For aerated type blocks (thermalite et al) these saws simply work. The lack of TCT's on every tooth isn't really an issue, and I guess it keeps the price down. Whilst I'd generally avoid Silverline tools, I'd say this saw is a good value buy.The saw is a good option to cut down noise and dust you'd get from a power saw (when neat cuts are needed), and reduce wastage that you can get using a hammer and bolster. If you're paying for the blocks, this saw will pay for itself quite quickly. Cuts are made with only modest effort, and are pretty quick (under 20 seconds?)Whilst the saw can cut bricks and mortar, we don't see that as the job of this saw, and using it that way is likely to damage the tips, and impair its performance when cutting blocks. So use power tools with diamond blades in those cases, but the hand saw could save the day in some awkward situations.Good buy in my opinion.Read full review...

Bought this to cut a small doorway in a lightweight concrete block wall. I didn't want the dust that you get with an angle grinder so plumped for the manual option. It leaves such a clean cut and is easy to keep to the intended line. It is so neat that the hole looked more like it had been cut out with a knife on plasterboard. Not tried it on anything harder yet but could tell when I was going through the mortar as progress was temporarily slower. I paid about £16 and it was worth every penny. Currently on sale for under £13 so now even more of a bargain. Top marks and great value - 10/10

I got this to help me cut down some concrete fence posts. It worked but it's a bit slow. You have to know when you are about to hit the inner steel support wire. In the end I used a lump hammer rather the saw as it was quicker. That said I'm keeping the saw as I can see how it would cut through brick and mortar easily. It's very well made, light to hold and makes progress cutting through at a tolerably rate. I didn't want to use a power cutter as they scare me.

This saw is ideal for cutting thermalite blocks and for cutting cement out of bed joints. the last one of these i had got alot of use. I bought one may of 2013 and it finally gave up in april of this year. the actual teeth of it lasted a long time. the only downside of it was the handle, as it eventually came lose after all the use it had but i would definately recommend this product as it is an exceptional product for what you pay.

Hard work to cut bricks by hand, and I have tried it only on rather soft bricks. However, the saw cuts well and seems to retain cutting power. Outstanding value for the price, but bear in mind that it is a LONG saw, so may be too long, as well as making too wide a cut, for fine trimming work. But all available hand brick saws seem to be at least 27" long.

Amazing simple solution. I needed to cut through an internal wall, my 1st thought was grinding wheel but the dust made this a non starter. Bought the saw thinking worth a go but not expecting it to work. It did the job cutting through a standard building breeze block with little effort and a minimum of dust. Sometimes things can be too good to be true!

If you dont mind hard work this saw will cut masonary. I used it to cut down a 7 foot high breeze block wall. So that was two 7 foot cuts in a block wall and the saw lost none of its cutting edge. So from my only job with this saw it did exactly what it says it will do. So great value and no complaints.

I decided to use instead of a disc cutter as I wanted to keep the dust minimal as I was cutting inside the house .It worked well cutting through the mortar and breeze block. It was a lot cleaner job to undertake than what it would have been so very happy.

Great piece of kit. Used it for cutting through bricks and concrete to fit a double glazed window. Amazing how it effortlessly sawed through tough brick etc and left a smooth finish.Much cheaper and a lot less dust than buying an angle grinder.

Used this a few times now to cut bricks. Works great. The hard bit is getting the cut started but once you done that it's fine. Ideal If like me you only need to cut the odd brick every now and then and don't want to spend money on power tools.

A really usefull saw for cutting masonry, especially if you are working away from a power source where you would normally use a power cutter. It cuts most bricks quite easily and without the dust associated with power tools.

Went through 8 bricks in total and it still has some life left in it but third of the teeth was gone by the time I got to the fourth brick.Did the job , happy overall but hopes it will last bit longer

I bought this to help me take down a section of breeze block wall and it handled it with ease. We chain drilled a slot at the top of the wall, inserted the saw and worked it down the wall in minutes.
