Effaclar is easily the best face wash I’ve ever used. I had a dermatologists prescription for the medicated version 12-13 years ago to battle my complexion in high school and was truly surprised with how well it cleans your skin. Now I’m even more thrilled to find La Roche-Posay’s products now available over the counter all these years later including this deep cleanser and it’s still as good as I remember.It takes very little of this concentrated product to cover your entire face. It quickly foams up in volume when you massage it in and as a bearded guy it has no issues getting down to my skin. It washes away just as quickly and leaves your skin feeling uniquely clean.

Not sure what it is about this stuff. It's pricey for a face cleanser but at the same time it takes a tiny dab and it lasts forever and if it works, it's worth it. I have had this stuff for several months. I wanted to make sure and give it a fair review since I'm a woman and my skin is affected depending on the time of month it is. I usually flair up and it starts calming down and then by the time my skin is getting better, another onset. I have large poors and also very pale skin. I don't have horrible skin with tons of acne scars but I do have the same areas that break out over and over like on my cheeks and it leaves uneven skin tone while healing...which it never fully does.

I almost never write reviews, but this one really stands out. I'm over 40 and have always had super oily skin and really, really big pores on my nose and cheeks. I've always been self conscious and embarrassed. I wear makeup and it seems like I've never been able to go 2 hrs without blotting and just looking and feeling gross. I'm also a notorious cheapskate so have never used "fancy" skin care products. I purchased this after a few particularly intense months of feeling like I looked awful.WELL. If you're familiar with Leslie Baumann's book _The Skin Type Solution_, this is one of the face washes she recommends for oily skin. Since I also have sensitive skin (my skin type is OPWS), I was worried that it would be too drying for me, but I really do like this! The foaming action is definitely more subtle than other foaming cleansers I've used, but it suds up nicely and has a light, pleasant scent that is non-irritating.Since it contains salicylic acid, it's designed for oily and acne-prone skin. I’ve had hormonal acne and oily skin for years, my pregnancy and birth of my child obviously didn’t help any... I’ve tried SO.MANY.WASHES. I’ve tried medication from the dermatologist, both topical and pill form. I’ve tried birth control. I take prenatals. I’ve tried natural washes.. literally anything the internet has recommended hasn’t worked for me.I bought this 8 days ago and I already see a difference!!! I’ve considered ordering a back stock of them in case it’s discontinued or unavailable because this is the most hope I’ve had in years. I have sensitive skin and this doesn’t irritate it at all. The scent isn’t all the appealing but that’s not really what we buy face wash for, is it?

About a year ago, I developed hormonal acne and tried everything (oral prescriptions, expensive prescription creams, OTC products, etc.) to get it under control. Nothing worked. My dermatologist suggested Effaclar as a daily face wash for my anti-acne regimen. I was surprised by how gentle it is. My skin has become increasingly sensitive with age, plus add on the hormonal breakouts and it was irritated all the time. Effaclar has a creamy texture and it lathers up nicely. My face feels squeaky clean after each use and isn't dry or irritated at all. I'm not saying Effaclar solved my skin problems. But as far as anti-acne face washes go, I haven't found anything on the market that is more gentle,

Since puberty I have suffered with oily skin(unfortunately). I have tried many products on the market that are suppose to combat oily skin but only result in drying my skin. I have been using this product for approximately 1 week and I love the results. I used to wash my face many times a day in order to combat my oily skin. With this product I only use it mornings and results last all day which is unbelievable. Don’t get me wrong, I still get oily skin by the end of the day but it is very minimal, not noticeable. My face does not dry out either. La Roche-Posay you have done a great job on this product and now you have a life-long customer. No more oily skin for me.! My girlfriend even noticed the difference!

