There needs to be two parts to this review: the hardware and the software that is required to use it.Firstly, the hardware. This is a luxurious, supreme quality product! It is precision built; it looks and feels beautiful. It is huge, though. It has plenty space around the A4 pad, and has grooves that enable the cover to be folded back on itself. When closed, it does have a large footprint and would need a large bag to carry it in.Pairing with the iPad is a breeze and the functionality is simple: write or draw on the paper and press the button when you get to the end of the page, or are finished working on that page and it is uploaded to the iPad. It has a flap for storing used pages. An iPad will fit in, but it is a tight fit. No problem if you don't want to fall out.The quality of what is transferred to the ipad is completely identical to the original. I drew and wrote with the lightest of touch and it appeared on the iPad perfectly; every bit of detail shows up.The software: the Inkscape app is simplistic. Each page you use on the notepad creates a separate digital document, but you can split or combine documents. You can make amendments to the digital document with an eraser and continue to draw or write on the iPad screen. The one thing I found odd, was you could only work in black ink in this app. You can collaborate with others in this app, though, and share, export or download the digital document. The bit I found frustrating, which dropped a star, is you have to install a second app: Bamboo paper to do colour editing, or converting handwriting to text. The big BUT is; you have to transfer to the Bamboo website - but it wouldn't accept the latest Safari or Chrome browser on my iPad, so I couldn't continue to work on the iPad. I actually had to log into Bamboo paper on my laptop to continue further functions. That prevented me from converting my written notes to text and share it at the end of the meeting; I had to wait until I got home to do it all on the laptop. The handwriting to text conversion was completely spot on - not a single mistake and my handwriting is not the best, so I was impressed with that. The only downside is the text conversion is very basic and needs a lot of formatting to make it better. My overall impression: the hardware is worth every penny, but the software needs to be a bit better. Perhaps this will come with time, or other people will not find the software to be a letdown as I have. I would say this is perfect if a lot of your work is drawing and sketching, but if like me, the majority of work is writing essays and note taking, the software is a bit frustrating.

I use this Tablet for online tutoring and I'm really happy with it. I saw someone else using it so I decided to try it and its actually exceeded my expectations at every turn. What appears on screen is amazingly faithful to the actual written page even tiny details and I haven't noticed the detail in the output depreciating at all even through 20, 30 or even more pages which seems incredible! It can use any paper too. The working area is fully A4. You can write pages one at a time on the pad and then transfer to the app or use it standalone without any idevice and the pages are stored on the device. However I use it in the Live Mode which is perfect for me as the output appears on screen in real time so my students can see it as I write and this is how I use it.The pages are automatically saved on the Inkspace app as I work. I don't know if previous reviewers were using an older version of the app but I've found it works really well so far. You can just keep pressing the tablet button and generating new pages which are stored in the library and can be saved into groups later. They can be converted singly or several at a time to desired format later pdf, svg or jpg and airdropping to your laptop immediately. The Inkspace app which is free to sign up to online is intuitive and has some really cool features like editing the pages afterwards or even merging two pages which can be very useful. I wasn't convinced of the whole cloud thing when I decided to buy but I see now it is a good way to do and it doesn't cause any problems and in fact has solved some. You can also log onto your Inkspace account through a normal web browser too rather than the iOS app so you can go through the pages on your laptop.

I bought this for my daughter as she is at uni and I thought this would save her a lot of time in writing her reports. She makes a lot of notes then has to type them up. Reading the product info, this seamed to fit perfectly, so I ordered. The product we delivered the next day. When she used it for the first time she was very impressed, but it did not record everything correctly, there was a problem with the bottom left of the pad, so with a bit of disappointment, I asked for a replacement, thinking some of the negative reviews had been true and I was going to just be disappointed. This duly arrived the next day and I posted the defective one back using the free post option, from my local sorting office. After texting the replacement it all worked as it should. She has now used it for a good week at uni, and cannot praise this gadget enough. It record all her notes, chemistry drawings and graphs, she mainly uses her phone to send the doc's to when out of the house, but saving to the cloud based software she has access to every thing she records, on any of her devices. This gives her a constant back up of all her work and save her a lot of time. All in all she cannot praise this slate enough and would not be without it. With inkspace the cloud software you get 50gb of free space she can also convert all her work to Microsoft Office or Google Docs and drawings to vector or pds and this is accessible to her everywhere.

A really classy product from Wacom. What you get is at its most basic a cloth covered board with a slot to allow an A5 notepad to sit along with a pen. Under the bonnet however, are the electronics to allow all your written text to be transferred to the device of your choice via the appropriate app.Installation was very straightforward. Charge up the slate, install the app on my iPad, connect the two vis bluetooth, follow the on-screen instructions and away you go. Within 10 minutes I was writing on the slate, transferring it to my tablet, converting my scribbles into test and importing it into Evernote,a dream.I haven't tried sketching on the slate because I only need for text transfer and out of curiosity I did try a selection of different ordinary pens with it but none of them worked. I take it that the supplied pen has some internal electronics that allows the slate to see it. Checking on the Amazon website I did find that original Wacom refills for the pen are quite expensive but if you dig deep enough on the Wacom website you will fins a list of compatible refills and I ordered a 12 pack of these at a fraction of the cost. It's also worth noting that any A5 refill writing pad can be used with the slate. This item really fills a need I had and for my requirements I can't praise it highly enough.

