I use a hex-core Macbook Pro 2018 for my architectural work in ArchiCAD, which at times of rendering or high polygon modelling is very taxing on the CPU. The MBP 2018 is famous for its aggressive thermal curve (not to mention the thermal throttling behaviour when it first came out), and hence I am keen to use every way I can to keep it cool which equals more performance. If OSX does not crank the turbo up, then at least I have reduced the thermal stress of the components hence longevity. However I need a solution that is discrete, professional while silent; I am known as the geek of the office but I don't need to audiably advertise it with some 10000RPM fan noises. In comes the Notepal XL.The giantic 230mm fan can move a large surface area of air at once. Compared to a 80mm fan, a 230mm can shift the same amount of air while turning a lot slower, resulting in a quieter operation. In fact, if you compare its spec to the U3 Plus, the 80mm fans there turn at 1800RPM shifting 15.42CFM of air while this 230mm monstrosity turns at max 1000PRM but moves 89.8CFM in near silent operation! This CFM figure is in fact the highest I can find among all of the Cooler Master pads - even higher than the 57CFM on the Notepal X150R advertised for "high performance" use.CFM is not everything though - if you send a minimal stream of air at hurricane speed, you may be getting a very high CFM but your efficiency will suffer because the cool air simply don't stay around for long enough to actually do some heat exchange. Increasing air velocity has diminishing yields; and the low velocity of the 230mm fan utilitses well the high CFM it produces. In fact the air is moving so slow that you can barely feel a slight breeze through your fingers! And that's a good thing.I can confirm that the 15" MBP 2018 is a lot cooler to the touch around the Touchbar area when used with this pad. The effect is even more prominent when I use my personal 13" MBP 2018 (no dGPU) which can easily cook a steak when working. That is not to say that this pad is without flaws - the build quality is like a toy really, and USB 2.0 is probably good for your mouse and keyboard only. I don't know who came up with the idea that the pad itself should be powered with a micro USB while the USB ports are meant to be have supplementary power by a mini USB?! It would be much appreciated if someone actually change these into USB 3.0 ports and allow the whole thing to be powered and ports connected through a single USB C - better still if PD can be achieved so I can use this as a dock; I'll happily pay £150 for a USB-C PD Cooling Dock with a HDMI output or the like. All in all it works as advertised, and probably the best silent fan out there at that. The rest of the specs are a bit outdated and in other words useless, but a fan is a fan is a fan and as long as it turns, it will do its main job well.

I have developed a recent obsession with laptop cooling pads, which are a must have item for anyone having a laptop. This I have realized after having used pillows, cushions etc over the years. I have tried 3 cooling pads in quick succession of which this is by far the best.It comes very well packaged. The construction is largely plastic. It has 3 additional USB ports at the back which is quite convenient. It has a on off switch for the fan along with a speed control. The fan itself is quite silent unless turned to max in which case you hear the wind, which is unavoidable unless Dyson comes out with a fan less model. Silence is extremely important from a usability perspective. Also Its comfortable on the lap and keeps my HP EliteBook cool at very low fan speeds. You might need to turn up the fan speed for gaming PCs I guess.Cooler Master is a massive brand and I regret my previous "less known brand" purchase which had 4 fans of which one stopped working almost immediately during first use. It is better to stick to a known brand based on my experience. My other "less known brand" cooling pad is working fine so far but is not match for the quality, silence and performance of this one which is admittedly much more expensive so maybe not a fair comparison.Overall I am extremely happy with my purchase and I recommend it highly!!

I bought this to replace an old Belkin laptop cooler, a loose wire meant it was no longer operating correctly, thankfully this replacement laptop cooler has a cable that disconnects and therefore is easy to replace if the same thing happens again. You get 4 USB hubs on the back, very useful since most laptops don't have enough USB ports, i think they are USB 2.0 only. The results i get from switching this cooler on are as follows, this is after several hours on, i have not tested during the hot summer months yet, you can alter the fan speed but i always have it on full, there is some noise but it's what i consider a low volume,at least it's a low volume compared to the noisy Belkin cooler i used to have.Hard Drive - usually around 37c drops to 34cCPU usually around 48c drops to 44cSystem around 51c drops to 47cCore 0 usually 41c drops to 37cCore 1 usually 41c drops to 37cTemp 1 usually 48c drops to 45cTemp 2 usually 48 drops to 45cThe longer it's on the better the performance but the above temperatures show a reasonable drop for me and tell me it works, i also like the fact i can adjust the cooler's height, very useful feature that most coolers omit.I am knocking off a star due to the fact i dislike the blue light and you cannot switch it off.

