Quite possibly the finest spinning reels on earth, I heavily fish Lake Michigan and its rivers, I mainly fish Bass, Waleye, Pike, and Muskie, I own 2 4000's, a 5000, and a 6000, Built like if Rolex made bank vaults, smooth as silk, perfect fit and finish, you couldn't ask for a better drag system, incredible torque and power, they have added maybe 20 yards to my casts, I was running my 5000 with 50lb braid and 40lb Flurocarbon Leaders, when I hooked a 28" Waleye and a 31" Northern Pike and literally didn't even fight the fish, just ratcheted up the drag and straight reeled them in, at one point the Waleye was pulling about 14lbs of drag. The 5000 and 6000 are on the heavy side but balance out my heavier rods, the 4000 is an incredible mid weight reel but still very solid. I'll end up replacing all my spinning reels eventually. Some of my fishing buddies needled me a bit for having reels that were "too heavy" for lake fishing, well our first outing shut them up, 2 of my friends have since bought Clash 3000's. Buy this reel, it's worth it!

Great, used it for spinning from the shore for decent pollock on light line (10lb b/s) and I have used it on the boat to catch Ling, mackeral, big wrasse, cod and on a baited flutter jig I even caught a 30lb tope and it coped just fine paired with a Kenzaki Braid 12 - 20lb and a 30lb mono topshot with 80lb braid. It holds about enough 80lb braid to fish in 100 feet of water and still some for those unexpected catches, this is just a 4000 though so for deeper water or even bigger fish, you might want a 5 or 6000. I got this reel after reading Henry Gilbey's review and he was very positive towards this reel so I paid up and I'm not disappointed. Oh, a really fast retrieve is achieveable too.Great reel, best spinner I've ever bought.

I bought the Clash 4000 and loved it so much I bought the 2500 one as well. Very well made spinning reel, I've caught many of freshwater and saltwater fish with itWhat I like-Very solid, made of strong material-Handle is easy on my fingers-Drag is easy to adjust-Saltwater safe-Looks beautiful. the picture isn't far off of what it actually looks likeWhat could be improved-For the price it would be awesome to get another spool or even a carrying case. The $9 Penn neoprene case would be a great free add-on for this reel. Feels a bit like being nickel and dimed in this price range to buy it separate

Would give 5 stars if it was sealed similar to Spin Fisher 5. Excellent reel, very smooth but saltwater can enter via cutouts on spool skirt. That is a real concern here in Hawaii especially with the surf we get here on Hilo side of Big Island. One of our youtubers on Kauai is reporting wind knots with braid line,no such problem encountered by myself,in fact, cast like a dream using Sunline FC 14lb Sniper florocarbon and Airwave Elite rod.Need to close bail by hand after casting, this is a design feature to prevent snapping of a $20 lure due to premature bail closing.

So far I'm impressed, but tuna still not here in force yet, only caught a few bottom dwellers upto 5 lbs, but did catch my personal best 8 lb Calaco, and that fish was angry. Of course all catch and release. Im hoping the Clas will handle up to 35 lb tuna. overall very good product form Penn. it does have a slight tic upon retrieve and my search results says its in all Clashers. I purchased their Torque conventional reel too, it's a winner!

I own over fifteen Penn reels and love them all. I must say that this one is one of my all-time favorites. The weight, drag and smoothness is extremely good. I was recommended to buy this reel (by John Skinner - Saltwater Fishing Expert) combined with a 7' Penn Battalion, Medium Action Rod, for Fluke Fishing. It's such a good combination I just got a second one of the the Reels and Rod. I use (the second setup) for Saltwater Speckled Trout.

Best Reel ive ever used, I use it mostly in the ocean for rockcod/stripebass halibut and shark! The drag is perfect, but the best/valuable feature about the Clash, you can drop it in the sand, water or mud and nothing gets into the gear components!! Price is a lil high considering KastKing makes the same one for 100$ cheaper.

Ive really been enjoying how lightweight and sturdy the 6000 is. The casting is smooth, the drag stands up, and the overall feel is great. I've ordered the 8000 model recently to match up with 12" surf casting rod. I anticipate long casts and a reel that can take on anything from SFL sharks, cobia, snappers, and tapon.

This is a quality reel. I used to really like Quantum reels, but they haven't been that good the past few reels I got so I thought I would try this Penn. I got the 3000 series Clash and I used it for all the fishing I do. Freshwater and Saltwater. Very smooth, no issues after two years now, still working great.

I'm sporting some 20lb braid on this reel and have used it for catching some big reds, flounder, and trout on the river as well as sea bass and snapper offshore. It's the most durable 4000 Penn reel that I have owned so far and I've had a lot of them! Hopefully it keeps performing this well.

Great little reel. Feels dependable and very well constructed. Although time will tell, I have no concerns so far. Very smooth and quick. Great for the price. Using 20 lb braid and matched with a 7' Shakespeare Elite Ugly Stik, I've had a lot of fun with it spinning. Recommended.

In limited use so far, I love it. It's light, smooth and casts a mile. I replaced a Quamtum PT Inshore that was broken in an accident with this Clash and couldn't be happier with it. I"ve yet to catch a big redfish with it to test the drag but I am sure it will hold up fine.

Great especially since the bearings are sealed like the spinfishers minus the weight. This 4000 is slightly heavier than my 3000 fierce. Smoother when reeling in due to the added bearings of course. Love it best penn reel i own. Buddies want a clash too now.

Very nice real, using it on the flat vs my Shimano. Like the Penn better. Can handle some really nice size fish with no effort. Casts well and love the fact that I don't have to use mono first before I put braid on. Also cast very nice.

This is my second Penn reel. These things are built like tanks. Nothing wrong with my first one, 5000 series(a little heavy), just wanted to add another bullet proof reel to the collection. Can't go wrong with Penn's line up of reels.
