The WACCTL-6100WLK-N Intuos 'Medium' tablet is very good in use, and at about A5 drawing area is quite a convenient size, big enough for reasonable resolution and small enough to not crowd out the desk. The main problem for most people will be the difference in size between hand movement on the 10" tablet and image movement on the screen (I'm using 24" screens). Zooming variation possible with different types of software helps to add confusion. Hovering might take a while for some to master, but it is a boon once one is accustomed to using it. The range of pen pressure sensitivity is excellent, and the three spare nibs hidden inside it should see me out.Installation was not quite so simple as it had been years ago with my older smaller Wacom tablet. With this new one there is a lot more to it in the way of settings and mapping options. After about an hour of messing about on the Wacom website reading the manuals, and then playing with drivers and firmware updates etc I finally had some results from it. The information supplied in the box is minimal and useless, apart from giving the web address for Wacom. Fortunately, the online support at the website is good, once you understand their way of thinking. W7P had offered the standard M$ driver dating from 2006, but the tablet ignored this, and the driver for my previous Wacom tablet was also ignored, despite on plugging-in the new one the system reporting drivers installed. Downloading 52MBytes of driver was not a problem, but it then took quarter of an hour to install itself in the fast W7P computer and requested a reboot. Then I needed to find the ‘Wacom Desktop Center’ in the PC and update the firmware of the tablet, and being careful and checking the documentation etc this took a similar time.I'm definitely not a fan of the bundled-download Corel software, and will continue to use an early version of Adobe Illustrator which (once learned) is more powerful and quicker to use than Corel, and yet is not lumbered with all the dross in the later versions of AI (or Corel). As a general rule I carefully avoid registering accounts with any software companies (necessary here), having been bitten in the past and consequently needing to change email addresses. If you plan to use the Corel software then registration is required and this needs the serial number of the tablet (small dark grey writing hidden on the black underside), however if you still have the packaging it is also clearly shown on a side of the pull-out tray and visible through a cut-out in the corresponding side of the box.The tablet can be used instead of, and as well as the mouse for most functions and all the normal software on the computer, provided one is careful with choosing appropriate mapping for the screen area(s). It works well with multiple screens, just like the mouse, but a particular screen can be mapped as the work space for the drawing tablet while allowing the mouse to still roam free. The tablet has the advantage of allowing the pen to hover or tap and customisable buttons, four on the surface and two on the pen, and in many ways it is more intuitive, but it will never quite replace a modern three button scrolling mouse. The LED is orange while the battery charges, and this took the best part of a couple of hours, but once full it is blue-white-ish, and it can also be solid blue for the wireless Bluetooth operations. The Bluetooth works fine within a ten foot range (this room), but I've turned it off in my PC while I have the USB available, although I can see it being very convenient with a phone or tablet etc. The battery power button is also used in setting up the Bluetooth. Battery life is good for a day if recharged overnight, much like a modern Smart phone.Serious professional and commercial artists will probably go for the bigger A4 or A3 sizes of drawing tablet, but this medium A5-like one is good enough for general use.Be aware that all the reviews for the different styles of tablet are jumbled together on this Az page, so check that you are actually reading about the specific model you are considering.

I'm a training instructor and as well as running courses in classrooms in our centres and at client locations, I sometimes need to deliver classes over the internet using conferencing software and hardware. One issue with this is how on earth do you use a whiteboard? I decided to buy one of these tablets to see if it was any use.The first thing you notice is that it is smaller than you think. The box contains the tablet, which has rubber studs on the back and four mappable buttons along the top, the stylus, and a USB cable. Software is downloadable from the Wacom website. It's a cinch to set up - you can pretty much just plug it in and use it straight away, but the software allows you to remap the buttons on the tablet for your own chosen functionality, configure the screen size (important if you are using multiple monitors and have your desktop extended across them all, as the tablet assumes that the complete width of all your monitors is a single screen, unless you tell it otherwise in the app) and so on. The stylus doesn't use batteries and has some spare tips inside - just unscrew the barrel and they're stowed inside. It takes a bit of getting used to. As soon as you hold the stylus over the tablet it works as a mouse, and if you tap on the tablet surface it registers as a click, so if you really take to it I suppose you could even ditch your mouse. Of course, the tablet works with graphics software such as Photoshop and Gimp, but it also works with the likes of Microsoft Paint, Paint.Net and Windows Ink within Windows 10. For my purposes (sketches during courses) I found that Microsoft Paint or Windows Ink were absolutely fine. Sure, these "lesser" packages don't support pressure sensitivity whereas the likes of Photoshop do, but for me they were perfect. The hardest thing to remember is that as you draw on the tablet, nothing appears on it, just on the screen, but after a little while I found that it became second nature. Weirdly I did find that if I tried drawing in Paint.Net with the tablet some things didn't work so well, such as if I wrote with the stylus, or tried to draw freehand circles, but it was fine in other programs. If you're a trainer like me and you want something that will let you doodle on the screen, present courses remotely with a virtual whiteboard, or if you fancy dabbling with photo editing, this tablet is small, light, portable, and doesn't break the bank. Of course, bigger and snazzier ones are available, but this one was a brilliant buy for me.

