How can something SO SMALL be so dang quick??? Windows is booted up before I can blink, and no waiting around for start-up programs to load, nope, not with this bad boy! Once you hit the Desktop (8-10 seconds flat) you can be playing a game 4 seconds later.I never knew playing my games on an old Western Digital HDD was wasting so much of my life waiting for windows to boot, and sitting at loading screens with a disgruntled sigh, whilst picking my nose.... waiting, and waiting. This tiny magical stick has changed my life. It's the shape of a ram stick, but around 4 times smaller, and about 2-3mm thick.Benchmarking it shocked me. over 3000mb/s. I thought my 2.5" SATA SSD was speedy at 400mb/s.As long as you have a relatively new Motherboard which has a Gen 3 M.2 SSD port you are going to thank me for reccomending such a piece of hardware. This is INSANE!It seems like every time they make something smaller it gets faster/better by an order of magnitudeI only got the 500GB one, my trusty Kingston 240gb SATA SSD, and a 7200rpm 2TB BarraCuda with a 256 cache SATA HDD.I think nearly 3TB of storage space should be enough for now, yet one can never be sure with some games taking up over 100GB of disk space now. Maybe I'll grab another of these (a 1TB one....just to be sure).Honestly, I think our governments are in contact with aliens and jacking their technology. I remember buying a Crucial MX100 256GB around 6-7 years back, and being in awe of the speeds......read speed of 415, write speed of 319, and a mixed speed of 288, Now we have something 90% smaller, well under a decade later my read speed is 2673, write speed is 2350, and mixed speed of 1524! 10 times smaller and 6 times faster. We need to get into Area 51 and steal that alien technology, QUICK!!!! LOL

Bought to upgrade my partner's PC. Partner's comments:If adding as an extra drive, no problems. If replacing the drive with the operating system (Windows in this case), the system can be cloned from the existing drive to one of these devices. It took about an hour to clone my 1TB SanDisk Ultra II drive to this one. Once cloning is complete (the software is available from Crucial if you don't already have it), make sure to shut down the computer and disconnect the original drive. It is possible that there will be issues with driver configuration, Crucial are helpful and there are documents to help.In my case the cloned image would not boot so I just installed Windows from scratch to the new drive.I had a backup of all my documents and pictures on an external drive.Acronis, who make the cloning software that Crucial supply, recommend a full system backup as the preferred method of getting the old system onto the new drive. I did not try this, and it does require somewhere to backup the full drive to.Now my system is working, copying large files is very much faster than on the old drive, and starting programs is also noticably faster.

An incredible change! It replaced a standard 2Tb hard drive that had been used in the PC from new, about 5 years ago. It’s a high spec video editing PC running Windows 10 Pro, 32Gb RAM and separate hdd’s in RAID 0 for video files.I was drawn to this from a review that showed how the price had dropped recently. I was pleased that my Gigabyte GA Z170 motherboard was advanced enough to make it compatible (even though 5 years old). It was a simple matter fitting it to the motherboard then using the provided Acronis software to clone the original C hdd to the SSD, disconnect that drive then boot from the SSD.The speed difference was amazing! From fully booting up in about 30-35 seconds (previously about 150 seconds)and doing everything so fast.A fairly accurate comparison would be the time to clone a hdd to hdd of 9 hours using USB 3.0. Then the hdd to SSD about 90 minutes!!!At roughly 4 x the cost of a mechanical hdd, its not cheap. But the feel to video editing and Photoshop use is amazingly improved.

Easy to install, ordered wrong one at first ,( you need the nvme not the m.2 -The m.2 will have 2 notches, the nvme has only one notch )you can see the old 250 gb on right & just loosen 8 screws on bottom of laptop, pry apart the bottom from the case carefully like opening a clam :) you see the empty spot upper right where it goes. just a pocket screwdriver that you use for the bottom plate screws is the same as the single one for the harddrive they dont strip if you have a good one. I used a flathead pocket screw driver to pry apart the case & bottom. if you really wanted you could upgrade the ram for $50 but i think 8 gb is fine for home & small buisness use. Shopping, school, using our stores remote cameras, teamviewer ect this laptop is great & the only ones avail right now are the 250 GB ones so this is a great upgrade! Go into the bios, disable secure boot & made a bootable zip from microsoft & then installed linux mint for dual boot.

