TL;DR: the 11cm diameter posts have wider screws than the 9cm diameter posts. The screws are approximately 9mm wide on the 11cm posts and 6mm wide on the 9cm posts.------------------------------------------------------------ Sizing of post fittings -I originally bought a 11cm 70cm tall post, to rejuvenate an old scratching post cheaply. Later on, I needed to replace a post in my cat tree. I took the post from the scratching post to test it was the right screw fitting for the cat tree. It fitted so I went ahead an ordered a new post.I ordered a 30cm tall, 9cm diameter post for the cat tree. As all the other posts were 9cm wide. When it arrived it did not fit.I wondered if the different width posts had different screw fittings, since the previous one was wider. So I ordered another 30cm tall post, but this time 11cm wide. When it arrived, this one fit!It seems the narrower posts have screw fittings that are about 5 - 6mm wide, and the fatter 11cm posts have ones which are 8 - 9mm wide. I have tried to measure them which is slightly tricky and attached photos below. So when you are ordering, you need to order based on the size of screw you need. Not the width of the post. It may not be as aesthetically pleasing, but at least the post will fit into your tree. Each post comes with two bolts with torx heads and one double ended screw. The smaller post also comes with two washers, the larger poles do not.- Quality of posts -The are cardboard tubes covered in sisal, with plastic end caps and metal screw threads in the middle of those end caps. I have noticed that the wider posts use thinner sisal and the narrow posts use much thicker sisal. The sisal is attached with staples at each end. They have all be smooth so far, with no sharp of sticky out staples. The posts could do with more rope. The large post that I first bought, after a fortnight of being used a gap appeared in the rope coils. 6 months on, the gap is now over an inch wide. It isn't as frayed as the old post, but the old post took years to show a gap that big. I have attached photos of how it is today.I would say they are okay for what I paid, but I am now bowled over with them. They do the job they are supposed to do for a reasonable price.

I like the idea of replacing just the post, to be as low-waste as possible. Also I wanted a larger, wider post, which this is.I discovered that the screw on system of my previous post was different - the screw is attached to the bottom of the post and screws into a metal fitting in the base. The metal fitting was too small to get the Trixie post screw through, but I purchased some larger allen keys and was able to remove it completely, leaving a hole big enough, and from there it was simple to screw the new post on. The cats started using it straight away. The only thing I don't like about the Trixie post (hence four stars not five) is that the top looks kind of functional, not nice - it's black plastic and not covered. My previous post had an artificial fur covering and looked finished and nice. None of these posts is so long you won't see the top when you walk past. I'm going to see if I can make a nice looking cover out of a purple furry cushion cover. We will see how the new post stands up to three active young cats - two 3yos and a 5yo. I hope to remember to make an update.

What can I say!The shipping speed for this item is quick I ordered this on Friday and received it on a Sunday! It comes with a set of screws, two sided threaded bolt and metal washers. So it is compatible with most types of scratch post bases.Plus even thought my cat only scratches the top section you can take it off and use the other side to! So the post has two holes one on top and bottom. The only small draw back I would say is that even tho you get the screws and a double sided bolt. You don't actually get a Allen key with it as the screw that come with it require one.I think the packaging could be smaller as it comes in a massive box that could fit 3-4 of these in.

Excellent sturdy post and well worth the money. I bought this to attach a hammock for my cats. Very strong. I didn't realise it came with doubled ended screws (A screw at the bottom - obviously to screw into base and screw at the top) If I'd known that I would not have bought the hammock as this was bought to replace a snapped post (the cats done it) and they have a wee bed which can screw on to it.I thought the hammock would have wrapped around the post and you could fix it this way. It fixes via a screw at top of the post.Anyway everyone's happy as the cats like the hammock better anyway.Fab seller, recommended. Fast delivery. Thank you.

