There are many marker pens with rather thick or broad nibs that will work well with printed and inkjet printable disks, but those with finer points do not always work with equal ease. Some work very well but only on the smoother pre-printed surfaces of the disks but barely at all on the matte surfaces on the inkjet printable disks. These work quite well on both although they have a slight tendency to collect stray fibres that derive from the absorbent printing surface, and which blur the written line slightly.Unlike some of the lesser brands, these do not use the harsher solvents that may attack the disk surface but are alcohol-based and therefore safer.There are times when the pen may appear to be exhausted,

The trend these days seems to be for the market to sell pens whose ink is purported to be waterproof, but without the guarantee of permanency, which is not good enough for me. In this respect, the Staedtler range has never let me down. The ink contained by this design is virtually unsmearable within a couple of seconds of application. It does bleed through cheap notepaper onto an underlying surface, but when used on less absorbent material the ink stays where it's put, indelibly stuck. Great for addressing envelopes, writing cheques, and doing line drawings, etc.

The fineness of the tip makes this highly suitable for labelling discs you make yourself, and the steady flow of ink makes the result as neat as your writing will allow.I've tried alternatives marketed specifically for the purpose, some of which are too broad to be suitable, but even the fine ones don't do the job any better than these.I also like being able to buy a box of black pens, without having to buy colours I don't want.

Most pens sold as DVD markers are too thick -- fine for the disc title, but useless for providing details of what's recorded.These really are superfine, and write smoothly and precisely on all the discs I've tried (Verbatim, HP and TDK DVD-R, TDK and Digistore BD-R, Verbatim BD-RE).The price is fair, and you don't have to buy a load of colours you don't want.

Overhead projector markers re-branded for the 21st century as CD/DVD markers, these have many uses around the home and office. A good quality permanent marker. Useful for marking plastics, glass and ceramics for DIY, creating temporary labels on PVC tape (for cables, on your mixing desk etc).

I needed some new ones because my old ones were drying up. I previously bought some from amazon but some of them were dried up when I opened them so I bought staedtler knowing they were the best and I was right to do so they write well on disks with a thin line without smudging

These pens cost a little bit more than the competitors but are still quite cheap. And for this you get a pen which writes on a CD or DVD and doesn't wipe off. Just the job.

Great pens ? for work as I’m a phlebotomist and writing on the bottles is difficult because of smudging. No more!!!! these pens dry really quickly and no smudges ?

These pens work really well, a nice fine tip makes writing on CD's and DVD's easy and yet they're still bold enough to work on freezer containers.

I use these pens to write on plant labels and they are very good. Very fine tip and the writing doesn't wash off in the rain or fade in the sun.

I use the pen for writing dates on food and other perishable goods bought on the internet. Very useful indeed
