as fun as ever. It's accessible, fast, atmospheric, and still has a sizeable online community following. This is going to steal a fair few hours of your life, and you'll be able to run it from most pc's, it being an older game. The expansion pack is also a worthy addition, and recommended.

22.10.2010

I bought 11 copies of this game for myself and friends, and it is SO MUCH FUN! The map never stays the same, so it's like a new adventure every time you play it! Hours and hours of fun await you with Diablo II

One of the greatest games of all time, with an addictive skill and ability upgrage system that means bedtime becomes very late. Now (at time of writing), £6.66, does someone at Amazon have a sence of humour!
