I've used Wacom tablets, both professional and consumer for years, and have seen the difference between the two become smaller and smaller. Wacom themselves are surely aware of this, and even use the "Intuos" name for both lines now. Differences then between the two, in terms of how the pen itself moves your cursor, and how the pressure sensitivity feels, are for all intents and purposes gone.Differences between the supplied software are gone too, now both consumer and pro tablets will allow you to configure the shortcut keys however you like, including different profiles in different applications. That said, Wacom are still only putting a measly two shortcut buttons on the consumer tablets, which is a few too few for my liking. If you go between the likes of Zbrush, Maya, and Photoshop, you will find yourself on your regular keyboard more than you're using the shortcut keys. This particular tablet is one of Wacom's medium sized offerings, which I personally find a little too large for single screen use (I have a 27" display). If you prefer a slower cursor then you may disagree, but I personally find these larger pads are better suited for dual monitor setups. If you have three displays, then it's too small, go for the largest size. That said, the medium size does mean you can afford to trim the usable area a little in the Wacom settings tool, and so give yourself a little palm rest, which is another thing the pro tablets have and the consumer tablets lack. The other slight niggle I have with Wacom's current consumer tablets is that the pen feels rather cheap. It's thinner than the pro pens and lacks the rubbery outer coating. If you plan on using this for many hours continually, your fingers will let you know how that a hard plastic shell isn't the best idea. From the limited testing I've done it seems that Wacom pens only work with their matching tablets, so you may not be able to solve this issue by buying a pro pen separately. You get a few spare nibs (hidden under a flimsy and difficult to remove plastic panel under the tablet), but the usual Wacom inkpot style pen holder is gone. Time will tell how long the nibs last - I've had bad experiences with the Bamboo nibs, which I went through absurdly quickly, but so far at least they look to be lasting okay.A good tablet them, as are all Wacoms to be frank, but I hope the continued merging of the pro and consumer lines will result in a few new shortcut buttons, and a softer fee pen casing.

reviews‏reviewsArielle Redman26/09/2015To: Stephen RedmanA pleasure to draw with, as the tablet is lightweight and has a really nicesurface – the pen glides along the pad smoothly, but with enough resistance thatit’s easy to feel where it is on the tablet while keeping your eyes on thescreen. The tablet looks good, and the black surface makes it harder to see thestroke marks from excessive use. The dots across the pad are useful forreference points – this could be very handy for those new to graphics tablets.Being able to use the tablet for touch commands (no pen) is very useful, too. When the pen tip is near the pad, it doesn’t respond to your touch (so you canstill lean on the pad while drawing). This is very handy, so you can really relyon your pad for all mouse movement. The hotkey buttons are in a really greatlocation; because they are slanted, your non-drawing hand naturally leanstowards them which means that you don’t need your keyboard quite so much. Intotal, you have 6 buttons for shortcuts: two on your pen, two ideally locatedfor your non-drawing hand and two on the other end of the tablet, which arequite hard to reach due to the size of the tablet, but still quite handy if youdon’t want to use your keyboard at all.The pen is lightweight, which makes a big difference. It’s quite slender, wheremany graphics tablets have quite chunky pens which can be more difficult to use(though I suppose it’s all about preference).Setting up the tablet is easy, and you can adjust all the shortcuts quickly andefficiently, and you can set up different shortcuts for different programmes, soPhotoshop can have different shortcuts to InDesign. The size of the tablet means that it feels much more natural to use as it’s abit closer to the size of your screen. It also allows you to make longer, flowing strokes with greater detail. It’s still quite easy to transport, though, because it is so light.Very compatible with Photoshop, though if you’re using a tablet for the firsttime, I suggest watching some of Wacom’s introductory YouTube videos becausethey really help you to understand how to set it up and then how to get the mostout of it for specific programmes (e.g. Photoshop).

