I'm not a man but, apparently, I read as carefully (i.e., carelessly) as my husband does. This is, it seems, a facial scrub for men. That slipped right by me. But, heck, I'm not giving it to my husband. I love this stuff. He can get his own. It's really, really gritty so you get your money's worth. A little goes a long way and it makes my skin feel squeaky clean and soft.Claims for the product are that it "effectively tones, exfoliates and promotes cell renewal, improving smoothness and revitalizing the complexion". Sound great, right? Actually, what it does is clear off the top layer of dead or dry skin cells, leaving nice smooth skin cells in their place. Any exfoliator will do this. But it is extremely effective, much more so than many other scrubs I have used. However, because it is so gritty and effective, if you have sensitive skin I'd advise using this sparingly, wetting the face well before applying the scrub and scrubbing gently. I go at it like I'm trying for a completely new face (no luck so far) and don't feel any irritation but then my husband says I am a bit insensitive. The gritty texture is due to cornmeal and walnut shell powder as the scrub particles. That's inoffensive, but there are other ingredients that may not appeal to some consumers. There's perfume added for fragrance and there are at least two types of paraben. I like it anyway. It may be the best scrub I've ever used. It is somewhat reminiscent of St. Ives apricot scrub, but it's scrubbier.

The Baxter of california facial scrub is just the thing to remove the grime of spending the day in the city. It’s a thick oatmeal coloured paste that comes out of the metal tube like toothpaste. Applying to your face you can feel the non plastic exfoliators on your skin. It’s not harsh like sandpaper but it does a good job getting the oils and dust from your skin. It doenst foam up but don’t try and use it like a mask - use a small amount apply and repeat. Don’t coat yourself in it - washing it off would be tricky. One use and my skin felt clean but not dried out.; having some left on my hands it felt good cleaning my hands with it too. The packaging recommends using it every other day which i followed. After use I followed up with my trusty Kiel’s face moisturiser and the days damage looked undone.I really like that Baxter’s are using nut shells and cornmeal rather than the micro plastic beads a lot of products switched to. The first time i used an exfoliator it was a natural one and I have a fondness for them. It doesn’t small harshly chemical; it does a good job cleaning your face. Just rinse more than you think you should - after I would avoid using it in the shower i was finding little pieces of days later.

I searched for a long time to find a facial scrub that worked well on skin with stubble and didn't leave an after scent. A friend recommended Baxter of California and I've been hooked ever since.First off, if you have sensitive skin I don't think this product would be right for you. At times it can feel like rubbing sand mixed with shards of glass all over your face. However, that may be what makes it so effective. After using it I feel like I've taken not only the dead skin off, but probably a few extra layers as well. This is great if you have a beard or stubble since other facial scrubs don't seem to penetrate beneath the hairs. It leaves your face feeling refreshed and skin feeling smooth. It also seems to help with in grown hairs after shaving.I would recommend using it only once or twice a week. More than that and you run the risk of scrubbing your face off. You would also be wasting a very expensive product. At $17 its not cheap, but in this case a little goes a long way. I use a pea drop sized amount once a week in the shower. It also pairs well with Baxter of California face wash to help cleanse the skin you just scraped clean.I would highly recommend this product.

I’ve tried a few of these over the years, and never really stuck with them. However I was definitely willing to give this a shot as I’ve heard many good things about Baxter’s of California. There is I’m sure a place for this in most peoples grooming routine, it’s just you’ve got to find the time, or actually remember to do get it out of the cupboard and use it. I decided to use it post shave, as I couldn’t recall when was best to use it.It comes in a really smart white tube with simple black writing on it. I pealed off the little foil lid and gave it a sniff. Nothing. Squeezed a medium pea size out and sniffed again. Faint almonds, not at all unpleasant. Then I worked the grey, gritty paste into my face, now it smelt like like full on marzipan - very please thank (if you like almonds). There is no real tingling sensation as you get with some brands, no menthol that I could detect. But it feels like it’s doing something and takes a few goes to wash off. It did seem to make my skin feel clean and tight after.I like this and it looks great in the bathroom cabinet.

The Baxter of California brand was founded in 1965 by Baxter Finley with his skin conditioner formulated to protect men's skin from the sun and sea on the American West Coast. The brand now produces many more grooming products for men, with a lot of them currently available from Amazon. This exfoliating face scrub for men is made from natural ingredients, with no plastic micro-beads, and is intended for use on your damp face and neck once or twice a week as required. The natural ingredients include honey and lavender, plus cornmeal and walnut shell powder, giving the cream a pleasant texture and a refreshing fragrance that is difficult to define. The cream may seem a bit expensive at fifteen pounds for a 120ml tube currently from Amazon, but a little goes a long way and even with two applications per week this tube should last for quite a few months. Although aimed at the men's grooming market, my wife has also tried the scrub and does not find it too harsh for her skin so I might have to share the tube with her!

The tube is more like a toothpaste tube than the usual face scrub containers. This is a good thing because it means that you will only press out as much - or rather - as little is required. About 1-1.5 cm of it squeezed out is absolutely fine for a good face and neck scrub. As it is only supposed to be used a couple of times a week, this tube will last quite a long time. The consistency is like a thick paste with sand corns in it and it also feels like that when you scrub it into the skin. This means that you don't want to rub too hard when applying the scrub as it is pretty rough on the skin.As you rub it, it gets softer and more liquid and once it has been washed off completely, the skin is left very clean feeling and lookingThe only thing is that you have to use a good moisturiser afterwards as along with the excess oil and grease, it also leaves the skin a bit dry.It might be on the expensive side, but we would happily recommend it for a good scrub.

