One of Cross's larger and heavier designs, probably suited to those who find the Century II either too slim or too light and is a far more inexpensive alternative to the Townsend.It shares the same nib with the Century II and the same filler/converter should you desire to use bottled ink. A couple of cartridges are normally supplied but, while the ink is of good quality, the cartridges have a rather small capacity and replacements can therefore be frequent and cumulatively expensive. Cross pens tend to write rather wet, laying down a little more ink than the minimum required. Although the nib is steel and inflexible, it is very smooth on paper - a Cross feature.It hasd a minor design flaw in that the cap is not very secure when posted,

I had extremely high expectations when I picked out this pen.Knowing the quality of Cross and owned a few before this purchase, I went to look for a pen that was perfect for me and this was exactly that.My hands are of normal size (for lack of a better description: not big like a construction worker's, or small like a lady's hands). This pen had the right thickness, it does not feel cramped (small) or heavy (and bulky).I was researching different ink-writing instruments. Many are outrageously expensive and they do not fit my preferences. It all came down to this particular one. I wanted one that is polished and smooth, has a touch of gold trim, and quality (durability)

I was looking for a Cross .05mm lead pen and I found this one on the Amazon site. I ordered it and the first one I received was a .07mm lead pen. I used the online chat system and I was given a return number for the product. They sent me a second pen and again it was a .07mm lead pen. I removed the sticker on the bottom of the box and it had .07mm printed on it. It seems as if someone has mislabel this item. Don't get me wrong this is a very nice pen set and I have decided to keep it. If you must have a .05mm lead pen then this set is not for you. If you have no preference, then by all means I would recommend buying it. I must say that the return personnel for Amazon was very helpful and I was very pleased with the service.

You really do.I'm a pen freak, bordering on the obsessive; I have a Mont Blanc, several antique Parkers and other renowned fountain pens, but I have never felt to pleased with a pen since picking up one of these. It writes like silk and you'll be looking for reasons to use it.Unlike other "chrome" pens, including some of Cross's own range, this one is made entirely of metal (no plastic nib end, in other words) and has a nice weight without being too chunky to hold.I have now devoted my life to it's worship, and I have a shrine in my shed devoted to the ATX. Blood sacrifice might be a bit strong for some people, so keep it under your hat. I didn't tell you nuffin',

I made sure I'd read reviews and asked qustions of other buyers before going ahead with the purchase of this pen. I didn't want a slimline pen, or something that is "scratchy" to write with. When I opened the box and picked it up for the first time, it was much lighter than I expected it to be. This is not a criticism, just an observation when compared to the really heavyweight Cross pen I already have. I expected the build quality to be more substantial like the pen I already have. Having said all that, the pen is silky smooth on the paper, and a real pleasure to write with. From a writing experience point of view, the nicest fountain pen I've ever owned. At 35 quid odd this is a no brainer----a bargain must have.

Great writing tool. All the impressive looks you come to expect from a chrome pen, but none of the slippery handling because of the matte finish. Instructions are pretty straightforward regarding cartridge insertion. Does not contain the screw in converter (allowing you buy your own bottled ink and fill it yourself), but those only cost about $4-5. I ordered 2 online and bought one that I found locally. The medium point is more like a regular bold. My next one will definitely be a fine or extra-fine nib. The ink included in the cartridge is sufficient to write with. A bit scratchy, and will run in water. I bought a vial of Noodler's American Eel Black ink, a bulletproof one (meaning waterproof).

It's a very beautiful high quality pen. It's well made and a very fine instrument. There are quite a few refill options available which is nice. My only complaint is the fingerprints. They are immediately very obvious, which I should have guessed because it's chrome. You have to polish it after you touch it. Because of this it's going in the special occasion evening bags - or perhaps desk jewelry for light usage. Your hand would slide down with prolonged writing. It's quite eye catching and impressive though.Was this review helpful?

Lovely pen, simple design, well made without being too expensive. If I lost it I wouldn't be happy but at least it wouldn't cost the earth to replace. This pen is a really good deal at this price point for.-It's a twist action ballpoint so no annoying clickety, clickety.-Good wide shape in the hand without too much width.-Changing refills is easy. You remove the top half unscrew the refill and put a new one in it's place. Quite secure.-Fits penloops from Leuchttrum1917 perfectly incase you want to attach it to a notebook.

It gives the look of used item. I want to replace it A very tiny mattter has beee made to look like a mountainuu. The parceL reahed iin a mutilate condition. I just requested for a fresh piece. It would ot have costd in exchng worth of good willorth million. Cross pens are worlld known fortheirp performance.. This pen has grown on me and become one of my favorite ballpoints.The satin black finish is very classy and goes well with the chrome appointments. Writing quality is good.Be sure your fingers are large enough to fit comfortably around its ample girth before buying a pen this fat. There are thin pens and fat pens. This one is definitely an exemplar of the latter.It's a class act, writes well, and won't make you decide between buying the pen or paying your mortgage this month.

Having received the lovely Cross ATX fountain pen as a retirement present, I decided to make the most of the exceptionally low price on Amazon to treat myself to this matching ATX ballpoint pen and pencil set. It was delivered in record time and I am delighted to say the three items are absolutely stunning and all work beautifully. It is such a pleasure to write with them.In fact I feel as excited as when I was given my very first fountain pen at the age of 10 ... not so long ago!

As a draftsmen, this pen has easily become one of my best friends. you'll be asking yourself why, haven't I purchased a number of cross pens, before now?!!! Not only does it perform as advertised, but it just looks good and handles, just as well. You'll notice that your good penmanship has gotten much better, since your brilliant purchase order of this cross pen. I make a gift of a number of cross pens/writing instruments for my near and dear friends, over the years.

The pen was a gift for someone. They received the item, as pictured, promptly on the date expected. My only complaint would be that Amazon did not offer a gift option for this item. So the recipient had to receive the pen with the packing slip (and the price tag) but no gift message. I had to alert them the gift was coming so that they wouldn't think it was sent in error, No birthday surprise there unfortunately. Well, at least it was packaged in its own gift box.

I knew my fiancee had owned many Cross pens in the past, and he was lamenting the fact that they were all with his belongings in his previous home. He dropped so many hints that, even though I'd already bought another present, I caved in and ordered this elegant, slightly chubby pen (his preference for writing) with swish chrome and 23 carat gold accents. I am delighted and so will he be when he opens it in 24 hours. Thanks also for the swift delivery!

This pen is simply about as good as a writing instrument can get. The weight, balance and feel are perfect. The outside is coated with a finely textured surface that feels great and acts to keep the pen firmly in your hand while writing. The mechanical actions is as you would expect from Cross, excellent. It is also not that "fat" around. It is slightly larger than a typical slim pen but nothing like the real "fat-boys" out there.