This is my very first tablet and pen, so I don't have anything to measure it against. I am delighted with it, though. I use it on a MacBook Pro; it connected and started working straight away. It didn't take long to get the hang of using it as a mouse. Just a few hours and my hand/eye coordination had tuned in. I use it permanently as a mouse now. The buttons on the pen and tablet are easy to customise through the system preferences and they are programme specific programmable functions, which is great.A note about registering and downloading the bundled software: it is essential you register on the Europ/GB page and not the North America page or you won't be able to download the software and will encounter problems that other reviewers have mentioned. In the documentation, the 'Getting Started' address is North American. Visit this page to access the European division: [...]I chose the Art version and the bundled Corel Painter Essentials software is brilliant. It is feature-rich for a cut-down version of the full package. It didn't take long to start drawing and painting and once I got the hang of using the pen, it has been a fun experience doing digital painting. The only thing I am slightly disappointed with is the nib is scratching the surface of the tablet; I didn't expect that. The tablet is pressure sensitive and I am applying varied pressure during the painting process, but still, for a two-week old tablet, I would like it to look like it is still brand new. It is necessary to tilt the tablet into the light to see the scratching, so maybe that is just me being too picky!I am no artist, I am just a wannabe beginner, but I was stunned with the quality of the painting I was able to produce with the tablet and software. I have attached a photo; this painting took about 10 hours to produce over a few days!Overall, I love the tablet and the software, but have dropped a star because of the scratchiness of the nib on the surface of the tablet, but don't let that put you off an excellent package.

i used to own intuos pro tablets for several years and i wasn't sure about this one, but overall this little thing performed better than i expected. tablet is slightly elevated on the back, which is very welcome. the surface feels right. express keys work almost the same, if not more reachable than the pro version. i am not an illustrator, or a digital paint artist, so i'm quite happy with 1024 pressure levels.the lower and far right edges of the tablet are a bit uncomfortable, as your palm has to rest on your table. in pro version, this was compensated by the soft plastic around the edges. i tackled this by making the active area smaller, but i still miss the armrest of my pro tablet.on the positive side, it makes this tablet significantly smaller.the biggest downside is the pen. it's too thin and unlike the pro version, doesn't have a rubber grip. it almost dissapears under my fingers, even though my hands are smaller than average... also the positioning of the keys don't feel quite right. you can buy an extra pen, but then the total cost is more than a small pro tablet. that's a big buzzkill for me.just like the pro version, this one also is not a replacement for your trackpad. the finger input response is quite coarse, and it will behave oddly if you are holding the pen while using it as a trackpad. wacom was never good at this...i didn't have any problems with the software whatsoever. wacom driver worked great for me on my macbook pro2012 + el capitan + adobe cc2017 combination. lots of options and flexibility for customization and i'm very happy with it.overall i would give this tablet a tad lower than 4 stars, biggest cause being the flimsy pen. other than that, it's a very handy little thing that can fit in most backpacks and small spaces. the response time, accuracy and pressure levels are not noticably different than the wacom pro, and i would say this one can be even more practical in certain ways.

I do have some experience of using Wacom Tablets, I have used the small Wacom Bamboo in the past, but was a little frustrated by the size. This Medium Intuos Art is a much better size, and maps well to the dimension of my iMac screen.Install for me was slightly complicated due to having a previous tablet installed, but once I had removed that, Install went without a hitch. In the first instance you download the latest version of the tablet software ... you can then register and download your 'Art' software. The bundled software with this package is Corel Painter Essentials 5 ... but the tablet will work with most packages. There are 4 buttons on the tablet that can be set for a range of functions, and System Preferences on you Mac will also let you set up other parameters such as Screen Mapping, Touch Options, Gestures, and Radial Menu.Touch and feel of the pen with the Tablet are really very good. You can often get a very skittish response with hard nib on shiny surface, but this actually feels like pen on paper.Mapping is accurate, and unless you are happy to be tied to your USB lead ... the wireless accessory is very good, and is worth the £30 askign price. Some spare nibs are housed under the flap under the top of the tablet, and this is also where you would install the wireless module and battery. The tablet is roughly the size of an A4 sheet, and although slim and fairly light, looks to be tough enough to last.Happy to recommend to someone starting out who can't justify splashing out on a Pro Tablet.

