These are excellent toys for the train enthusiast toddler, My son loves a certain TV series on a tank engine. Although they are not linked to the TV series the playtime with the trains is always enjoyed. I've since purchased several more BRIO accessories to compliment this beginner pack.Pros- These BRIO toys are durable so far they have been thrown, stomped on and kicked without breaking.- The track slots together easily for adults and not too easily for your child. This means the track doesn't dislodge accidentally should your child unintentionally bump into it.- Brightly coloured these are easy to find and visually appealing.- The train and carriage wheels move freely and fit in the grooves of the track easily. My son is easily able to put the train back on the track himself.- The BRIO sets have a wide variety of accessories, I've since bought more to add to this set.- The wood is planed/sanded to a very smooth finish and without splinters.Cons- The train tracks are not painted and come in plain smooth wood.- During tantrums the train track has been lifted overhead and thrown. The weight of the wooden track caused concern of bumps and scrapes but is a price worth paying for the durability.

I bought this for my Godson as a gift for his second birthday. He absolutely has loved playing with it. His mummy set it up and he spent the next couple of hours truly engaged with it.It is such great quality too. With Brio you can expect it to last not years but decades. I am thirty and my children are playing with my Brio from when I was their age. They have their own too. They have some other wooden railway stuff from the next best brand but honestly, Brio is the frontrunner. It is worth the extra few pounds.Another great thing about it is that once the child grows out of this particular set up it can be added to new track. The train itself is a great idea with the noisy rattle carriage. The rattling bridge makes a great fun addition to the set. Beautiful colours.I really think the plastic ramps are a brilliant idea. It allows a much younger child to start playing with it. It will allow little young hands to guide the train onto the track with relative ease. Brilliant for honing their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination.I like how it is completely guilt free toys too. Minimal plastic. The wood is FSC certified. And you know it will last generations.

This is a good set. The engine and car are sturdy, a couple of months of heavy play later, there is not a scratch or discoloration to be seen on them. Very well built. The layout itself is rather limited if you just stick to what you get in the box (only two meaningful configurations), but there is a nice bridge/crossing. We got an extension pack to build more interesting layouts. I'm sure the kid would have had fun anyway even without it.The engine on this one is unpowered by the way.Nice feature: magnets autorotate in small plastic enclosures to align polarities, so the engine and car can be connected in any orientation (and they can connect to other wooden trains in any orientation).

Really good basic railway set bought for my two year old who loves it. Great on carpets or hard floors as the ramps allow your child freedom to go on or off track. Very well made and excellent quality as always from Brio. It's worth the money to get good quality items that will last. This set can easily be integrated with subsequent more advanced sets and track to make bigger and more complex systems and the range has track packs, tunnels, trains to further buy. Will always highly recommend Brio for quality and durability.

Bought as a gift for my 2-year-old... who is not very interested, yet. Likely better for 3-year-old, or another personality :) Imagined the rainbow bridge did something (rattle? made notes?), but it's just plain plastic. Happy otherwise. Great that there are a few more ways to configure this set, but will definitely be expanding with more tracks in future.

This was a present for my grandson. His parents and I, were very happy with it. My grandson is a little young to play with it correctly at the moment but he enjoyed it too. It is well made, sturdy and ecologically friendly, being made of wood. The track slots together easily and holds well. We will be adding to it in the future.

Purchased as a starter railway pack for our Grandson's second birthday. Brio has always been a well-made and good value long lasting product. We orignally purchased a Brio for our son thirty years ago. The railway is still in his possession for use by visiting nieces and nephews to play with and it still looks a good as new.

This is a Christmas present for my grandson who is 19 months old it’s not been opened as yet so hope it’s all okay. I am sure it will be. I did buy this item before a few years back for another child, and was really impressed with the good quality. So am hoping the quality has not gone down we will see on Christmas Day.

It’s a great and has been played with extensively already. Mostly made of wood with a few plastic components. Easily taken apart so can take a good battering while being played with. The train could do with another carriage as it’s a. It smaller than I thought but that’s only a minor complaint. A good all round toy.

One of the best toys I have bought. Well used and something my grandson goes back to time and time again. I will definitely be purchasing more track and building this set up. It's strong, well made. Would recommend this. Its great as the child uses their imagination, no technology. A proper toy!!

This was perfect for my 18month Grandson. Simple but with enough variations to the layout to keep it interesting. With help he likes to make the track as long as possible and send the train down the hill from the bridge. It wont be long before he can do it for himself.

My 18 months toddler absolutely loved it! He plays this set every day! Brio trains are really well done and very nice wooden toys to have! I purchased some extras to add to this set and my toddler loves it. Wish Brio had more to offer for toddlers!

Bought for nephew who is borderline too small for the train set (17months), but the fact that he was able to throw the pieces around the room without causing any damage to the set is a testament to the quality of BRIO toys.

This is a present for my youngest grandson who will be 2 years old soon. It is simple for him to play with, with the help of his older brothers. Being wooden I feel it is safe for him to handle and fit the track together.

Excellent quality as always from Brio. The track parts fit together so nicely and will last for many years. This particular basic pack is great for 1-2 year-olds to get their first experience of model trains.
