"Return to Castle Wolfenstein" is still one of the best FPS games ever made. As a direct sequel, "Wolfenstein" will not dissapoint fans of the series. My excellent appraisal of this game is thanks mainly to the top-quality single player campaign. The multiplayer is average at best and has many flaws - but do not let this put you off buying Wolfenstein, as its single player experience should keep you mesmerised up to the gripping finale.The story mixes in new and fun elements into the traditional "Nazis getting up to not good with forces they think they can control" basis of previous games. Throughout the game you'll encounter both the standard German infantry as well as more fearsome sci-fi enemies.There's also an array of conventional and fantastical weapons to utilise, as well as special "Veil powers" which will allow you to slow down time, deflect bullets and more. The best point I found was the adaptability of the game through the upgrades system - which allows you to tailor your set-up based on which weapons and powers you find work best for you, and of course which you find most fun. The energy weapons are no doubt the most fun to use, as somehow blasting Nazis into thin air with a particle cannon never gets old. I was somewhat dissapointed at first to learn there was no pistol to use in single player, but quickly found this did not really qualify as a problem. The game world is certainly very interesting and engaging, with settings ranging from a castle to a massive zeppelin. You are rewarded for exploring the game world, with hidden items to help you acquire upgrades.While the gameplay is mostly satisfyling, it lacks in some complexity. Problems that need to be solved using the Veil are simplistic (usually just the case of destroying a "Veil inhibitor" in order to pass through a hidden wall), and the developers could have done a lot more with the Veil feature like creating some engaging puzzle elements (albeit perhaps not on the same scale as Valve's "Portal"). Boss battles are fun, but they are of a simplistic "repeat the pattern" style and offer little variey in how you take them down rather than what weapon you use.To briefly sum-up multiplayer, it's certainly not one of the game's strong pints. It lacks in visual quality and gameplay variety, and a "no balanced teams" option means you could find yourself the only person on your team and heavily out-numbered by an opposing team of experienced players (they have learned nothing from recent "Call of Duty" games). But in my opinion it's the fact that the super soldiers and sci-fi weapons are exempt from multiplayer that really strikes the hammer down on multiplayer - it could have been more, so much more.Nevertheless, I would reccomend "Wolfenstein" for the fantastic single player experience, which is certainly a thrill ride to remember.

What else can I say, it has to be the game of the year!! The only competition would be Duke Nukem Forever, which had such a great absorbing storyline I had to play it over.They've taken the original Wolfenstein games and improved them in every aspect, forget COD and Battlefield this is the FPS we've all been waiting for, it even has RPG aspects for the nerd in you!If you don't like this game then there's something wrong with you!!

I bought this for my boyfriend, he loves his games and i thought I would prove to him that I know what a good game is. I did some research and thought he would like it, plus it wasn't like 40 quid (which I think is way too much to pay for a game) so I thought it was a bargain and it turned out fine! He loved it!(unless he just said that to make me feel good about myself)

This shooter is great fun and the graphics are excellent. The plot is Nazi killing with some supernatural shenanigans thrown in. There's plenty of weapons and upgrades, with some well put together setpieces.I found the game gripping - I've completed a third of it in less than a day, and I don't play games too often, and that's because it's hard to put down. Good stuff.

Good game and is alot of fun!!The end of the game is pretty strange when yu go through a time machine or something, i played this game a long time ago so i cant really remember very clearly, but it is still a good game and worth getting!! also it is soo cheap now :)

hey all, at the current time of writing this Wolfenstien is £6.80, and at that price its a bargain indeed, good game, very entertaining with all the crazy german voices and mad plot, much like an good action film, not too much thinkin needed, try f this price!

story has no real ending because the newt wolfenstein games are reboots - againgfx and shooting mechanics are excellent, the framerate (on the 360 at least) isn't even ok (sometimes terrible)don't miss it if you ever enjoyed any wolfenstein game!

If you like playing first person shooters then you have to get this game.This has to be one of the best fps games I have ever played and I have played quite a few.So go and purchase this game,I don't think you will be disappointed.

Great game and so much fun. NPCs are original and weapon upgrade system is sophisticated. Of course considering that this is an older game. Still a lot of fun though!!!! :)