I'm a beginner, and I chose the medium size, which I'm more than happy with. It's very slim and lightweight, but feels well-built for the price. On the Wacom UK website, the price for this is £179.99, but on Amazon, I paid £109.99 (new) which is a steal. It connects via BT to my Dell XPS (Win 10), and charges fairly quickly. I can also use it via USB although I wish the USB lead was a bit longer as I prefer to use the port on the other side of my laptop (the far side, because my laptop is hooked up to an external monitor, which it's sitting to the side of... anyways), but I use BT instead. The colour is pretty cool. Would be nice if they came out with other colours, but that's not the most important thing here to consider. The pen feels nice in my hand and it comes with 4 standard nibs (one's already installed and the other 3 nibs are inside the pen, revealed by unscrewing the top of the pen. The nib tool is built into the top of the pen too. It has a nice weight, and feels natural to hold. The two buttons don't get in my way but is easy to reach with my thumb because I place my thumb just below the bottom button, normally. Drawing on the tablet feels natural. Looking up at the screen whilst drawing takes a little practice but feels quite natural.Online registration was fairly straightforward, and I was able to claim all 3 software that's on offer. I haven't installed them because Illustrator and Photoshop serves my needs.Wacom's software + driver were very easy to install and setup. You can customise your tablet and pen settings for both general use and per-app use, which is very handy. The only thing I would ask for from Wacom at this point would be to release a Paper version (like Intuos Pro Paper but without the hefty price tag) in Medium size. It kinda frustrates me I can't lay a piece of copy paper over the tablet and trace over it with the pen, even though there are other ways around that.

The actual tablet is well designed and built. It has a smooth working surface with pale dots to give you a sense of scale, although you largely are looking at the screen and judging the position of your nib by eye. There are four buttons that I keep having to remind myself what they do, and they form a nice dip that your stylus can rest in. There are four rubber feet that keep the tablet in place on your desk. The cable is long enough to run from your computer to the place where you will use it and it has a standard USB connection on both ends which is good if you lose it or need a different length replacement. The stylus is nice to hold, just like a pen,and contains three replacement nibs that are easy to fit.In use in a graphics program it is fairly controllable and allows you to exercise your artistic talents. Whether you'll ever recreate the roof of the Sistine Chapel I can't say though. It just doesn't seem like a precise enough medium to me, but then I'm not a great drawer.Where I find this product a bit less satisfactory is that I'm running a two screen setup and you can use it as a mouse outside of your graphics program. I just don't think it's a very good mouse for normal PC use. Maybe I'm too set in my ways but I can rarely position my cursor accurately or use it with the same efficiency and accuracy as I achieve with a normal mouse. So I end up with both devices plugged in at the same time. The other area that could be improved is that although Windows 10 has a fairly well developed ink workspace built in, the Wacom software is a little bit outdated and unimpressive. Not harmful, just could be better. This is a bargain price product and perfectly adequate for getting a feel for tablet control over your PC, but I suspect you'll soon be wanting to upgrade to something a bit bigger, and maybe in a touchscreen format if you're after professional results.

