One thing I've got to remark upon these pens is they have a really, really excellent rubberised grip which makes them easy to hold and use, whether you are drawing lines or shading there's little chance of them slipping or sticking. The glide on the page is good too, none of the nibs are inclined to become dry (although I do replace the caps or pen lids when not in use). None of them are heavy pens either, I thought they were lighter than I expected and I did not think they were oversized either, just an average size, a little bigger than a pen or pencil but not those thick variety permanent marker style. They are all very bright and I uploaded a picture to show how close the colour on the page is to the colour on the pen, pretty close, I used an average pucka pad style block of paper and the ink while visible from the other side of the sheet of paper did not soak across or mark the next sheet of paper in the pad.All the pens are flourescent, bright, day glow style colours but they are not highlighter pens, you could use them for that but perhaps it would be a better idea to underline than shade in a sentence as it would not easy to read. These could be used by any child to colour in colour books (or adults I guess) but they could as easily be used with a flip chart to illustrate different trends on a chart with a ruler or plot some other way. Recommended. Real good pens.

Presented in an attractive and creative tin with a removable lid, this set of 15 indelible ink markers is stunning in presentation. Colours range from black at one end of the spectrum to yellow blaze at the other with a mixture of pastels to bright shades in between. They are funky. The markers are described as fine-tipped on the barrels but interestingly, I found all medium to thick-tipped. The tip variation can be seen on the photo. Whilst the majority penetrated the 90gsm paper on which the word ‘hello’ was inscribed (see photo), the metallic sheen and thicker tips of the bronze, platinum silver, jade and sapphire did not go through the paper at all.None leaked through to subsequent pages. These pens have a rubberised grip and are comfortable to hold. They are great for producing pop art and as a keen fan of this type of art, I was surprised not to see a darker and a brighter red colour and possibly another yellow or orange. Pop art does not involve colour variation but it would be productive to have the choice. With just one red and one yellow supplied, these will probably run out long before finishing the three shades of blue and four shades of green!Nevertheless, undoubtedly, this tin of markers will prove most popular with the would-be artist.

These 15 permanent marker pens are far more interesting and versatile than I'd expected. The colours are vibrant, and include 4 metallic shades (jade, sapphire, platinum and bronze), 10 pastel shades, plus black. They can be used on any surface including glass, metal, plastic, and photos which is a real plus. Mostly these are going to be useful with art projects where you need to make an impact and be sure the colour will not smudge or shift. They are also comfortable to hold with a textured rubber grip. One minor point, the pens are described on the side as fine-point which is misleading. They are in fact a standard felt-tip width with a bullet nib so are unsuitable for fine lines and detail. This is important if you are considering buying them for art work (I have another with genuinely fine point nibs for that purpose). However at £14.99 (at time of review) for 15 really nice permanent colour marker pens they represent very good value, all the more so as they come in a tin with a clear lid for useful storage. They would be ideal for card-making where you need a range of colours including metallic ones. Lovely.

This set of 15 permanent markers is described as being supplied with fine point tips. Whilst this is true in the majority of cases, the fineness of the tips does vary quite dramatically, from approximately 1mm in the majority of cases, up to approximately 4mm. Depending on the exact purpose for which you require these pens, this may or may not be a problem.Given that it is a set of 15 pens, there are clearly a range of different colours, or more strictly, different shades of the same colour, including greens, blues, pinks etc. Each of the colours has a particularly name, such as key lime, yellow blaze, peach parfait etc. Most of these colours are self explanatory as to what shade they will be,I was slightly surprised with "jade" as it turned out to be quite metallic! It was also one of the widest point tips, so not entirely sure what happened with this one!Whilst the presentation of these pens is arguably one of the least important aspects of these pens, they do come in an attractive metal gift box and so, all in all, a decent set of permanent markets.

I'm seriously impressed with these metallic marker pens. If you're anything like me, you've been used to the pens you have to shake up and down (the satisfying 'snick' of the mixing ball...) and the pump-tip that you have to master, to get your metallic tints. But these are *actual* marker pens with the brush tip just like a normal pen, but when you write, it's a line of pure gold or silver. I decorated my diary testing out the pens and it's beautiful - the ink doesn't smudge, it comes out smooth-as-you-please, and it doesn't smell. I just love them. The box of 12 is generous and would be ideal for arts and crafts projects for the kids (and the big kids!), and maybe even calligraphy. They are permanent markers, I think, so you definitely can use them to embellish other objects you own, like a phone case or laptop lid. For projects, a large supply of pens is definitely a good idea - in the 12-box, you get 6 of each silver and gold, and at time of writing, they come out at about £1 each, which I think is good value. They've got a fan in me!

I’d never seen a gift set of permanent markers before, but this would be an ideal present for anyone artistic. The metal tin has an attractive design round the edge, and can be used to store the markers.Everything is as described. The rubber grip is very effective, and the precision it gives would be very useful for artwork. Ignore the “medium bullet tip” title, as it’s actually a fine point. The detailed description tells you that four of the colours are metallic.I tested the “write on any surface” claim on glass and metal surfaces, and it’s true; obviously on non-absorbent surfaces like these it doesn’t dry immediately. On paper and cardboard, of course, it dries instantly. There is no risk of bleed.Good value and the perfect solution if you’re looking to find an inexpensive art present. Probably inadvisable for younger children, but secondary pupils taking art seriously will love this set, especially as the markers can be used for projects on almost any material.

