One of Cross's larger and heavier designs, probably suited to those who find the Century II either too slim or too light and is a far more inexpensive alternative to the Townsend. It shares the same nib with the Century II and the same filler/converter should you desire to use bottled ink. A couple of cartridges are normally supplied but, while the ink is of good quality, the cartridges have a rather small capacity and replacements can therefore be frequent and cumulatively expensive. Cross pens tend to write rather wet, laying down a little more ink than the minimum required. Although the nib is steel and inflexible, it is very smooth on paper - a Cross feature. It hasd a minor design flaw in that the cap is not very secure when posted, although fine when capping the pen. The end of the barrel is a rounded, extended cone and the chrome surface probably too smooth to provide a solid grip. The pen's length is moderate but should be usable by most with the cap set aside. For its price, it offers very good value and the chromed steel finish to all major external parts give it an executive appearance. From some suppliers, it can actually be cheaper to purchase than the Century II and so is worthy of consideration.

...You wanna grab one of these. You really do.I'm a pen freak, bordering on the obsessive; I have a Mont Blanc, several antique Parkers and other renowned fountain pens, but I have never felt to pleased with a pen since picking up one of these. It writes like silk and you'll be looking for reasons to use it.Unlike other "chrome" pens, including some of Cross's own range, this one is made entirely of metal (no plastic nib end, in other words) and has a nice weight without being too chunky to hold.I have now devoted my life to it's worship, and I have a shrine in my shed devoted to the ATX. Blood sacrifice might be a bit strong for some people, so keep it under your hat. I didn't tell you nuffin',all right?Anyway, grab one do; you won't need another.Smug, I am.This is toooooooo frothy to miss. Gettit.

I made sure I'd read reviews and asked qustions of other buyers before going ahead with the purchase of this pen. I didn't want a slimline pen, or something that is "scratchy" to write with. When I opened the box and picked it up for the first time, it was much lighter than I expected it to be. This is not a criticism, just an observation when compared to the really heavyweight Cross pen I already have. I expected the build quality to be more substantial like the pen I already have. Having said all that, the pen is silky smooth on the paper, and a real pleasure to write with. From a writing experience point of view, the nicest fountain pen I've ever owned. At 35 quid odd this is a no brainer----a bargain must have.Seller was prompt with free delivey too!

This was a treat to myself and I wasnt disappointed.Lovely pen and one of several Cross pens I've owned (and sadly lost some). This is very comfortable in the hand and the diamond / machine turned finish makes the grip very pleasant and musch nicer than the higly chromed or plastic barrelled models. There is a flat on the side of the top of the pen - this is definitely for engraving (due to the diamond cut surface making engraving very difficult I suspect)Writes like all other Cross pens (as a refillable pen should) and the propelling action is lovely and smooth.

It's a very beautiful high quality pen. It's well made and a very fine instrument. There are quite a few refill options available which is nice. My only complaint is the fingerprints. They are immediately very obvious, which I should have guessed because it's chrome. You have to polish it after you touch it. Because of this it's going in the special occasion evening bags - or perhaps desk jewelry for light usage. Your hand would slide down with prolonged writing. It's quite eye catching and impressive though. Was this review helpful?

Lovely pen, simple design, well made without being too expensive. If I lost it I wouldn't be happy but at least it wouldn't cost the earth to replace. This pen is a really good deal at this price point for.-It's a twist action ballpoint so no annoying clickety, clickety.-Good wide shape in the hand without too much width.-Changing refills is easy. You remove the top half unscrew the refill and put a new one in it's place. Quite secure.-Fits penloops from Leuchttrum1917 perfectly incase you want to attach it to a notebook.

I use to like buying lots of different pens, especially when they have something nice to look at or have something cool about them. I bought pens ranging from $20 to $350+ but stopped collecting. Now I'm thinking about starting out slowly again and this CROSS will definitely not be the last. They have some other amazing models in store that I will end up buying for sure. Experience wise a very nice writing and smoothness to their ink. Pen feels nice not to grabby in regards to the "Machined" knurls. Definitely recommend.

Having received the lovely Cross ATX fountain pen as a retirement present, I decided to make the most of the exceptionally low price on Amazon to treat myself to this matching ATX ballpoint pen and pencil set. It was delivered in record time and I am delighted to say the three items are absolutely stunning and all work beautifully. It is such a pleasure to write with them.In fact I feel as excited as when I was given my very first fountain pen at the age of 10 ... not so long ago!

I bought this pen for £50 from another online retailer. It is lovely to write with and gives wonderful silky transfer of ink onto the paper. I would advise purchasing the ink converter and using that rather than cartridges as I have had some that clog up quite easily. That problem does not happen with bottled ink, and if it did, you can just dip the nib in the ink bottle to restore flow.At £38 this is an absolute bargain.

Beautiful pen to write with. I love the black clip and tip as most fancy pens come with gold or silver clips. The pen is nicely weighted and feels good to write with. The ink is very smooth and does not go in blobs when you write.I am very tempted to buy another one maybe the black one.The flat part near the clip is for engraving but it looks fine even if you don’t engrave it

Very nice. Love the dark finish to this ballpoint.Pens are personal to each individual so i will only base my review on my experience with this ballpoint. I love it the only tiny little critique I personally find is the ballpoints barrel is slightly too wide for a perfect in hand experience for my writing style.I still think this is a superb pen and really Recommend it.

This is the perfect gift for someone who has everything, hence why i bought it as an anniversary gift for my husband! This cross pen is made of fantastic polished chrome and is quite weighty therefor it writes beautifully. The pen comes in a very nice gift box and includes 2 black refills. It arrived within a few days and was exactly as described

What a nice pen! I have several fountain pens, including some big names such as Waterman Carene, a Pilot Vanishing Point, and a Parker Ingenuity. But this is the smoothest fountain pen I've every used. No irritating skipping, no leaking. This is a quite fashionable and a very smooth pen. It's highly recommended!

This is one of the smoothest writing pens I have ever owned. It is an absolute pleasure to write with it. IN fact I find myself looking forward to the times when I can put the computer aside and use the pen. It does cost more than your average high street fountain pen but you get what you pay for.

This is a very nice fountain pen. It is very stylish compared with the tanks that Cross used to produce and writes very well, probably due to the Chinese influence. After all they invented writing well before Americans were fighting Indians and produce very good pens in their own right.
