This is one of the more interesting shampoos I have tried in recent times and your reaction to it will depend on your hair care priorities. The first thing you notice is the fragrance which is very distinctively of mint-it is by no means unpleasant, but may not be to everyone's taste especially as it is very slightly astringent against the skin. The liquid has a gel like texture which creates a really rich lather which will offer good coverage even on very long hair. It then washes out easily enough leaving the hair cleansed, but it has to be said not especially shiny if that is important to you. It needs a conditioner afterwards to really get the nutrition and finish that most will be looking for. However, there is a big upside here. If you suffer from a dry scalp as I do then this is really good at settling it down with less flaking and irritation apparent even after the first wash. Clearly this is where the wheat protein and coconut extract really make a positive contribution. In short this is a much more attractive option to those looking for a dry scalp shampoo than those who simply want a good quality frequent use one especially as this is at a high price point. It comes in a practical salon style dispenser and is paraben free, but for me personally the initially positive results if they continue will encourage me to keep using this one primarily for my dry scalp.

I’ve been using this shampoo for the last fortnight and have really taken a shine to it. It lathers easily and has a great minty scent, although it’s worth noting that it doesn’t linger and my hair hasn’t smelled minty afterwards. However, I do find that it cleans well, and rinses out quite readily. Despite not using any conditioner with it my hair feels very nice to touch afterwards too – very soft, clean and silky. Also, after washing with Baxter’s it lasts really well and even a couple of days later it still feels and looks clean. I’d worried in case that meant it was making my hair dry, but it certainly doesn’t seem that way.Like some other reviewers I had a problem getting the pump dispenser to work. The top just turned and turned on mine with no sign of opening, and it took a firm blow to the pump with the heel of my hand to finally release it. Apart from that I can say that this shampoo really is excellent, and I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending it. I’ve tried lots of different shampoos and this is the best of them, even using it without conditioner.

This shampoo comes in a blue no frills utilitarian cylindrical container with a black plunger. Designed for men &tested in Baxter Finley Barber & shop in Los Angeles. I assume this is part of a Men’s range sold in Los Angeles. The appearance of the container is the opposite to feminine. A plain appearance overall that is quite smart.I like the black plunger, it makes it easy to dispense the shampoo which is not runny but smooth and flowing. You have complete control as you press the plunger. You can just let out exactly how much you want to use. Nifty. The shampoo has a slight mint scent that is not at all overpowering. It seems to disappear when the hair dries.Lathering well and rinsing easily my hair feels exceptionally clean. The container says that it is for all hair types with a strengthening system which contains: wheat protein, coconut extract, vitamin E & mint scent. It is also paraben-free.Only time will tell if it is strengthening, I have been using it for three weeks & my hair does feel softer and cleaner.

I have to say I had a complete turnaround of opinion on this shampoo. Despite its startlingly high price, it has the look of something you might find in your local pound emporium. It honestly looks really cheap to me, though I assume they were trying for "understated". Also at first use, it was nothing spectacular. Smells quite nice, doesn't irritate the scalp - but neither does my usual supermarket shampoo. I couldn't fathom how it could cost so much. After a few days, I got two unsolicited comments from friends saying they liked my new hairstyle ("..or have you had it cut?"). I hadn't really noticed but when I looked in a mirror I could see that my hair (which is annoyingly fine and 'flat')just looked like it had more body and style to it and, yes, it did look somewhat different even though I hadn't changed my extremely-casual wash-and-go routine. I don't know how this works but if you have fine hair and would like a bit more body and shape to it (and can stomach the cost) it may be worth a go.

The ‘Daily Fortifying Shampoo’ by Baxter of California is a high-end shampoo and conditioner for giving your hair a good clean whilst conditioning and nourishing it.The shampoo comes in a relatively plain looking blue pump-dispenser bottle that dispenses pretty much the perfect amount of shampoo (for me anyway) in one pump. The first thing you’ll notice about the shampoo when you apply it is the minty fragrance that it gives off. Upon initial application the mint smell really is quite strong, but gives a cleaning, fresh sensation to washing your hair. The shampoo goes on well and has a good enough consistency to it to allow you to cover a great deal (if not all)of your head with one dispensed pump. After application and washing off your hair feels soft and healthy and very clean. There’s a lingering minty smell, but this gradually fades. All in all a very good shampoo and conditioner. Although the price clearly reflects this!

