This is a good lamp and I'm delighted with it but it does take some getting used to. The light from it is very white and cold, quite different from the standard bulbs in the Anglepoise desk lamp I had previously. Walking into the room when only this lamp is on creates a harsh, cold atmosphere similar to some LED lamps. However once you get used to it the lamp gives an excellent, clear light for reading or any other close work, and all colours can be seen accurately and clearly. In fact one criticism is that it shows every speck of dust, every fingerprint on my desk!The other point to note is that this lamp is supplied with a good, heavy, weighted base, and also a clamp to use on the edge of a desk,

I took delivery of one of these last week and it is fine so far , have to say I was be bit put off by the review posted udder the same model but black finish where it was stated that " When turned on the lamp is flickering, vaguely. But so much that I noticed instantly" Then I relied that the light is florescent which always flicker when first turned on! Mine does but ONLY when first turned on.Another review was" The light from it is very white and cold, quite different from the standard bulbs in the Anglepoise desk lamp I had previously." Well it's a daylight lamp so that should not have come as shock.It you want flicker free on startup and a warm light source buy something else.I just wish

As I am interested in watercolour painting I find it frustrating that the natural daylight is so poor and short during the winter months. To work under normal electric lighting is annoying and frustrating as colours can't be accurate, not to mention the strain on yourself.I am pleased that I have purchased this lamp which has enabled me to work in good ( daylight ) lighting and continue painting even after sundown. When first switched on I found that it is a white light which is given off. When working under this light I am able to see colours much better and progress with the work. The lamp can be positioned above the work without being an obstruction,

Hi. Just set up a basic Art Desk and Easel and bought this Lamp. So far I have to say I am very impressed with it. The light is very white, great for detailed drawing. Has a good light coverage and is very bright.The arms all move nicely and when fastened in position, stay in that position.I have used the clamp provided and it does the job of holding the lamp in position. If I would have one niggle, it would be that a white lamp, should have a white or cream clamp, instead of a black clamp.Over all I think it is super value for money and I hope the bulb provided lasts, making this an all round brilliant investment. BTW.

A good lamp; when used with a daylight fluorescent bulb casts a nice pure white light. Ideal for close-up work such as fine drawing on paper - and is fine to use close to my computer monitor.Only gripe is that the lamp itself doesn't swivel very well. Fine tuning the lamp position isn't great but all in all I'm pleased with my purchase. Oh, if I'm being really picky, the plastic casing to the bulb is a slightly more 'yellow' white than the metal supports and stand but life's WAY too short!!

I do like this lamp 5* but there some unfortunate negatives.1. This is my 3rd or 4th lamp. (First was from a visiting optician.)2. Why so many? Well, the iamp has a weak spot. It snaps , and the lamp is left hanging.3. The transformer gave up its ghost on my last one. Also, the tightening nut stopped working.So, nothing is built to iast these days, I reluctantly accept that, but this lamp gives me daylight in an otherwise dark room.To recap, it is sturdy apart from that one weak spot.

I previous owned a lamp of this type, unfortunately the transformer failed after eight years use. The Daylight Lamp Co. was unable to offer a spare part to repair, and they were unable to offer a repair service. This lamp is used to illuminate watercolour painting in the Winter in my studio when daylight hours are short. To continue my hobby as an amature painter during the Winter, I have bought this as a replacement lamp as it fulfils my needs.

I just built an office in my garden and installed 7 overhead lights as I do a lot of reading. The lighting was inadequate so after a lot of searching I bought this lamp. It solves the problem really well. I recommend it as a good reading lamp.Since I wrote the above about 2 years ago I have since bought another of these for my office and one for home. Am just thinking of buying a fourth. I have had no problems - not even a bulb has failed.

A great light output, makes reading in dim conditions easy on the eyes, can be directed fairly precisely. The mechanism is very retro/functional so not an elegant object to have around but likely to last for years. The assembly instructions for both methods of mounting are poor but it is a fairly easy process. The unit is powered through a transformer which protrudes from a power socket by some 5cm which could be an issue in some instances.

Delivery spot on! Lamp is as good as promoted on site. Build quality excellent and white light very bright. Not cheap but quality pays in this case - go for the ones costing half this price if you want cheap but don't expect such solid quality . Stays where it is put; heavy base makes it very secure. I agree with another reviewer that the black desk clamp should be white for a white lamp but since I am not using this it is no problem.

This lamp with the brilliant daytime day time lamp has allowed me to read even old books that has discoloured pages. The light is very well made and fully adjustable. I used to have an LED bedside lamp but the output of this Daylight Company product superseded my expectations. I am very satisfied and happy to recommend it to anybody contemplating a specialist reading lamp that will cost five or six time more.

The lamp was a Christmas present and I was delighted with it. It was the easiest thing I have ever been required to assemble and is capable of instant and effective adjustment. A most inredible light is obtained from it and this takes little time to become used to.I now find it far mnore acceptable than the normal lighgt source I was used to for so many years.

A good lamp for my mother who struggles to read her books in the evening. There is an initial flicker when the lamp is turned on and the base of the lamp does take up a lot of space on her bedside table. But it's good for the price in comparison to other fluorescent lamps, and it is not made from cheap plastic.

This is a well constructed sturdy lamp with a bright bulb. I use it at work to lighten my desk. The bulb creates a clean crisp light with no yellow which is good for the screen. One issue I have with it, I ordered the white to match my Apple kit, it is actually Magnolia or Cream, but not Brilliant White.

This is the second lamp I have bought from Daylight Lamps, the first being the floor standing type. Both purchased for my 89 year old disabled mother whose main remaining pleasure is her reading. Both of these lamps have proved to be a huge success and she says they have revolutionised her life.
