As a grandfather of slightly more years than I'd care to think about I recall with total fondness the Spirograph of my youth in the early 1970's. I spend ages making up shapes with my set - which I wish I still had - and never found it boring to use.Naturally, with modern availability of far more so called interactive toys, the likes of this might seem a bit old hat.Not a bit of it.My twin grandchildren who are around 5 3/4 and are in their first year of primary school discovered 'art' and are obsessed with drawing and such like. It is to my eyes a wonderful thing.So I bought them this set because I figured that if I enjoyed it maybe they would as well.What I can say is that we've all had a blast.

Bought for my five year old daughter for Christmas. A great little starter kit, which comes with three external animal shapes which each have three internal wheel parts to creat spirals. It comes with one black pen, so you will need to purchase some fine nibbled pens or pencils if you wish to make coloured spirals.Our daughter has struggled to get to grips with using it as she has struggled to hold down the outside part while moving her right hand around with the wheel. I have found myself wondering if she’s just a bit too young or if it’s just going to be practice before she gets the hang of it?Having said that,

This is cute, and doesn't take up too much space like some of the other kits available. I like the cute animal twist. I tried on my daughter who us 4 - she did find it hard, but the age advice is 5+ so I will try it again when she is older. Only reason for not giving it 5 stars is it can move around on the paper so it can get frustrating when it slips - you just have to hold it in place firmly, but little ones find that hard as they are concentrating on the drawing.

This is a nice product and reminds me of something similar I had as a child. The end effect is nice however it is very difficult for a child to hold and also do the design at the same time. My 6 year old got very frustrated with it but when I held it for her (still quite hard even for me to hold it!), she was very pleased with the end result. It's a bit tricky to find the right size pencil tips to fit in the small holes so it's handy you get a small pack included.

Great item for the price, but my arty little 4 year old found it a little tricky/fiddly. He loved colouring in the patterns we made for him though - kept him quiet for ages :)For the price I'd definitely recommend it - mini spirograph for mini hands!!

This toy has given me and my grandchildren hours of fun it was very cheap, easy to store away , not only easy and fun to use it has a great educational value. Well worth purchasing and also good to add on to

I am using them with a group of 5-6 year olds. They enjoy them. I am not getting as much pleasure because I am used to the versatility of a big spirograph which produces many different patterns.

this an ideal starter spirograph for a young child. the animal shapes can be traced round and the patterns drawn inside for added interest.

These were always great fun when I was younger and for that reason bought for a 4 year old for Christmas. Can't wait for her to have a go!

i bought this for my 3yr old and she really enjoys making all the fancy designs, i'm running out of walls to hang her masterpieces

Bought for a friend and it went down very well. As far as I can tell she play with it and seems to like it. She's 4.

My 5 year old niece found this easy to use and has had great fun already making designs. Small tip pens required.

BOUGHT THIS FOR THE GRAND KIDS. FOR WHEN THEY WANT SOME THING TO DO. PLAY FOR HOURS AND MAKES FOR A QUIET DAY.
