I was looking for an external 1tb drive for my Windows XP laptop and according to the website this would work fine, so I bought it. When I tried to connect it, the laptop wouldn't see the drive so it was totally useless for the purpose. I was forced to re-format for Mac OSX and use my Apple MacBookPro instead. Live chat couldn't help me!Not happy with Argos website but product works perfectly on a Mac so don't be put off buying one if you're an Apple person, but it definitely won't work on XP.

I bought a cheaper remote hard drive about 18 months ago and it had a couple of issues before failing to back up my Macbook Pro completely. WD drives are not the cheapest but I no longer think remote storage is something you should try to save money on. Spend a bit more and know its safe and reliable. This is a really impressive product. Its formatted for Windows but formatting for a Mac is simple and takes maybe 2 mins. I've backed up a couple of times now and its fast, quiet and trouble-free.

The drive has worked fine so far.I believe WD drives are more reliable than others but have had one previous WD drive fail so that it can be read but not written to. Drives are vital for file and photo backups to me. I have 100mb of photos so the cloud would be expensive. And I'm not convinced about cloud privacy, security or that they won't lose my files. BT have certainly lost all sorts of files, contact lists and emails of mine on the cloud. So there probably isn't a better Tb drive.

I have a PlayStation 4 with a 500MB hard drive, which is only enough to hold 2 or 3 games and I'm constantly having to delete things to download updates.I thought I'd give this a go as hopefully a simple way to expand my storage capacity. I plugged it in via USB, formatted it and.. It just worked. No issues, no problems, no waiting, no YouTube videos. It just worked and it's exactly what I needed. I'm really glad I didn't fork out for one of the more expensive drives. Delighted.

Functionally, this is about as good as it can be, until technology overtakes it, of course.aesthetically, it has no real charm: yes, it could have been beautifully designed in exotic materials, but then it would be expensive. and it's unbelievably cheap to someone who once paid a hundred and twenty pounds for a megabyte of RAM for his Atari STE in 1991. At around fifty quid for the new drive, that's in the region of 2.4 million times cheaper. Imagine if that applied to Mars bars.

Brought this to give my ps4 some much needed extra space as I tend to buy all games digitally, the ease to set up was incredible it was a case of plug into the USB and the ps4 will format it for you, the hard drive has been designed for use with gaming systems and as such is very small so you can put anywhere with your system and it won't be in the way, have already recommended this to a few friends for their systems and they have also made the purchase and been happy with the results

The instruction leaflet is very limited and there is very little in the way of installation information when attaching the unit to the computer. I was under the impression that there was software included that would assist in creating a backup but, if there, I couldn't find it.However, it is a neat little unit and using a Windows 10 backup facility it performed well. The next test will be how effective it is to restore but that will hopefully be sometime in the future, is at all.

Purchased this to record from Samsung Smart TV as we don't have a TV box with this set. Very large storage and works by plugging into TV USB socket. Can now record, rewind, fast forward and pause live TV. Works perfectly. Worked straight out of the box without any formatting of the Hard Drive. TV just did an automatic test to see if the Hard Drive was compatible and that was it. Just make sure the USB socket on the TV supplies 5V and 1A if needed for this purpose. Very impressed.

I have only used it a few times, but so far so good.Very easy to use, but just one thing to point out. When plugging in it will automatically open and show some logos. One is called autorun and it does not make clear what this is. After calling WD I was eventually told that you only have to run AUTORUN if your pc doesn't recognise the hard drive. So, when first using, try copying something from your pc to the hard drive. If it has done it successfully-fine. If not, run AUTORUN

I bought this primarily to plug into my new TV to record TV from freeview. I had a £10 voucher from buying the TV which made this around £35.00 - an absolute steal. Taking it out of the box revealed a very sleek and smart looking drive. I plugged the drive into my TV and the TV formatted it for first use. I have been using it to record TV for around 2 weeks now and it's perfect for the job, plenty of room for recording HD. Low noise is a bonus too. I would recommend this drive.

This is so easy to use. I purchased this to transfer all my data to a new laptop from my old PC. I worried that it would struggle as my old PC was running on Windows XP and the new laptop is Windows 10 but it didn't bat any eyelid and everything was transferred from one to the other with no hitches. I will continue to use it as an extra back up for photos and important documents; the dimensions make it very portable and there is no worry about running out of storage space..

to format this to accept MacBook Air wasn't easy , We had to search on Google to do it , Plus side it is very compact and light , once up and running it was very quick to add All my CD collection on and thousands of Pictures. consolidating all pc,s and iPods act. all in once place now, its very quick but took a little to set up , Very pleased now though. I would recommend it now as well. Very Good price I thought its about the same size as the New iPhones 10, 11s.

Got for my son’s PS4. He was fed up with having to delete games to make way for new ones. Being a PS4 plus member he had lots of free games every month and couldn’t play them as he didn’t have enough storage. We have been able to download over 10 games and there are no storage issues. Such a great price and once plugged in and formatted (just follow on screen instructions) it was good to go. Definitely recommend no need to pay any more this does the job well.

This is my second WD Elements drive. It is fast enough to plug in and work directly off it with no lag time which is brilliant as I havn't got to bother copying files back and forth. Also it is perfectly silent, if it wasn't for the little blue light I wouldn't know it was working! This new one I have bought to back up and share all the family photos and videos thus makes them easily accesible on any pc or TV with usb port. Solidly built and reliable. 5-stars!

Plugged it in and did a quick test to see that it would write and could be read. Success. Immediately used it to store a system image. Quite surprised to find that I needed to restore from that image after only a couple of days (a trio of applications just wouldn't open. No apparent reason and never had this problem with Windows 7!). Both creating and restoring from the system image were fine and quite quick. Very happy with this bit of kit.
