Even with a usb to M2 SATA adapter sitting on my desk in the open air the Crucial Storage Executive program says it is 78 C when copying large files too, 33 C when just sitting there. I haven't even tried installing it in my computer yet.

SSD prices seem to be falling into the realms of affordability at the moment so I snapped this up during a sale. I had just bought a new laptop and I wanted to replaced the spinning drive for a quieter more efficient drive. and this fit perfectly. I've kept the spinning disk in the machine for extra storage but it's almost always in power saving mode as there's nothing on it yet, but when the machine isn't particularly under heavy load it's near silent now. Installing this into the laptop did entail removing the entire base cover of the laptop to access the M.2 slot, but this was easily achieved. I also used some third party pre-cut thermal pads between this drive and the motherboard,

I am used to dealing with blank uninitialised disks but this one came apparently set up as an HP system disk with four unwanted partitions (from my point of view) including a system recovery partition and an EFI system partition together totalling 599 MB of effectively wasted space.Removing the EFI partition was a bit fiddly and took some time. After doing a search for how to delete an EFI system partition, I resorted to using the Windows 10 command line utility "DiskPart" which did the job and also successfully removed the other unwanted partitions.With the full 1TB now free and fully available, it is in USB3.0 to M.2 enclosure for use as general purpose mobile storage. Mission accomplished!

This is the second SSD I've bought, but much better value than the first. 1/2 a Terra of brow dabbing speed for white knuckle gaming.One thing that was different to my first SSD is that this one is completely inert when installed. It is not activated, formatted or in any other way 'awake'. It's Crucial You download Crucial's version of Acronis cloning software. Note: You do not need to clone anything but Acronis will find and fire this puppy up for you.Another thing, if this is to be your Windoze install disk, switch virtual memory to a standard hard disk to prevent Win wearing out your precious SSD with endless read writes,

Bought the 250gb M.2 SSD - If anything i'm regretting not getting the 500gb!Prior to this, I was using HDD as my boot up drive and for games - the difference since upgrading is worlds apart.My computer now loads in less than 10 seconds, with games also loading near instantly. The overall responsiveness and snappiness of the system for general use is a lot better also.Excellent product, i'm delighted I finally made the decision to upgrade. My only advice is that I would get 500gb minimum if you're planning to use for both your OS and for gaming etc. The 250gb I got is almost full already

I bought this SSD to upgrade my Alienware laptop and oh boy... it is not a laptop now, it is a rocket... I could easily put numbers forward like how quick it is but this is not very important for every day user, the important is that it does not get hot to slow down and works flawlessly no matter how long computer is on and how hard it works. After over 6 month since I installed it and 6 month of everyday work with 4K multimedia using this SSD I can strongly recommend it without hesitation to everyone who need reliable and fast solution. Perfect. Thanks Crucial :)

Easy to install, put it in a acer aspire 3 that was running sluggish and was horribly slow at browsing and watching YouTube or Netflix. This ssd alone has turned it into a lightning fast browsing laptop. Completely improved it, its night and day. Also comes with a link to cloning software to copy your OS onto it and that was also a breeze to use. Just ordered another one for our 2nd laptop

Easy to fit once I Google how to open my Dell InspironOnce installed I downloaded the free version of Acronis and cloned my Windows to it, worked first time without a problem.Booti g up my Laptop or resuming from Hibernate takes a couple of seconds as opposed to 1minute with my old HDD

Works perfectly, is noticeably faster than the original (Toshiba) in the MacBook Air. I have no doubt it will be every bit as reliable as all the previous Crucial memory and SSDs I have bought in the past. Definitely my default memory/SSD brand

Bought this for my parents laptop which was struggling with a stock 128GB SSD. It took longer to install windows than it did to disassemble the machine and put it back together.Excellent value for money and it works really well.

Easy to install and set up with clone of W10 off HDDFitting to M'board was tricky, Asus had located a crystal can inside the drive outline. A longer screw, a nut and a strip of thin cardboard completed the job.

Great SSD for the money always a worthwhile upgrade especially in something like a laptop can make such a big difference to the performace and less than £100 for 500GB what a steal

Great ssd from crucial. My pc is faster than ever. My only criticism from this purchase is that it would be good to highlight that if you are upgrading you'll need additional kit.

Let people know they’ll need an adapter to connect and also be able to know if the laptop is suitable for combining the storage spaces or the former would have to be removed