When applying this for the first time I was greeted with an unexpected but pleasant scent reminiscent of marzipan. I guess something like cocoa butter would be a more obvious comparison for a product like this, and it lists walnut, but I'm afraid I'm gonna have to stick with the almond and honey aroma of marzipan.Either way, it smells fantastic. It feels fantastic too. Well, as long you want to feel the effects of a proper scrub working on your face. This is the real deal and gets straight to work on exfoliation and the results have been most welcome. As always, this is reflected in the price. On this page it's three times as much as the kind of thing you'll find in your local supermarket from L'oreal or Nivea. The thing is, it's more than three times as good. Those products are all well and fine, something like this could change your life, or at the very least your skin.

A delicious exfoliating facial scrub. This feels very rough, with quite large particles, when it squeezes out of the tube, but once it's rubbed into your hands then applied to your face, it feels amazing. There is a delicate fragrance of almonds, so if you like marzipan you will be happy. It goes on beautifully and feels like it's really doing some good to your skin and pores. The effect is very pleasing, and after you have washed off the scrub the skin feels very soft and clean indeed, ready for a light moisturiser (as this has no tightening or drying effect itself.) This is the second product I've tried from Baxter and they are high quality, gimmick-free brand. Heed well the advice not to get near your eyes,I did get a little in my eye and it produces a mild scratch that disappears after a minute or two. I heartily recommend this great facial scrub.

Having used the Baxter of California face wash I thought I'd give the face scrub a go. I usually use a face scrub twice a week to get rid of any dead skin and to keep my face feeling smooth. So far I love it, the smell is great and the scrub granules are reasonably sized. I generally prefer quite small scrub granules, but size tends to vary by brand. In this they are made from cornmeal and walnut shell powder so none of your plastic beads here. I always try and use a scrub that has something natural in it for scrubbing the face. The tube is also reasonably sized and you only need to use a small amount. Using it twice a week it should last me about 6 months or so at this rate.Price wise it is more expensive than some of the other brands that I use, but it is a nice product and it will last a while.

Fantastic face scrub, designed to be used once or twice a week this comes packaged beautiful simplistic and even though the tube is top heavy it has no issues standing up on your bathroom shelf.I have used lots of different face scrubs and like most however this one tops them all. The scent is oddly present and so is the feeling when slowly massaging the paste into your skin. The cornmeal and walnut shell powder really does get into pours easily and it feels very gritty so a small amount is needed with little effort when applying to your skin.Brilliant for a pre shave wash as it opens all your pours for a more effective shave. This product is going onto my list of repeat purchases and is worth the £15 price. It leaves my face soft to touch with no dry patches. Recommended

Baxter of California Facial Scrub is meant for men, but if other genders like something a bit more scrubby then this is for you too! This facial scrub has lager particles (cornmeal and walnut shell powder) than many other facial scrubs so you can really feel it doing it's job while you're massaging it into your face, I'm a woman but I can see this working well on mens skin well to help keep skin from becoming rough or from getting a load of ingrown hairs after shaving. A little goes a very long way too so for the current price of £10.50 it's really good value as it lasts a while if using once or twice per week. The smell is AMAZING as it smells just like marzipan which is a huge selling point for me.

Wow. I’ve had a lot of scrubs in my life from cheap to luxury and this one knocks them all out of the park! From the very first use the amount of scrub in this product is exceptional and actually took me by surprise in a good way. I can see why they recommend this only once or twice a week as the scrub would almost be too much for any more. After one use my skin felt so much nicer and smoother. The scent was a tiny bit feminine but you’d only know this as you are scrubbing your face it isn’t overpowering at all.I’ve never heard of Baxter if California but I’m interested to see what else they have now!

Without the shadow of a doubt the best scrub I've EVER USED!!! Wouldnt recommend for a lady to use as the scrub is extremely sharp and coarse, you need to "man-up" whilst using it. The only issue I have with it is that I dislike two things to eat and smell, celery and marzipan... This stuff has an extreme marzipan aroma which I can just about bear with whilst using it but it is intense, to say the least. In use a small dollop the size of a fingernail will cleanse your face impressively, I find that my really oilly and greasy skin stays less oilly for a couple of days after using this.

This is a fairly harsh exfoliant with a sandy content that takes care of any skin imperfections with ease – you need to be gentle and I would heed the suggestion of use once or twice per week, probably erring on the side of caution with a maximum use once weekly. It leaves skin feeling softer and smooth with no lingering scent from the product, which is good as it smells slightly odd to me. A small pea-sized amount will cover the beard area, so the tube will last a good time. Use with caution and a light touch for best results.

This exceeded my expectations. It comes in a tube that resembles a toothpaste tube.It smells really nice — like marzipan. My face feels fresh and clean after use.It effectively exfoliates your skin. I wouldn't use it everyday, though — I think every other day at most. But even once a week is sufficient for me.The particles are just the right size — neither too big nor too small — it has the perfect amount of grit. It's definitely suitable for men and probably also for women. I use it before shaving.
