I needed a replacement hard drive for my 250GB WD drive, so the obvious choice was to go with USB3 and with plenty of space to last. I opted for the Elements over Password Ultra as I wasn't that bothered about all the encryption stuff that comes with that.The drive itself is excellent and performs well. I was surprised at thickness and weight of it (when comparing to my previous 250GB drive). It's about twice the thickness and a little bit heavier (not massively though).Excellent overall.

It is a bit hard to write too many words about an external hard drive, it is not the most exciting type of device in the world. This one is no different.However when plugged into a computer be it windows or mac it works, it holds the backups from my laptop as well as CAD models from solidworks and seems sufficently fast enough to be able to open large solidworks assemblies while operating silently. No real downsides to this product, its not shock or water proof but that is not expected.

Purchased this as I was switching from Windows to Mac.Although this HDD is formatted to NTFS default which is supported by windows and read only on Mac. It was very simple to reformat to exFAT (done on windows PC) so it be used both on windows and Mac.It was simple to transfer my files from my windows pc to my new Mac via the HDD and I was able to carry over all of my files.It’s very small so takes up little space and has a lot of storage so I’m very happy with the product.

I've used WD drives for my storage for years now and this latest model is great. Light and portable and well built. My next generation laptop will have USB 3 but for now USB 2 works well. Bigger (older) WD drives has Firewire 800 ports which are useful for Mac users but for Photoshop (still image) files, this drive works perfectly well. It also makes a good scratch disk if you're using other drives or your hard disk as the host drive for working on large .ps files. I'd recommend it.

I required a modern high capacity external HDD to back up manually my Linux Mint desktop PC. I chose the "Elements" model to keep things straightforward but I was pleasantly surprised at just how simple it was to incorporate it. It just worked out of the box, instantly recognised by the OS and became just another drive. It's preformatted in NTFS which is clearly compatible. I'm restricted to USB 2.0 so I can't comment on transfer speed. For me it's been an excellent purchase.

I am not good with computers and I haven't had it up and running long. I found I had to ring wd to get help with basic set up. I needed to initialize the product and WD passports were really fantastic at giving me help and I soon understood what I needed to do. I would recommend if you do have a set up issue you contact the wd help line provided as the support number via argos. It takes all the frustration out install and stops you creating more problems for yourself.

Was looking for something to export all my e-mails, photos and itunes folders from both a desktop and laptop, which were both running Windows XP, onto a new PC.Don't be put off by the box - although it doesn't list XP as a compatible operating system, it worked fine and was a much quicker way of transferring all the data. I have left my itunes on this drive and plan to direct my new desktop to read from an external drive.Very happy with the purchase.

I bought this to make scheduled recordings from my LG TV (OLED55C9MLB). I tried another HDD which has it’s own power supply but this was not reliable; it seemed not to start up fast enough when the TV switched itself on. This new HDD becomes accessible to the TV software instantly and this may be because it is powered from the USB socket on the TV. Please note that I’m not an expert so this interpretation might well be wrong.

My Xbox One hard drive developed a bad sector on the last update so I wanted to try an external drive that would allow me to install all games, apps, and captures to it. This formatted quickly and easily, and was picked up straight away when I did the factory reset to wipe the internal hard drive. I then changed the settings to make everything go on this HDD, and since then I've used it without thinking about it.

After recent software upgrade on ps4 you can add external drives to enhance your storage ability.This drive fits the bill perfectly. Fast transfer small no external power needed. Games are now stored on the drive with only save data kept on system. I now have 2.5 terabytes ps4. Enough for all my big games.Just plug it in the system formats it and away you go. it is that easy.Want the space? Buy it.

Nicely designed compact drive, with big storage. Using it on a 2017 Apple MacBook through a 'dongle' seems a bit slow, but then my other travel drives are SSD and lightning fast but only have 500 GB space vs 2 TB. Since this is a very compact hard portable hard drive, my only concern is that it holds up over time with the occasional knocks such a drive usually receives. It's too early to tell yet.

This is a great purchase for someone who does enjoy gaming or playing lots of different games because it allows you to easily store extra games. Im so glad I don’t have to keep re downloading games and can have them sat waiting for me to be played. So easy to set up and I think it’s a stylish design that’s portable and not too chunky.Overall a great product for a great value for money.

I got this to basically play games and do high resolution animations and video projects etc on my pc that only holds 200 SSD. I can easily install games onto it and play with very little lag, more than enough space. Only downside is the length of the wire makes it all a bit octopussy, but I reckon you can easily replace it with a shorter wire to avoid it. Would highly recommend!!

Nice package, nice box and internal packaging, short USB cable included. Start computer, plug in USB and in a few moments the external drive should appear on your This PC list (if using a Windows PC).Good amount of available storage, I have run .avi files from mine no problem.Good all rounder and highly portable.No pre-loaded software on drive as far as I could tell.

I purchased this to expand a back up set I am using. The drive is the right price, right size and has a decent speed for what I want. This did not affect me, but the only downside you might find is that it does not come with any software so you will need to get your own. However, most operating systems come with an inbuilt one so this should not be a problem.
