I really like this kit, though what you do with it, in my opinion, is more like weaving than knitting. Whatever. The fact remains that this teaches a craft, which I'm all for. Also, what you get in the kit is just the start. Once you've got the hang of the technique you could go on to make almost anything and experiment with different yarns, so it could well be one of those gifts that keeps giving! One thing I don't like is the box. This is definitely a gift for teens, but the girl on the front looks far too young. A teenager might be put off thinking it's a kids' toy and not bother opening it. the manufacturers might consider repackaging using different graphic artists.

For a crafty person like my daughter this is a good set. It has enough wool to make a headband (which is made first as its easiest) a snood and a pair of knitted slippers with pom-poms. There are two plastic rings with numbered pegs to wrap the wool around to make stitches (remember Knitting Nancy?) and a hook to lift the stitches over the ones below. There is also a measuring tape, row counter and a pair of pom-poms makers. The first language on the instructions is French with English below but there are plenty of illustrations to help. It’s a shame the QR codes didn’t work for us as apparently there are online tutorials available.

This was a fun knitting toy to get started with learning how to French knit. There are two sizes of knitting mills and enough wool for the projects in the kit. Afterwards, you can get more wool and carry on experimenting and making other things. It's a great way to introduce a craft to a slightly older child and get a child interested in making more things.

This set could encourage a new hobby. It comes with all materials and equipment, the wool is nice and some has a bit of sparkle running through it. It comes with instructions to make slippers,neck warmer and more. Ideal for rainy days to keep busy.