I usually had fairly oily but clear skin, with large pores and blackheads. Around my mid-twenties I started getting a lot of hormonal acne around my mouth and chin area. I've tried a lot of different things, including really expensive face washes, customized skin care routines, prescriptions, and this works better than any of them, without making my face itchy or red. I use it once every morning and once at night, and my skin always feels really clean and balanced, not dry or irritated, just right. It's more expensive than some brands but for me it's worth every penny, and has actually saved me a lot of money b/c I just stick to this and a moisturizer with sunscreen, and a face mask once a week.

My skin seems to have changed in the years since baby, and I was getting frustrated that the once guaranteed items seemed to irritate, cause oil and generally make things worse. Clinique no longer seemed to help and some of the cheaper grocery store brands were useless too. I found it in Target originally then started to order online. I like the foam cleanser part it just seems softer. It feels fantastic on my skin, it leaves it much softer and with a cleaner better feeling rather than others that I felt left my face like I had just used 409 on it rather than an expensive facial cleaner. I purchased the matching moisturizer and I don't think I'm ever looking back. Less acne,

I started using the entire Effaclar line when I was 17 back in 2008. My acne was horrible, some cystic but mostly just bright red and plump bumps everywhere, cluttered on my face, neck, and back/shoulders. Hayley Williams of Paramore actually said in an interview I had read at the time that this is what she used on tour, so of course I begged for it. Immediately this face wash surprised me. It smells clean, very little is needed, and quickly did I see results. My face wasn't too dry and it never has lost effectiveness over the years- even through the hormonal nightmare my pregnancy with twins was. My skin is happy, feels and looks healthy.

This is the 3rd time I’ll order this. I have Rosacea, adult acne and super oily face with open pores. I found that most a Rosacea products tend to focus on dry skin more than oily skin. They help with my redness but doesn’t have any oil control, and after washing my face, it still feels oily. Even though this isn’t a product specially focus on Rosacea, is so gentle, that I had no side effects whatsoever, no stinging or burning feeling, no additional redness, nothing! I tried La Roche Possay Rosaliac products, and they’re gentle as well, but this one actually deep clean my pores, the face feels squeaky clean, like never before!! Plus, it doesn’t dry my skin.

This is a wonderful cleanser. I've been switching between cleansing products for the last 15 years but stopped ever since I came across this one. You need about 1/2 a pea-size dap to create a rich leather and after washing your face feels incredibly clean and smooth. I have visible, big pores (disgusting) but this cleanser at least gives me the impression that my pores are both tighter and purified! I highly recommended before every other cleansing La Roche-Posay products (which I've tried all out). This works for me. Now, I acknowledge that it might not be suitable for everyone, but that's why one researches and cross references before purchasing....

I have been dealing with acne for over twenty years now, so I have tried a lot of products. This foaming cleanser actually does what is says it will do, and cleanses my face very well. I have way less blackheads/whiteheads; no mask, scrub, nose peel sticky thing has ever worked as well as this wash on the persistant blackheads on my nose (yuck). I love it. I just ordered the Effaclar toner so I am hoping that is just as good as this cleanser. I would highly recommend this face wash to anybody with oily/acne prone skin. A little goes a long way, it foams up nice and thick, one little squirt is enough to use for my face, shoulders, chest and back

I have suffered from severe acne for several years. From age thirteen to present date ( I am twenty-five ). I have tried everything from drug store brands to proactiv to dermologica. I had some success with dermologica as far as treating it, but not with preventing it. I have been been using La Roche-Posay Effaclar products for a few weeks now. I must say that I find my skin clearing up quite nicely. Slowly but nicely. I feel that my skin looks better every morning. I use this foaming cream twice a day. It does deliver results. I am happy with this purchase.

I have combination skin. Recently I have experienced an outbreak of acne on my cheeks and chin. I bought this due to the high reviews. I really like this cleansing foam! It is gentle, it makes my skin feel "fresh" and it has a pleasant smell. Also, it does not leave my skin dry which is something that is very common with other products. I have only been using this for 2 weeks, but I have already noticed a change in my acne. Even my husband commented on how much clearer my skin was looking. I think this product is definitely worth a shot!
