Study and performs well, could do with some modified designs incorporated. The instructions are well printed but miss the point of being instructions, not showing were the metal plate and washers fit, still any DIY expoert can figure it out.The metal pins have to be installed by you.The figure 8 double washer plates goes underneath the Steel pins and two of the plates would not go into the receptacle! Luckily there are more than you need. The screws and single washer fixing the metal pin from underneath the tool body, tightened with a provided Hex (or Allen) key.WolfCraft:Improvement, add a screw to cock the spares onto the underneath of the body. Simple - do it!Likewise the Hex key, provide a slot to keep it with the tool. Obvious, so obvious a slapped botty would be needed in the design office.Usage, The fact that you can use the body to determine the angle by pressing it to that angled wall is brilliant and saves a lot of hassle in these old house that are not anything like square. You do need to use a slim saw, I found a Japanese Pull saw was the only one that worked, Spear & Jackson Tenon saw just jams. That is what the adjustable metal pins fail to achieve, another design fault. Also needed, obviously is some sort of G or F clamps to told the wood and the tool still before cutting, I assume all people using this would have those.Nice tool, not as convenient as my powered Mitre saw, which will do bigger skirting boards too, but as a portable quick Mitre cutter, this has it's uses and easy that dragging a powered bench cutter upstairs!

I'll be honest here and say that I figured this adjustable mitre box would be about as accurate as a reasonable guess, but having used it I hold my hands up and admit I was wrong. It is accurate. Many years ago I recall Wolfcraft being a bit 'low rent' in the tool dept. but recently I notice that that the quality and general sturdiness seems to be very good indeed. This is no exception. The ABS plastic box is heavy duty and solidly made. Noticeably so. The lever action for different angles is smooth and has no backlash and once secured at the desired angle properly solid. The pins are close enough to mean you need a very thin bladed saw and indeed I found that my Japanese style pull saw was the perfect fit.A thicker hand made tenon saw I have is just too big for the gap in the pins. So if you do buy this add in the cost of a Japanese pull saw. It's obviously accurate to the angle you set but I tried it also against it's inbuilt 45 degree angle for test and picture purposes. As you can see, when checked against a set of milling 1-2-3 blocks the angles are dead on. Certainly good enough for most woodworking.Overall a very good tool.

The mitre box is mostly ready for use on arrival but there is a small amount of straightforward assembly necessary to put the guide pins in place, and it doesn’t take long. It is a typically well-made Wolfcraft product and if this one is like the others I already have then it will be robust and long-lasting. However, I haven’t been using a special saw with this box so to avoid cutting into the plastic I’ve had to be conscious of that and take extra care with cutting when I get close to the base.I have the 70mm model which is too low for cutting skirting boards in my home but has proven to be a good height for coping with trunking and other short work pieces such as edging trim.Holding the material in place can be a little tricky but I have some small clamps which have worked for most things, though not all. Keeping the work piece steady is vital for a really good cut so a built-in clamp would have been very handy. Setting the angles is easy and accurate so I have been pleased with that, and I do think that this is a good tool. With a few changes it could be a great one.

I previously used a Stanley plastic mitre box but this had the drawbacks that (a) you can only make 90 or 45 degree cuts, and (b) it's hard to avoid cutting into the plastic with the saw. This Wolfcraft mitre box solves both of those problems. Slacken the lock knob, place the mitre box into the corner or bay window, adjust it to the desired angle, and tighten the knob to lock it. Using the recommended Wolfcraft saw it slides smoothly between the guides but the wider bar that stiffens the back of the saw allows you to cut through the workpiece but it stops a millimetre above the mitre box itself so you don't cut into the mitre box or damage the teeth of the saw.I've found this allows me to take accurate mitre cuts far quicker than I could previous.A welcome addition to my toolkit.

My old mitre guide was a single wood block which allowed me to do 45 degree cuts and nothing else. To be fair I have had it for about 35 years! This block from Wolfcraft is much more versatile and allows you to check the joint angle using the device and then set it to allow one to cut precisely. The box holds the wood firmly and with a suitable tenon saw a precise accurate cut can be achieved. The guide which comes on the packaging is also helpful. This is well made and will last well. It is intended only for wood up to about 70mm so that is a limitation, but the kind of joints which will benefit from a mitre joint tend to be fairly small in size.It is not the cheapest, but I think it is such a good piece of kit that it is fully worth it.

To be honest I was a bit sceptical about this. If you read the other reviews there’s a mixed bag of opinions but I was pleasantly surprised to find it worked well. Like other reviewers have said you have to be careful with the last few cuts of the saw so you don’t bite into the plastic. I think the main thing is to make sure you use the right saw – many of the complaints seem to emanate from the incorrect tool being used.I was more than happy with the construction. There’s nothing wrong with plastic as long as it’s tough enough for the job and doesn’t fail. Overall this is a good bit of kit and I haven’t had a problem. Just take your time and read the instructions!

Many years ago I had the use of one of these tools, however on changing houses it got lost and since then have made up guides from time to time. But no more since I got the new equivalent of that automatic mitre guide. This is one of the tools that makes you wonder why you struggled making neat corner joints. It is ideal for picture framing as well as general carpentry. Welcome back old friend.

Look, I'm no handyman - in fact my wife actively discourages me from working around the house and repeatedly suggests we 'get someone in' LOL! This piece of kit however is easy enough for even ME to use. Whilst you do need to be careful not to saw into the plastic, I found this easy to use, accurate and it provides an excellent finish - recommended!

Really love this “gadget” I fixed all my mitres on the edging to seal my laminate flooring like a professional around the conservatory , well worth it and it will last me and the family for many years to come. Solid and well designed.

Very well made. Strong and solid. Screws and bits supplied and easily assembled. A little stiff only a little silicon oil needed.Superb tool very accurate and angles great.

Very useful for small door trim and electrical trunking but not big enough for cutting wall skirting. Good quality product -robust and easy to use.