I read a few of the negative reviews first and this nearly put me off buying one. I'm glad I did however as it's a great piece of kit. I use it for work and now exclusively take notes on the slate rather than any notebooks: I'm badly organised and with the slate I know where everything is. I pair it with my iPad Pro and it's never yet failed to connect and transfer. Occasionally I end up with notes split between two sheets when there's only one piece of paper: I know why this is and it's my own fault but there's no need to go into it as it's easily remedied using the Slate App.I haven't used the writing to text option that I believe is available via the web as I use my aforementioned iPad andpencil for handwritten formal notes that need transferring to text.I haven't connect it to my iPhone yet although I expect it would be straightforward. Highly recommended. It works with any paper as well: I prefer to use yellow paper for notes and buy in bulk as it's cheaper. I can use the same paper with this. Wacom will sell you one of their pads if you want one but if you're happy to pay that for a paper pad then I assume you already have all the riches the world has to offer.

I've got my new Bamboo slate today, after returning a used one (was sent to me by mistake). Have to say the service of Amazon is fab. A small review about my new toy.Pros: Look cool. Quite comfortable to write on. Fully charging is fast. The pen works fine (I was afraid of accidentally twisting while using, but actually, the pen twisting is not that easy) with good quality. The papers are aligned by dots, so it's quite handy for drawing graphs and schema.Con: The syncing between the app and device took ages, at least 20-30 mins I say. In the beginning, I thought it was broken, but turned out it was just slow. The INK-to-text function didn't work well, so I had to contact WACOM support. There might be an error while I downloaded the app, so had to reinstall the app.Note: Unlike many reviews about WACOM bad customer service, my experience with this company is quite good. I used live chat twice and the customer assistant were greatly supportive and solve my problems.Update: After a while, my Ink-to-text function finally works. Turned out that I just needed to switch on the function “Sync over cellular in Inkspace (General -> Inkspace-> Sync over cellular). Enjoy.

We've had great fun with this already. My 11 year old daughter just loves that you can draw on here, then we email ourselves the file and she can further edit the image on paint. Great fun. I have tried it out with writing to see if it can decipher my handwriting and I have to say I am pretty impressed with it. Sometimes if my writing was a bit scrawly then it took a couple of attempts, asking me to try again, but after a couple tries it pretty much always got what I was writing quite accurately. I will also use this for drawing and editing further on photoshop. I like how the images can be exported as different formats although not sure if I will get a notification sometime asking for a feeafter the trial is over on the inkspace software. It is amazing how sensitive the pad is to pick up every line I draw even through a whole pad of paper, no idea how it does this. Quite amazing really. The only downside I see is that you are limited to drawing with the pen provided and I find the pen a bit on the chunky side to hold. Wish it was a bit slimmer, but otherwise , very happy with it and I am sure it will get a lot of use.

Fantastic product, feels good quality, reliable connection although watch you don't run out of battery in your slate as that just turns it into a very expensive and heavy folder. The app and synchronising works well, particularly love the live mode which has my text appearing on the screen as I write on the pad. Very impressive and everyone who has seen it has been impressed with the quality feel and accuracy of the transfer and text recognition. It has dropped a star as the replacement ink cartridges are bespoke and thus expensive, and sometimes synchronising takes a few attempts, although I've never actually lost anything. It's technology for the technophobes, for people who don't want to draw on computers but sometimes need to transmit drawings, and for people who don't want to type up notes but sometimes need an electronic record.

I absolutely love this product. It saves me hours every day. A good investment for me I think. I'm in and out of meetings with teachers and parents all day so can't really type straight on to a laptop as this would seem quite impersonal... but still, quite detailed and lengthy reports/minutes are required for each meeting... this just removes the need to type what has already been written and reduces my screen time aswell. One tweak to make would be to allow the app/software to allow placing the text in to forms designed/uploaded by the user rather than having to email it to myself and then do this in another programme... tiny gripe really.Impressed with the slate over all!

I love my slate. I use it for studying and it does exactly what I need. I prefer to hand-write notes, but hate the piles of paper that I end up storing. This gives me a digital copy that I can keep and I can recycle the paper once I've finished with it.It looks great and works really well. I can make a load of notes and then sync to the app later.I wish the ink refills were a bit bigger, but I haven't used all of the supplied one yet. They are a lot cheaper off the Wacom site if you buy a few packs to offset the postage.

Bought this product for daughter to use whilst studying. It is very inuitive to use and enables notes to be uplaoded and shared. It is helpful for both tactile and visual learners. enables notes to be take/ drawings/diagrams etc. and then saved and edited on whatever device one chooses. It also converts handwriting into text. Brilliant product at an acheivable price.

Using this with a huawei p20 pro. I love how easy it is to organise my notes. The software can be a bit slow to sync. You can then organise them into folders, which is great. It wouldn't be great for drawing, pressure sensitivity isn't amazing. I can't draw so no harm.

Works really well.I'll admit I wasn't sure if this was going to do the trick, but I've created quite a few illustrations with it and they have come out well.Really handy for tracing over and adding to photographs, and sketching out ideas to share with other.

Really great gadget. It’s very easy to use and looks very smart when I take it to meetings. The Inkspace app is really good and it’s easy to export notes as images or text by email. I bought a simple lined notebook to help with note taking and it fits in nicely.

Easy to set up and use. Would be nice to carry on drawing on the document after sending it to the tablet but it is a fantastic device for keeping notes and sketches