I can confirm the fan is silent. Even on the fastest speed setting there is very little noise. I previously had an older Cooler Master product and could hear the "quiet" fan over the TV, on the XL there is no interruption.it is extremely light weight and portable.Just a couple of snags;- A 17" laptop overhangs the sides, with a gaming laptop the fan does not cool exactly where its needed.- The cool air intake on the front also pumps out a lot of cold air during use, so does create a chilly atmosphere if using this on your lap, or at a decent height desk you get a nice breeze to the face, great for hot summer, not so great for British Autumn/Winter.- The rear operation port (USB connection,on/off switch and speed control) is a little awkward to reach and limiting for positioning on a smaller desk.Snags aside this product is worth the extra spend, the fan is incredibly powerful, and positioning (without extended legs) is comfortable for use.

The build materials are good quality, the fan is fairly quiet and moves a lot of air, also like how much more comfortable it is to type on my keyboard now it's angled up a bit, as well as the screen being higher it feels that bit closer to being a desktop experience. I doubt you would find this level of quality materials and amount of cooling per decibel for any of the cheaper more popular £20 coolers. Also love the design. Only negative is that because the fan is in the middle, most of the cooling is in the middle whereas my laptop fan intake is on the upper left. However I am still satisfied, at £38, although I think it's worth more like £35, also doesn't seem to be many UK retailers for this product, possibly because it's fairly new. Also the extra USB ports are good, my mouse works fine running it through this.

I have had two different laptop coolers over recent years, they have lacked the ability to deliver quality and cooling. Now this is a different class. I have been running it with an Asus N55SL with a decent graphics card that requires decent cooling for the last three months. Put simply, it works. The quality build is very good, four usb hub inputs. A variable speed controller. Blue led strip light on the front of the unit. Height adjustable too. Now for the noise report, it is fairly quiet apart from when you run it at the highest rpm.I consider that it was well worth the money. Something that is difficult to judge when trawling through the available laptop coolers, in general. Treat yourself, for once!

I've been using the Cooler Master Notepal XL for quite some time now to keep my Alienware 17 temps down while working in 3d modelling applications, Unreal Engine 4, and while gaming. Overall I am impressed, without the cooling pad under high load my laptop regularly sees temps of 90c+, with the cooling pad I see average high load temps of around 80c. May not seem like a huge difference, but that 10c makes a huge difference when it comes to working in 3d.Its quieter than other models I've tired in the past, the extra USB ports are a handy addition, and the variable speed dial is helpful as well. When this eventually wears out I'll be purchasing another.

Exactly what I needed, I didn't want to purchase a mini laptop desk/foldable mini desk to compensate for my laptop overheating when I'm in bed because most are wooden or plastic and a cushion would have just overheated my laptop even further , but this neat ljttle device sits VERY comfortably on your lap. It completely gets rid of clammy thighs from laptop heat by its really cool USB fan, this in turn also helps in keeping the laptop cool, there's genuinely not a more comfortable laptop rest on the internet!Awesome product!

If you're working a laptop hard it will get hot. This stand not only make the laptop sit at a nice angle but the fan keeps it cool, increasing it's working life and protecting its components. The variable fan speed and built in USB ports makes it versatile. I would have preferred USB3 ports and not USB2 but it's a good piece of kit which folds flat for easy transportation and for taking when working out of the office.I found the size was just about OK for my 17" laptop but it's more comfortable with a 15".

It does some kind of cooling. I used it with my macbook pro and it could cool my macbook down few degrees (around 5).I do not think it is worth the money as the cooling is not significant but that is up to the user's needs I guess.Pros: the blue spotlight looks cool.Cons: doesn't cool enough. If you want to use it with macbook pro be aware that it may slip off easily. Also if you plan using it with laptop I would recommend to buy separate keyboard as it is not comfortable for typing.

This laptop cooler is a very simple design and very lightweight, which is what you need on your lap. The cushion is stiff rather than soft but this allows it to be shaped to allow air to get under the laptop. The fan is quiet and not especially powerful but even if it stops working the cushion will still protect the legs from the heat of the laptop. It seems like pretty good value for money.

Got this off Amazon because delivery costs from buying directly from Cooler Master costs more than the item itself. Super quiet and seems sturdy enough.Pros:Extra USB slots!Cons:This is more of a personal choice, the fans blow up cool air rather than sucking the warm air out of the laptop.Only had this for 8 weeks and so far no issues.

I previously has a CoolerMaster NotePal X2 and this is the newer model. This one certainly feels better made and it more comfortable to use, as well as being quieter. It also feels like it has more airflow (although I couldn't find the original specs of the X2 anywhere). I'd highly recommend this cooling pad.

Ideal for what I wanted. I use it with an MSI Apache gaming laptop and under normal gaming load it pretty much avoids the fairly noise laptop fans coming on at all. Under higher load it stops the machine chassis from getting much more than lukewarm.

Really really good piece of kit. Keeps my laptop cool when running games and i quite like the USB at the back.It is noisy, but then again you can turn the fan speed down if you want to.
