Graphics / Visuals: 5/5Sound / Music / Voice Acting: 4/5Gameplay: 4/5I'd seen this title a few times in GAME stores, but passed it by because with indie/budget titles, you never know whether you're going to end up with a steaming pile of kak or not.Zeno Clash happily proves to be an exception to the rule. The first thing you notice about this game is the visual style, which is wildly original, bizarre, psychedelic and really, really surreal. Think AD&D's Planescape setting mixed in with a touch of Hieronymus Bosch and you're sort of there, certain elements also reminded me of Brian Froud's designs for the 1986 film Labyrinth.The game looks great, and uses Valve's Source engine (used to great effect on Half Life 2,Dark Messiah Of Might And Magic, etc.) and recycles the FPS format to utilise a unique melee combat system. There are also weapons, such as handguns, a musket, crossbow, though these have been given a surreal twist also, and resemble the tooth-shooting gun from ExistenZ.The only sore point for some is that the game is relatively short - it can be completed casually in a day - and requires Steam to install/run, this isn't a hassle, but it's worth bearing in mind. On my system the game would hang upon exiting needing a hard reboot, it turned out that this is a clash between Steam or Zeno Clash with my ZoneAlarm firewall.

Zeno clash is a wonder to behold, when I saw the trailer for the first time I was taken back by how bizarre and different the game looked, I thought there was no way that they could make something playable out of this, glad to be wrong!This first person fighting game pulls off combat between using your fists and the odd arrangement of weapons around wonderfully. It takes a little while to get used to but the game tutors you very well in how to do so, not in an annoying way like lumping you with everything in the first few minutes..Never for a moment was I bored playing this, it's a very engrossing game - I couldn't wait to find out what I would see next..What I will say is not to be expecting Halflife 2 polish but none the less,if you like playing something new and different, it'd be hard not to enjoy this.

If you have been fed up lately with the games that did not bring anything new, this is something for you. The great Source Engine and creativity should blow you away, for well under a fiver there is no excuse not to buy it. It reminds me what I loved about PC games 10+ years ago - so that's that, really nice graphics and it's just crazy weird. Plus I can play it seamlessly on highest settings with intel hd 3000

made on the source engine this is a first person style beat em up game adventure, if you like other source games this is certainly worth it, good story mode