Brought this to replace a 250gb m2 boot drive, i put the crucial drive into an external enclosure and used minitool partition software to clone drive. Removed crucial drive from external enclosure and fitted to motherboard turn on enter bios no crucial drive found. Remove crucial drive refit into external enclosure and plug into another computer power on and left for 10 mins restart and power off . Removed crucial drive from external enclosure and fitted to motherboard turn on enter bios set crucial as boot drive reboot into windows. 1st time i had to power cycled a new ssd the other times were after bios/filmware updates.all other

For some reason it came in a P1 box, as attached on the screenshot, main reason for four star rating.Nevertheless the model seems to match and speed somewhat too.I couldn't quite squeeze the numbers through CrystalDiskMark which are stated to be supported, however it seems to run in the similar ballpark, although rather inconsistently. I blame the fact that I have a rather dated Z170 motherboard with a quite old BIOS.For the money, I think it's a rather solid SSD for gaming.Once my P2 will arrive, I will update the review with comparative numbers

Easy fit to Dell 4770. Recognised by Win 10 - initialised by Disk Management - drive letter allocated. Used within the Dell as my software installation disk and as a fast temporary drive for video editing. Existing Dell SATA 250G SSD drive used for Windows only. All my own data held on plug-in drives. I made no attempt to install Win 10 on the Crucial SSD. Please note no M2 screw supplied with the Crucial SSD memory to hold down the 500G NVA strip in the M2 socket. Additional purchase needed.

This product was perfect for me, well packaged and free Cloning software from the Crucial website made the update path very simple! Works well in my Dell Laptop which met the compatibility test, so basically plug and play and very quick to do.This is the third laptop I have upgraded with Crucial SSD's and all went smoothly without any issue and perform well.Conventional 'spinning' HD to SSD provides an amazing performance boost.

Good value for the money. The only issue with the drive that I can find is that it runs rather hot--even at idle.Since I installed the drive in a Dell Optiplex 7050 MT, I added a heat sink to it, and it dropped the temps 11 - 12C.Since adding the heat sink, the drive has not gone over 47C, which is reasonable. No throttling or freezing at that temperature. The performance, even over a SATA SSD, is exceptional.

I used this drive to swap out the blade SSD in a 2017 27” iMac, used with an adapter for the stock iMac port on the logic board.Using the BlackMagic disk speed test I’m getting speeds between 2500-2800 read/write. Performance is as I expected. No concerns at all with formatting the drive or getting started with it in this setting. no sleep/wake issues in the iMac. Very happy overall.

If you are looking for a NVMe SSD buy this over others like the P1 or WN550. This has built in Dram and controller with SLC cache. For just a little bit more price this SSD is miles better than its DRAM less compitition. Also the TLC flash is better than the QLC counter parts. Using it for variety of work loads like coding and gaming and this ensures fast performance in all scenarios.

I bought 2 of these for my HP zbook g3. These little ssd sticks are faster than a regular SSD. I wanted one for just the OS and one for all my steam games. I also have a regular crucial ssd installed for pictures, documents, and music. So I have 1.5tb of storage with 32gb of ddr4 memory. I play games with an egpu box. It's a razer core x with amd rx 480 4gb oc graphics card.

Very fast. Had some inconsistent performance at first. Read reviews about thermal throttling so I purchased one of the heat sinks with heat pipes and a PWM fan on it. Extremely fast and no issues anymore. DO yourself a favor and make sure you have good cooling and this thing will fly. It is nice not having to worry about space anymore.

Great little drive, great for its price, instantly allowed me to play games I never could before, taking loading screens on even huge complicated games down to less than ten seconds.Easy install with the know how, simple push fit, along with Crucial's free cloning tool for your old drive Acronis, would reccomened using that.

I'm tech savvy but was worried about replacing a laptop SSD - first time doing that in such a tiny laptop. The Crucial website was really great and let me make sure that this SSD would work in my Dell XPS 13 (9380). Worked perfectly and I'm quite satisfied - can finally have more than a couple games downloaded at a time.