Wacom WACCTL-6100WLK-N Intuos Medium Pen Tablet with Bluetooth – BlackIn the box.The tablet, pen device, drivers and instructions.Set up.It works using Bluetooth or USB. I connected it to my laptop using Bluetooth, this was a painless process just like pairing a phone. The tablet has an internal battery that needs charging up via a USB source. Once charged the tablet is ready to go and the power lasts a long time. You can register the tablet with Wacom – you need to read the minute serial number off the back of the tablet to register. When registered you have access to software, help and updates. This process was a bit fiddly but once done its done !What it does.It gives you a small work area that is pressure sensitive. It can be used to navigate software and produce drawings and used for photo editing. In use.As a complete graphic novice, I found it very hard to use a first. I watched my daughter use it and she showed me what I was doing wrong and soon picked up the basics with a little help. I found it useful making signatures for documents and basic photo editing. I have a long way to go to do what my daughter can do with it but now I have used it for a while I can navigate round much faster and do simple photo edits. My daughter can produce very nice art works with it which shows me that the limitation here is me and not the tablet !Overall.A neat item for graphic work if you have the skills. Fun to use and it does speed up photo editing and selection. I am trying hard with it but still need a lot of practice to get up to speed. However, I have been shown its potential and will keep on with it.

This is a game changer when it comes to editing images, and I guess (since I don't really use for that) drawing. It is insanely precise, it works perfectly fine with both Lightroom and Photoshop. If you own a recent laptop that has ditched all USB-A ports (such as the new MacBook Pros or DELL XPS 13) the bluetooth version is a must, but I don't mean this in a bad way; bluetooth connectivity is superb and also being tethered is so 20th century, there is no latency and the battery last for various sessions of editing. You can charge the battery with any standard micro usb (the same one that you already use to charge other devices) so no issues there. Included with the tablet is a micro usb to USB-A cable,so if you need a USB-C you will need to pick it up separately (or if you don't already own one a dongle) but it really isn't a big deal since you probably won't need it (I have only connected the tablet to laptop once, when I was setting it up).Make sure you download the drivers that come with the tablet so that you can personalise the buttons and functions to your liking. I for instance only use a portion of the pad since I feel 7 inches is a bit too much, but then again it is all personal preference. That tablet also comes with some free software but I personally can't comment on it since I have not use them.TIP: if you are into drawing of want to get into it, Sketchbook Pro is free and totally compatible with WACOM tablets

I wasn't really quite sure what I was getting with this, having never used this kind of thing before, but I was quite impressed with it.It's easy enough to set up with the supplied cables. It says it has bluetooth capabilities too but my PC doesn't so I don't really know how successful that is. It took a little bit of trial and error to get going with the registration etc but nothing that would put you off doing so. (It appears it can be used without registration but in order to benefit from the choice of free programmes that come with it you do need to register the device). The tablet is easy to use and very receptive. I'm no artist but found it fun and easy to use, with good results achievable. With my limited "talent" it would seem that this tablet is ideal for beginners or casual users more than those more advanced, who I would suspect would want something with more bells and whistles on it. But then again, you'd be paying a lot more than you would for this to get them! All in all a great drawing tool that's easy to use and is great value.

I love using small tablets like this instead of using a mouse. I’d highly recommend every heavy computer user to buy one. This Wacom is as good as any other I’ve had. It’s as sensitive as you need it to be, fully adjustable and super responsive. The drivers are great once setup, but they have their issues. I disconnect the tablet sometimes to take with my laptop. When I reconnect I loose mouse mode and have to either reboot or re select it in preferences. Sometimes it randomly looses mouse mode and sometimes touch mode gets stuck on for no reason. All driver issues and not hardware related. Sort it wacom. Other than that, it’s perfect as mouse replacement or for drawing.I had rsi from using a computer too much for my job,the movement of a mouse constantly over a day took its toll. Using a pen like this solved all my issues. After 10 years using a pen instead of a mouse I can confirm it helped me massively. It’ll take time to get used to the change but persevere with it.

This is a perfect tablet if you are just starting out with them! I used to have a Wacom Bamboo but unfortunately they have been discontinued I believe. I upgraded to an Intuos Pro Large but found that it was cumbersome to set up and use with my small desk, so I figured I would buy a smaller tablet.I wasn’t disappointed! The tablet is a perfect size for someone with limited desk space, and anyone who also uses their keyboard for shortcuts etc, and their mouse all at the same time. The desktop range seems to be good and installing the drivers was a piece of cake! If you don’t enjoy having wires attached to your computer accessories there is a Bluetooth version.Note: Some windows 7 users (like myself)may experience permissions errors if the tablet isn’t connected and the drivers try to run, this isn’t an issue with the tablet at all but a general windows 7 error which can be easily fixed with a simple google search of said error.

