A 'luxury' version of the standard Century II, with a gold-plated nib and trim, but otherwise identical. The standard Century II was recently purchased, a first-time ownership experience with the brand. An older model from the 60s or 70s had been used as an office pen many years ago and then found to be as good as the Parker 51 personally used, not the same feel or design but equally satisfying in the hand. An initially non-functioning Medalist model was recently gifted, needing a thorough clean from dried ink having been put away for some time without emptying or cleaning, and is now functioning as if brand new after a thorough flush-through and nib-soak.Performance wise it is no different than the standard model, just providing a more up-market appearance and perhaps better-suited as a gift. It will accept only Cross ink cartridges and the Cross 8756 screw-in converter which then allows use of any brand and colour of ink without being restricted by the few offered by Cross. The nib is a very smooth and positive writer, reliable and the pen is slim and lightweight. It may be an ideal choice for those who find heavier and bulkier alternatives too tiring to use for long writing sessions. If there is any negative aspect is that it sells for about three times the price of the standard model, rather high for a small amount of gold-plating.

I received this pen from my late Aunt in 2003 ( I chose it) so it is very precious to me. I use it most days, I keep it close and receive many comments from people when they notice that I use the 'Real Thing' as opposed to the normal ball point used and loved by many. I have never had any trouble with it whatsoever, I have used it with both cartridges and ink filler. The cartridges obviously more convenient if I go on holiday. I did however, have the security at the Airport remove them from me on one occasion. I think everyone should own a fountain pen at least once in their life, the pride one feels in taking it out to sign forms or write a cheque is enormous. Would highly recommend.

My Cross fountain pen is of the finest quality as is always the case with this extremely good manufacturer (I'm not being paid or coerced into writing my comments, honest.). I have purchased quite a few Cross pens over the years and still have most of them, except the couple that were stolen. Having tried out my new pen I find it glides over the paper beautifully, improving even my writing. The construction is of a very high standard, so much so I can say that this is a product that will last for years. Oh, by the way, their customer service is absolutely terrific, although you'll only need to contact them if you have broken you pen yourself. Thank you, Cross.

I recently purchased this pen with gift vouchers to treat myself after I had received a Cross ball-point pen as gift last year. This is a very nice pen to hold, it works faultlessly and is nicely balanced. I think it comes with a medium nib which suited me, I am sure other nibs are available. Finger prints tend to mark the casing but are easily removed with a soft cloth. I own lots of fountain pens by Parker and Mont Blanc etc, this however is one of my favourites. Just one point the ink cartridges are quite small and wouldn't last long if used continuously, I think an ink filler convertor is available. The lifetime guarantee is a handy feature.

I received the product yesterday, as it was estimated. It arrived promptly, in the afternoon. It was packaged well and safely. The pen is stored in a very nice box and it is protected by a simpler one, so the labels and tape that are on it does not destroy the nicer one. I've tried the pen, it writes well. The pen is a gift for my boyfriend, I think it looks elegant and suitable for a man of 23.I would recommend that the engraving of the product can be optional and free of charge. Even, if there is a small cost I would not mind paying for it, it would make the present more special.

I’d forgotten how wonderful it is to write with a fountain pen, it took me days to decide which one to buy. I know that Cross are a fantastic Company with a lifelong guarantee, but it still took me a while to decide which Cross model I would get. I chose perfectly for me, I even seen to be a much neater writer with this pen. It’s very stylish and feels great in your hand perfectly balanced, It’s not too wide, but for me it’s better than the slim models, the flow of the ink is perfect. Just ordered my line a day diary, I’m really looking forward to all my writing.

I was unhappy with the first pen I received as it was writing a bit thick (with a fine nib). Got a replacement and was better. Then purchased a Waterman Hemisphere - similar steel with gold platted nib. For a short time I thought the Waterman with fine nib was better. After about an hour of continuous writing I was 100% sure the Cross was a lot better.A solid nib that does not bend with every writing line and a lifetime warranty! Also, does not scratch/cut my pages!Would happily recommend as a daily office pen that has quality!

It's a very nice pen. It feels heavy and is small in size. I purchased it because I was tired of buying boxes of 20 pens then losing all of them. By purchasing a pen of this quality / price, I will look after it!It feels so good - just pure quality! And from the description, it contains 23 karrat gold!!! As well as this, you get a lifetime warranty.I dropped a star because the gift box was very nice and I wanted to keep it. Unfortunately, it was taped and the tape ripped parts of the gift box.Highly recommended!

I was extremely pleased with this pen, which I bought with my birthday money in February. It looks really good, is well-balanced, and writes beautifully. It is stylish and attractive to look at, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends and family. I could see, however, that if you like a largeish, chunky pen, this might not be for you, as it is a little on the small side, but I actually found that to be a plus point. An excellent product all round.

Third Cross pen ..1st was 'weighted' and felt odd to hold, 2nd came without the presentation box and the plastic 'hook on the wall' box had been opened....so 3rd time 'lucky'..or not ! Yes, it's a nice pen but the presentation box had sellotape over both ends so it was impossible to open it without damaging the box....disappointed about this because it's for a xmas present. Bit disillusioned really..not with the pen itself but with the Amazon service.

Simply great, including this pen I have two A. T. Cross fountain pens and I really enjoy using these products. Whilst I would agree I use my fountain pens indoors and not on the move, I think the cartridges are much better than the replenishing refill. The cartridges can be carried quite safely in ones brief case and be ready for insertion when necessary. When in use the cap fits the pen body securely and is a nice piece of "kit" to use.

I have had this pen for a year now; it looks great (no wear on the gold plating), is a nice medium size and weight, writes beautifully and consistently, and has been virtually leak-proof despite being carried in pockets, in laptop bags, on aeroplanes, taken cycling and occasionally dropped. This is by a distance the best (and least leaky) fountain pen I have had, and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

19.5.2013

Pen writes nicely and smoothly...although had to wait a few days to try it out as it wasn't supplied with a single ink cartridge, which I feel is poor given its price tag (even cheap razors come with a blade to get you going!). Feels nice enough when writing and light, though don't like having to use force when replacing the lid: feel this could be smoother/softer. The pen looks elegant and expensive.

No problem with this purchase - came to time as advised. Thought I was going to have to send it back as couldn't get top off at first but it was just a very tight fit. I love the pen - I have had one before for many years but unfortunately it disappeared before Christmas so this is a replacement. Writes beautifully and is always admired in the office. Shame it's made in China though!
