This is a power hungry toy that takes a bit of getting used to, so practice on a grotty crayon first not a costly artists pencil (or of that ilk), the pressure applied to the item to be sharpened directly affects the noise and sharp point ratio. Big growl vis sharp point. Fab toy for Petrol Heads over 14 years of age. Sharpenings draw could be larger and less fiddly to fit but that is almost in the "So What" Category, its fun and its practical if you like Top Gear and using pencils. More a working Model Novelty than a toy. My "over 14" recipients loved it, but I did give them batteries too (4 x AA).

Having read the previous review, our house completely disagree. We think this is great and as an added benefit sharpens pencils very well. The only downside for us was it's quite loud. However, fantastic gift for any Top Gear fans!

I bought this after my year 6 class had completed their SAT exams. It makes a realistic noise and the technique requires a little time to master sharpening pencils effectively but now our pencils have never been so sharp.

It is a very enjoyable and functional piece of kit. Like anything that is made as a novelty item, it has to be treated with care. Can be heavy on batteries but in all a useful and entertaining gadget!

didn't know what to think after reading some of the negative reviews, but ordered it anyway and it is great fun.first the roaring engine and after that it sharpens your pencils very quickly.

Well worth the money and a perfect gift for Top Gear Fans.What a noise on sharpeningAND it really does sharpen pencils!!!!!

I like anything that bring the kid out in me, the grandkids like the sound it make when sharpening their pencils

Excellent tool, does what it says on the tin. Beware! You may end up with an awful lot of very short pencils!
