Grating your own whole nutmegs tastes and smells so much better than the powdered and stays fresher for longer. You also get to see the beautiful, internal marbled surfaces of the nutmegs once you've started using them. Fed up with grinding my fingertips off, so opted for this compact acrylic grinder rather than an open grater-style one. On my first testing of it, holding it my in left hand and operating it with my right, I spun the handle round, and was dismayed to feel no resistance at all - I expected to have to exert a tiny bit of effort at least, after all nutmegs are quite hard little things.But I was delighted, when I put it down, to find my left palm full of grated nutmeg. Excellent! I'd recommend this to anyone!

This is the third nutmeg grinder I've bought, all in the same design. I can't recommend it highly enough.I was given one of my own for a birthday present after years of struggling with a minuscule grater that I'd invariably skin a knuckle with.The difference is incredible. the handle turns easily to produce freshly grated nutmeg and the whole item washes without difficulty!I'm totally converted and am now buying nutmeg graters for friends without! Treat yourself!

When I use it, I put only one nutmeg in it, and when I finish using it, I take it out and store it in a zipper bag.This will protect the nutmeg from moisture and insects.It's a little delicate, but since Japan has a high humidity, I think it's good to be able to see the inside with an acrylic material, which is hygienic and easy to manage.Nutmeg is more like shavings than fine powder, but I'm happy with it.

I bought this mainly for my boyfriend as he uses nutmeg a lot, I was inspired by my nana, she seems to have all the best gadgets and tools for the kitchen. It's a great little grinder with a strong grater blade. It looks nice and you don't get the mess from grating nutmeg manually. If you use nutmeg then I definitely recommend this little grinder. I love it. Sad I know!

Neat little grinder. Looks nice. Works quite well although being small, it’s not too easy to use. However, I’m sure I’ll find the knack and get used to it.Great value in comparison to most on the market and the manufacturers make great pepper mills so well worth the money for an item by a reputable maker.

took me a while to get to grips with it as no instructions so filled to top so none of them turned, then realised only one nutmeg at a time, technique is to change direction a few times when milling. at the end of first nutmeg and seems to still be working

This nutmeg grater saves grating your fingers when preparing nutmeg!!It is a little difficult to close the lid as the spring is very strong but the grater works very well other than that.

I bought this Cole & Mason Nutmeg Grinder as a gift for a friend. She is delighted with it. I have had one for several years & it is still works as well as it did when I first used it.

Does the job but grates rather finely, would prefer larger pieces to bring out the flavour. Otherwise a reliable product and saves your fingers for being shredded!

Makes grinding nutmeg very easy. My original one broke and when I wrote to Cole and Mason about it, they sent me another one free of charge, which was very kind.

My second one - dropped the first and broke it. So much easier than destroying your fingers on a grater, and dropping chunks of nutmeg into your food!

I used to grate my nails when I used nutmeg as an ingredient for my cooking. Although a bit slow, it makes life so much easier for home cooks.