I used this shampoo together with the recommended conditioner, and found it good for my dry scalp. I have very dry hair, and my scalp does itch on occasion, although I don’t have dandruff. The shampoo lathers well in hard water, and has a fairly strong scent of mint - which I am not particularly keen on. I did a double wash, using a small amount of shampoo each time, and my hair felt very clean and devoid of any product build-up.I liked the shampoo; it left my hair soft, shiny and healthy-looking when left to dry naturally. The price does seem a little steep, however - by performing a double wash - not only did my hair look better, but I also used less shampoo.Do I think this product will ‘fortify’ and leave my hair stronger?Only time will tell. Overall verdict: a good - though not exceptional - product, but personally, I don’t really like the fragrance.

Although I am a little short of hair on my head these days I do still like to use a nice shampoo on the remaining locks. I have also “tested” this by leaving it in the “guest” bathroom and asking visitors what they thought of it. General consensus is that it is a pleasant minty aroma shampoo. It lathers well and leaves the hair feeling clean and soft. Whether prolonged use actually does anything more than this is something I will monitor but I am not expecting anything startling. The review is positive so why only four stars. Well that is because of the price. At the time of this review this admittedly decent sized bottle was twenty four pounds.I would want want something very special indeed to justify that price.

Can't esape the fact this is £24 at time of writing which is very steep for a guy's shampoo and conditioner. I've bought Tonui & Guy ones at a similar price so it's in that range and similar product, i.e. tingly minty. I got the minty and it leaves your hair squeaky clean but got no tingles :( My wife likes using it too and she's fairly fussy about her hair products. It comes in a ice large blue bottle emblazzoned with the Baxter of California label (honestly, never heard of them but looks a wee bit fancy).Wouldn't buy again just based on price and for what I use it for (Dove have a nice minty caffeine mens shampoo and conditioner for a fraction of the price).

I like this shampoo, its pretty big and has lasted a fair bit so far. Because of the dispenser its easy to use as much as you really need and it also creates less mess, its also easier to store and put away. You only really need to use a little bit and it does make my hair feel softer and easier to manage. One thing I would say though and why really I knocked a star off is the mint scent is quite strong so you really only need use a little bit otherwise it can get overpowering I was quite surprised as to how strong it was considering the other ingredients in this.

Has a very strong minty smell, but the scent doesn't linger in your hair afterwards. Creates a good thick creamy lather, washes well but not quite 'squeaky clean'. Hair when dry feels nice but perhaps not as soft as some shampoos I have used. It's a big bottle but even so this is very expensive. Given that this is labelled as "part 1" of a "strengthening system" if you are buying the lot you probably have to be considerably minted, even before the other products in the range. One for the conspicuous consumer.

I use this product once a week to clean away the build-up from my regular shampoo, which it does very nicely. It comes at a premium price although the bottle is quite large and has lasted me well. It's light enough for frequent use and has a strong minty smell which I find quite refreshing but I suspect won't be to everyone's taste. Personally I wouldn't pay this much for a shampoo; it's good quality but not outstanding enough to justify the cost in my opinion.

This is a fairly large bottle but still a hefty price so I would have to be bowled over, especially if the conditioner was added.First problem was opening it - the pump action was reluctant to pop up - had to enlist strong hands husband!A faintly tinged blue gel, lathered up well, minty smell - very pleasant - washed out nicely. Hair does feel soft and shiny so far. Highish cost wold mean I would think twice - so far not different from cheaper products.

Minty smelling shampoo which comes in a rather plain pump action container, which does nothing to sell the product. The shampoo washes the hair well and the minty smell does not linger in the hair, it seems to have quite good anti flaky scalp properties, speaking as someone who has suffered with dandruff in the past.I have to say though that for the price you can get more bang for the buck so to speak, as this is rather expensive even if the bottle is big.

This is an excellent shampoo. The bottle looks a bit industrial which belies the top quality hair beauty product which lies within. The fragrance is pleasant but subtle. The lather is thick, rich and creamy. It rinses well and doesn't strip the hair of its natural oils. My wife and daughters have lots of hair and they agreed that it was up there with the best shampoos they have ever used. They felt it left their hair looking shiny, healthy, big and bouncy.

21.4.2018

This is a shampoo with coconut extract and mint – though it doesn’t seem to react in that tingly way with the skin in as a strong a way as some mentholated shampoo. The shampoo lathers well, the mint smell doesn’t linger and the shampoo is not heavy and doesn’t leave a residue, leaving the hair feeling soft, light and clean. However it is blooming expensive for a shampoo and there is no getting away from that.