As a photographer, I've been slow to adopt a graphics tablet as I didn't really see the need for one. However, Amazon gave me one to review and only now do I realise what I've been missing out on.I restore old photographs using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, many of the photos are in terrible condition and it can take me hours, sometimes the whole day, to restore a single photo using my mouse. Using this tablet speeds up the job massively, and it's frightening to think how much time I could have saved using this instead of a mouse. It does take some practice to fully get accustomed to the way this works, but once you do, you won't touch your mouse again. The tablet uses Bluetooth which works flawlessly - battery life is OK.It's smaller than I expected and I initially thought it would be too small, but actually, it's fine. The compact and lightweight design means I can easily slip this into my Laptop bag.Highly recommended!

It's great for beginners like me who usually draws on paper or paints on canvas. The software that comes with it is handy. It's just a handy tool to have when you feel like doodling on your laptop or computer and even great for design work. It defeats having to use the mouse on software such as Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. The size is also easy to store and bring with you to places. The drawing surface is large enough. I would recommend getting the size that resembles your screen. It comes with spare nibs which seems to last long.Bluetooth works well and you don't need to worry about the range since you need it near your computer or laptop for obvious reason. You can still use it plugged in.Finally,I've seen some complaints that the pen scratches the surface. It's meant to do that as it leaves white chalky residue which wipes off but it's not permanent and very trivial.

I needed a new tablet to help at Uni and freelance work and these are the tablets they have us use in lessons. But I figured I'd get my own so I can draw on the go and at home. No need to worry about batteries or cables coming loose - I really like having a portable cable as my previous tablet had the usb cable attached which meant over time it was bending a breaking. Having a pen stylus that needs no batteries is a weight off my shoulders so I don't have to preserve my drawing time to save battery life. I can't fault this tablet. Only thing I would say is that when installing the software and tying to get the free drawing program it wouldn't let me gain access so I did have to call up customerservices to get that resolved (in the end I haven't used the Corel paint program much as I do find it difficult to draw with, as I'm used to Photoshop)

The professional industrial designers in my workplace use the full size Wacom tablets so I was curious to see what kind of result my daughter and I would get out of a more consumer end and somewhat small looking tablet. It turns out that we were both delighted with it. There is some learning to be done to manage your desktop with the pen controls but it’s fairly intuitive and soon feels like a very natural easy way to interract with your machine. We managed to set it up in moments to work on a Windows laptop, and iMac and a GNU Linux (elementary OS) laptop too. What you can do with this depends on your skills and creativity as well as the software you work with but for a taste of what the pros use, this is highly recommended and relatively affordable. It also pack easily with my laptop meaning it’s a good travel option for a professional too.

This is the big brother of the original Wacom digital board. Firstly this is Bluetooth. So no messy wires or dragging your laptop to where you are or being confined to your desk. Here you can sit back on a coach or somewhere else a little more conducive to your creative side. This is also a lot bigger than the 6 inch smaller pad. This is a 10 inch pad so you can get those bigger sweeping sketches in there without having to constrain your hand movement to much and that's all very helpful to the drawing experience or at least that's how it work for me. The software is simple to use and the tablet gives no problems providing your laptop is up to the task. My one reservation is the price. It's more than double it's little brother ... so does that warrant the Blue tooth and bigger pad? Can't say for sure. If budget is tight then probably not.

It's lightweight but still feels like it is good quality. The pen is overall a good size, though it took getting used to because I accidently kept clicking the buttons whilst drawing. The buttons on the pen and the tablet can be configured for each app.I struggled to get the tablet registered in order to get my free software like many other reviewers have ( decent software too, the tablet alone is worth the price so the software is a great bonus), however a 3 minute friendly online chat with Wacom sorted everything out painlessly. The small size is ok. I would have preferred something bigger however the price jumps quite drastically for the medium tablet so I guess beggars can't be choosers.Ultimately,I'm very happy with my purchase. It's great for drawing and editing photos etc and has increased my work rate by a large margin.