The great thing about using permanent ink rather than anything water soluble is you can colour over without blending, smudging or bleeding (unless that's the effect you're looking for, of course). So if you draw an outline in black, you can then fill in with bright yellow without any of the black blending into the yellow, or being picked up by the yellow tip.The ink itself is very fluid, the colours almost run of the tips like paint. They have "fine" points, of about 1.5mm. Overlapping with the same colour does not produce darker marks, so you can easily fill areas uniformly. On the other hand, this means you won't get graduations of colour, e.g. for shading. The pens are therefore best for striking, solid colours - graphics and the like. The pens are a joy to hold, with the tip feeling positive. The caps fit neatly and securely. The tin is a nice container, though I would have preferred no plastic window (metal lid) and a card rather than plastic in-tray.

This set of 15 pens from Bic would make a great gift for any creative child who is old enough to be trusted with permanent markers. The squiggle decorated metal box has a clear lid so you can see all the pens and keep them safely stored. There are 4 pens with a metallic finish, and 11 in a wide range of flat colours from pastels to brights. Each pen has a coloured lid which matches the top of the soft grip barrel inside. The pens are fine enough for accurate writing and great for outline drawing and decorating (0.8mm). They are quite low in odour for a permanent pen, and the best thing is that the ink dries very quickly so you can avoid smudging. They will write on light or dark surfaces including paper, card, plastic, foil, gloss photos, metal and glass. They are water resistant but will not stand up to rubbing and scrubbing so they cannot be used to decorate ceramics or fabrics that are going to be washed.

The five pens are metallic pink; bronze; purple; silver and blue. They are very similar to Sharpie range but a bit thicker in writing line. They write well on glass and plastic but not too great on paper. There isa metalic glow when paper is turned sideways into the light but nothing that stands out. My six year old granddaughter was dissapointed in the 'glow' when she used them on one of her pictures. I used them successfully on mason jars to indicate contents and they worked just as well on plastics. The tip says "fine" but you have to hold them upright to get a fine line, when used on their side, they produce a pretty thick line (Which is useful at times). All of the pens seemed to be full of ink and non were dry as some customers have complained about. They are not cheap, at around £1.20 per pen but I'm happy with the quality.

The presentation of this set of permanent markers is nice - a metal tin with window. The markers themselves are nice to hold and use with the rubber grips. What I particularly liked was what Bic describe as the 'distinctive' range of colours - not your usual palette, including four slightly different metallics to the usual gold/silver/copper combo - here you get jade, sapphire, platinum and bronze; these are complemented by a mix of brights and pastel colours. The pens are described as 'fine' tip, but that's hard to achieve except with a very light control. They are great for shading in without darker overlap areas using the side of the pens. As all solvent-based markers do, they will soak through thin paper, the metallics much less so though. They're not cheap, but this is being marketed as a gift set - and that is spot on.

This is for the box of 12. You get six silver markers, and six gold as you would expect, and it's easy to tell which is which by the coloured cap.The ink is more like a paint than an ink, it flows quickly and you can then move it around whatever your drawing it on to get some nice effects. It works more immediately on anything porous, and less so on anything hard, like plastic. It won't work at all on glass or similar ceramics - the paint/ink just doesn't stick. The nib is a fine point, but you can increase pressure to widen the line if you need to.They are totally non-odour but dry fairly quickly - they are not like 'normal' permanent markers that dry instantly,so you need to be careful to not smudge what you've just drawn.Nice pens, at a good price - hard to go wrong with these, just be aware of their limitations.

BIC Marking Permanent Markers - Assorted Metallic Colours, Box of 12The set. These came in a box containing six silver and six gold coloured with fine tips. The grips are rubberised for easy grip and manipulation when doing complex designs.Using.These will work on most surfaces that are porous. We have tried them on paper, card, leather and unfired stoneware. My wife does a lot of craft work and uses this range often. They are also nice for writing on cards. The gold and silver look great on black card.Overall.This range is very good for craft uses and creative writing. Remember to put the caps on the pens between uses as they do dry out quickly. These are expensive but if you want work of a high standard, they are excellent. We can also recommend the coloured versions as well for card design and writing.

These 'BIC Marking - 946040 - Pack of 5 Permanent Markers Medium Bullet Tip, Assorted Intense Colours' are a set of five permanent marker pens (working in a school, I'm conditioned to think of 'marking' as something you do on paper, however that is not how the term is used here). They come in five bright and slightly unusual shades - neon yellow, pink, blue, green, and orange - and all show up well on a white background. They do a good job of labelling folders and suchlike, and can be used for labelling bottles etc although the ink does fade in the sun (to be fair, so do most colours of Sharpie). They have a well-designed rubber grip, which is nice to hold, and apparently can be left capless for many days before drying out (I am reluctant to try this, as I like them!).Nice alternative to Sharpies.

I think the best thing about this set of markers is the range of colours. They produce a bright strong line, but relatively thin for a marker pen and there is some confusion here. The listing says "medium" but the pens are actually marked "fine" - you can actually see this in one of the listing photos. The width of the line is about 1mm - and it seems to me slightly thinner than in the writing in the listing picture. Surprisingly, the listing doesn't show how good the quality of the pens is. they don't smudge and the edge of the line is nice and smooth compared with a lot of similar pens which have a nasty jagged edge if you look closely. The tin feels cheap but is just about good enough to keep.Overall it's almost five stars but I am not quite enthused enough to round up.

The pack of "intense" Coloured Fine Point Permanent Markers from BiC, comes with 5 pens of colours: "Sunset Orange", "Hot Aqua", "Fandango Pink", "Key Lime" and "Yellow Blaze". The colours are similar to those normally associated with highlighting pens, and are vibrant on a variety of different materials (I include a photo of the various inks on Paper, and on a CD). The triangular nib allows for both fine "normal" writing thickness lines, and thicker highlighting lines which is a nice feature. The ink is fast to dry, taking about two seconds to set before becoming smudge-proof. The rubber-effect grip towards the nib is also extremely comfortable to hold. Overall this is a great pen set and a useful addition to any stationary set /pencil case or tool box!