Wacom has always been the brand of choice when it comes to graphics tablets, right back to the original Intuos I bought some 15 years ago. I'm pleased to say that Wacom still seems to be the brand of choice - this is a remarkably good tablet.Probably the biggest single improvement over the tablets of old is the ability to use this with both a stylus and a finger (much like an iPad). Granted, the finger isn't as accurate, but it does mean you can use this as an alternative to a mouse - especially if you're comfortable working with the touchpad on a laptop - this feels very similar.Responsiveness seems good, and the Wacom software is fairly intuitive, and doesn't seem overly demanding on system resources.I'm pleased to report there's now support for multi-monitor setups: you can choose whether movement on the tablet tracks across all your monitors as one giant workspace, or applies to monitors individually, or is locked to one specific monitor - useful if you're using a centre display for photo work, and surrounding displays for other day-to-day stuff. If I were to criticise, it's that this 'medium' version is more than twice the price of the 'small' version, and, to be honest, not as useful. The 'medium' version just takes too much space - unless you have a huge workspace, there's no way of having this on the desk at the same time as a keyboard and mouse. By contrast, the 'small' version can sit on one's right or left without obstructing the keyboard at all.

Easy to set up and Easy to use , came with Free artwork software as well , , my art loving daughters love it as well and will sit happily for hours drawing and making beautiful art work pieces .Initial set up was ok and easy to do and once set up you have to register with WACOM to receive the free artwork package , you can easily use this drawing tablet using the computers paint program and you can also use it with the photo elements software as well so if you need to use it for photo editing etc , build quality is good and should last , spare tips for the WACOM drawing pen are in the back of the tablet and stored away neatly and they are easy accessible if needed in the future ,it can also work like a mouse pad just like on a laptop which is good and makes using the pc or laptop easier but i must say it took me some getting used to after always using the computers mouse but this drawing tablet is mainly used for artwork and it does a pretty good job of that , the pen has mouse controls on ( right click / left click ) and it doesn't need to be handled heavily on the surface of the drawing tablet just a slight touch will do , its just like pencil or paintbrush to paper but instead you see your artwork appear on the computer screen instantly which can be erased , edited very easily .highly recommended if you are a artist or if you have a family member who is also into art , like i do .. my daughter .

I am a graphic designer, but I don't do too much illustration work so I wanted a middle of the road Wacom tablet for general day to day use for a reasonable price. I also didn't want it to take up too much space on my desk (I bought the medium size). I am really pleased with this, I think it does the job well and was simple to set up. I downloaded the drivers for my iMac (make sure you use the UK site to download them) and it worked straight away. As per some of the other reviewers, the only thing I was disappointed with was the pen – it is feels very cheap and low quality, it feels like a hollow piece of thin, light plastic. I borrowed a more expensive spare Wacom stylus from my boyfriend but it wouldn't work with the tablet,so I ended up removing the rubber sleeve from that pen and pushing it on to the one that came with this one, to give some weight and grip to the pen. I always thought that Wacom pens were interchangeable – so either they are but his pen is broken in some way, or you have to use the pen that comes with the tablet only. Which makes me wonder what happens if you lose or break the pen? Anyway, problem solved for me by stealing the rubber sleeve from his spare pen in the short term, but I would like to replace it at some stage, just not sure what with if the pens aren't interchangeable. In general, I would recommend this tablet as a good middle of the road product.

Replacing an old bamboo tablet that I've had for 5+ years. So far very pleased with the new one, however if you are switching from a bamboo like me there are a few points i feel i should mention:-the new pen is much thinner and less weighted.-the contact of the pen and tablet surface feels more resistant and rubbery where my old surface was smoother, this may simply be due to surface wear and tear of my old one, i can't recall how it felt in the beginning.-the default sensitivity is completely different, i.e I was pressing much harder than i used to for the same effect. There are plenty of settings in the wacom software to help with this, though.-this tablet (medium) takes up a little more desk room.the active part of the intuos is the same size as my CTL-470, then you have the section for buttons on top.-if you are used to dragging your hands all over your tablet like me, the touch side of this intuos makes things a little clumsy. for example, accidentally rotating my canvas, zooming in and out, panning, scrolling, etc.these are all things I put down as *differences* rather than faults, i'm looking forward to working more with this thing and reducing some of the clumsiness i mentioned. After so many years of constant use of my old tablet I trust wacom sincerely for both quality and durability.

