As a young child, this Brio set is great - looking at it from an adults point of view, it could be designed better. This is one our three year old sons favourite Brio sets - it’s simple enough, with a play feature (twisting the knob on the top to allow a different track to become operational), that will get him to think about what he needs to do in order for it to be operational. As an adult however, the design just seems to be a bit ‘backwards’. You are intended to play with it as trains come into the single track from a double track - but surely it would be better if it was reversed and you started on the single track and had the option to go one of two ways.It can be done obviously, however the ‘stop and go light system’ is obviously set up for the two tracks into one system.I suppose it will manually make a child stop the train if the red light is showing, however if a motorised train is used and the ‘switch’ is in the wrong position the train will just plough over the top and probably crash. It’s not a huge issue and as an adult I’m probably just over thinking the design as our 3 year old loves this set, but it’s just something to consider. This is no way worth the (over inflated) RRP of £44, but I got this set as a ‘black Friday deal’ of £13 which is a bargain for this. I’d say this is probably a £20 set.The additional play features of a ladder for men and women to climb is a nice added feature and can provide an extra bit of playability for young users.Overall a good set which I’m sure will last many years to come due to its high quality materials and durability - I’m sure my son would give it five stars, but it’s drops a star for me for its backwards design - which could be easily solved by putting the ‘traffic light system’ on the other side of the bridge.

This product is a great little purchase.I brought it for my little one to add to his train collection but I am not sure who got more excited about testing it out, me or him.The best thing about this item is that when you twist the signal the little 'light' changes with it. I have taken some photos of it being both red and green on each side.I also like that the man figure can clip on to the steps so he can be there with the signal at all times without getting knocked off. Great attention to detail. The only reason it loses a star from me is because of the plastic connection part where the track joins on to. I do not understand why Brio like using plastic balls for that part.I feel it gives the product a cheap feel to it.I would recommend this item though. It would make a great present for any wooden train lover.

I bought my grandson a Brio compatible PlayTive train set from Lidl for £15 or so on a whim last Christmas and he loves playing with it when he comes to visit. As this costs more than that full set it would be difficult to argue it is good value for money but I got it on a deal for under ten pounds so happy days. Anyway, it is a very nice item that is a definite improvement on the original switching track that came with the original set . It didn't take the boy a long time to get to grips with the mechanism and we like the "lights" that change when you turn the knob and the little guy in the hard hat and hi-viz is a nice bonus too.

This was purchased as a gift for a 4 year old who loves his Brio train set. Its a really nice piece to add to the set. It enables the track to split and there's a neat little manual switch that switches the train from one track to the other, at the same time as changing the traffic lights. It comes complete with a signal operator man. I think its pretty good value, especially for Brio

First of all the packaging and the first impression is very good. Beautiful wood and high quality plastic parts. Both my two and five year olds love it and was taking turns to switch and observe the traffic/signalling light/colour. The figurine can even clip/hold on to the side of the ladder. Overall very happy with the purchase and one of the star of their wooden railway items.

Our little boy loves his wooden train set, we've enough track to to fill a toy shop, and lots and lots of accessories too. He loves this junction, as its so easy to operate, and the little lights changing colour too fascinates him!Fits with all his tracks, from Brio, Hape, Bigjigs, Tesco, Aldi, Ikea, so perfect to go with his set!

My son was going crazy for a signal and this one seemed the best available. I am really happy with our purchase. It's well made and consists of plastic and wood and fits perfect with other makes of wooden track of the same size too. There is a little switch you can turn to change the track and the lights change colour.

This simple but beautifully designed Signal Station is a firm favourite. The control at the top alters the lights from green to red. For a good while that was enough. Now the child has made the connection between the control, light changes and track movement - even better. Worth the addition to a Brio track.

Purchased as a Christmas gift - this is a great addition to any train set. Was concerned that it wouldn't be that good due to the plastic bits but was surprised at the quality and construction BRIO is still one of the best producers in this market and it was worth paying a little extra.

The signal staion arrived on time and was well packaged. Easy to open and get going in conjunction with previously purchased Brio compatible tracks (which you need). 2's to 5's played well with it, understanding the link between the signal colour and the way the points were set.

It's a Christmas gift for our 5 yr old grandson. Great play value and Brio is timeless and tough, withstanding many years of regular play. Our own son now in his 30's had a set that we still have in play by his own son and daughter when they come and visit! Enough said!

Brilliant addition to my boys ever growing Brio collection. Well made as always and comes with a little man to bring a new dimension to their play.Brio is more expensive than other similar toys out their but it is worth it for its durability and playability.

Great addition to your Brio set. My now 3 year old has been using it for several months. It's very tough, as you'd expect from Brio and the little man is one of the favourite pieces in our train-toy box. Pretty good value as Brio can be expensive.

This is a lovely addition. It comes with a little man too. It would be better if it came with another junction piece as you need 2 of this type of piece to be able to complete the track. My little boy enjoys having this as part of his track.

Have brought this for my son for his 4th birthday and he loves it, all bigjigs and brio bits fit together you wouldn't know the difference between the makes, am extremely happy with the product, well made and a lovely piece to my sons track