After trying one of those cheap ones (the kind advertised as a game-play tablet) and being less than impressed, I decided to get this one. The touch feature is definitely worth the price jump if you're used to a MacBook trackpad. Not all the gestures are there, but the most important ones are, like pan and zoom.I don't know how hard people are pressing with their pens, but my nib is still fine after weeks of use. This has made Photoshop much more versatile to me, in that now I can use it for something besides photo editing. The Corel software that comes with it is awful though. It's very slow. I much prefer Photoshop. I also use Illustrator, but for drawing I prefer PS because it's more like drawing on paper and doesn't auto-smooth the lines as much as Ai.The size is perfectly fine for me, but I am used to a MacBook trackpad, and this is like a big version of that in some ways. It's nice and lightweight, and quite slim too.At some point I will probably get the wireless accessory kit because I'm not keen on the USB cable snaking along my lap when I'm on the sofa. These are some of the drawings I've done with it so far. (The middle one is a Pokémon I invented, called Sockit, who uses static electricity to collect one of every pair of socks you own, so you only have odd ones).

Just unboxed it and installed the software, and have been playing with it for a couple hours.Software install took 20 minutes to download everything, tops.Initial software download was absolutely painless, but the extra bundle was a bit more of a pain, since you have to get the security code that is buried under the back cover. To access the back cover, you have to slide as instructed on both the website and the sticker that comes on it. Again, it's very much explained what you have to do, I just couldn't do it initially. Since, however, it has prove fine. The only issue with the back cover is closing it, as the "Wacom" tag at the top of the tablet occasionally gets stuck in it while you're trying to slide the back cover shut. This is nothing but teething issues, without a doubt. This tablet is extremely light feeling, as opposed to conventional, thicker-set tablets (I grew up using a bulky silvercrest, forgive me), but it doesn't necessarily feel "cheap" as many others have put it. The texture of the tablet itself is good, and all the hardware thus far has proven responsive (as expected).I've given it a 4 star only because I've not had it longer than a couple hours.

Great tablet, works really well and is of a very good quality. Was a bit cautious having seen all the negative reviews with regards to downloading the included software from the UK, so I did some research and I found a method of registering that seemed to work:1) Don't use the website recommended in the box [...] Go to[...], wait for the page to load, and use the link below the sign-in box to set up an account on the EU store.2) Once registered, sign in and go to My Account and click on the link to 'Register Product', using the Software Bundle Download code and Serial number on the box/tablet. By following this through, you should be able to download the included software (Painter Essentials 5).3)After that, I headed back to the main website described in the instructions [...] to download the drivers.Might be the case that if the Software Bundle Download code has already been entered on the US/another site that it's now marked as being used if you try the above method on the UK site, in which case you'd have to contact Wacom, but I followed the instructions above and had no problem downloading the bundled software.

I work with Adobe Firework's almost every day, I have been using a track ball but it is now 15years old and starting to stick, so it was time to use a tablet and pen. Installation is very easy for Mac and PC. The tablet is highly sensitive and it has taken me a good about of time tuning the settings for my liking. I found even not touching the tablet the pen moves the pointer which was really frustration. The pen has to buttons which I set for click and right click but I found that the pen twist in my hand and the buttons where almost impossible to click. The pen is very smooth and offers no grip at all. So after some research to find the right grip from Wacom I have sorted this problem.I still miss my track ball and for me it is a learning process to get used to the tablet and pen. You can also use the tablet as a track pad with you fingers, which I like. There is also 4 buttons at the top of the tablet which are easy to set to do what you want. Over all I really do like the tablet its just a shame that the pen is so slippy.

The tablet is about A4 size, as it comes it is powered by USB wire and connects to your laptop or computer via that. It's a very accurate drawing tablet with a good stylus with sharp nib. The drivers for the tablet come on the disc and new drivers are downloaded from the Internet. It works on PC and have used it on a Mac. There's also spare nibs in a compartment underneath the tablet. In here you can also fit a Bluetooth unit as well as a special rechargeable battery, making it totally wireless. Our daughter is the artist in the family and has had a good go with this, the results are very good and she likes using sing, although her normal choice is paint/pastals.The unit comes with a software download for art software or you can use it in other popula suites like we did. (Photoshop) I've also been using it as a trackpad type of device when I'm using the computer, which makes it quite good for doing small sketches in Word and I've used in in Omnidraw.