What an excellent idea,. My cat absolutely loves her scratching post, so unfortuanetly this means she needs a new one every 3 / 4 months. When buying from my local pet shop I was having to spend £22.00 each time which as you can guess can work out quite expensive, so naturally I thought I would give the Trixie Post a go and she loves it. She's already had it 2 months and this one doesn't seen to be wearing down quite so much, its also and added bonus that once one end has worn down you can turn it over, so its half the money and it last twice as long. I wish I had come across this post before, would recommend to anyone, Well done Trixie Post

Complete scratching posts in pet shops usually seem very expensive, bearing in mind that the bases and tops don't, usually, wear out much. This is an ideal way of prolonging the life of the station. Is easily fitted and can be turned upside down and refitted when signs of wear start to show. The sisal itself appears tough and takes some "hammering" by our cat!Product arrived quickly with all fittings etc. and certainly seems to be much better value than replacing entire unit.UPDATE4 months of "enthusiastic" use by our cat shows little wear of the sisal whereas previous ones bought from shops would have been in shreds by now! Very Good!

Well made product. We recently bought "Trixie Parla scratching post 62 cm, platinum grey" and this spare part product is soooo purrrr much better. It has thick twine is fatter and far more robust. The downside is you need to make a base and also you have to put a bolt in the hole at the top. Not a hardship as they give you the bolt but not the alun key. We used our old base but very easy to make a base with carpet and wood. (The old Trixie post, (Trixie Parla scratching post 62 cm, platinum grey) was very good so beware. they say they have only altered it slightly. Well everything has changed!)

Bought to replace one of the posts on the activity centre that 4 out of my 5 cats had destroyed, a bit fiddly to fit but this was due to having to dismantle the activity centre rather than due to the post itself. Came with bolts, washers and an allen key. So far it has withstood the daily clawing very well and has lasted longer than the original post did. Will definitely be buying another shortly to replace a second post they have also destroyed, cheaper than a new activity centre every time the cats destroy the posts and is better made than the original posts.

Bought this as a spare post as my cat had completely ruined the one that came with the stand. It was easy to screw in, although I used the original screw that came with my full stand and post. One thing I'm not sure I like is that the top and bottom of the post look the same, plastic with a hole in the middle, because it doesn't look as nice as my original post that had fabric at the top. But when he ruins the top of this one with his scratching I guess I can just turn it upside down and screw the other end in the bottom so we can get more use out of this one.

The existing scratching post needed replacing and there was no point in spending a lot of money replacing the whole item, so I looked for a replacement post that screwed into the existing base - one that was taller and thicker than the one to be replace and I found this. It fitted perfectly - it comes supplied with various bits of fittings and we just needed the basic screw base. Suzi took to it right away - it is just the right height for her and it is nice and thick. A great product - very sturdy and well-made.

As expected, since it seems to be of the same make and quality of the worn scratching post it is to replace. Bonus - it does come with the bolts and it is connection ready to extend the height if so wish - as photo shows. The purchase is just the post, no base supplied.Update: Feb2016 - erm photo #2 shows the roping not tightly packed and have slacken after a month of kitty use. The well-used old scratch post attached to it is still going strong. Perhaps not as good quality as originally thought.

Full marks for the manufacturers for making spare posts for this product as there was no wear and tear on the base. What I love about this is the fact that when it starts to fray you can turn it upside down and use it the other way. Plenty of spare screws and bolts but no allen key, but I think we've all got spare ones of these lying around. The sisal rope is hard wearing and the last one lasted me ages. Will always get my scratching posts (well, not mine, the cats!) from here. Top class.

My cat absolutely love her scratching post, but it can become very expensive buying a new one each time. After doing some searching and reading the other reviews, I decided to give this spare post a try and seeing if I could just replace the scratching bit of her post instead of buying new again. It arrived in great condition and once we removed the old post for the new one, my cat has been in scratching heaven. I will definitely be coming back for another replace post in the future!

There was nothing wrong with the base so I was glad I could buy just a replacement post. Make sure you measure your old base because there are several different sizes. The previous post had a lovely grey fur top to match the grey fur base. This replacement ( I assume they were different sellers) had a not so nice looking black plastic top. My husband took the fur top off the old one (which wasn’t all that easy)! and put it on the new post, so I’m happy and my cat loves it!

This is quite simply one of the best things that I have ever bought on Amazon. Not only is it an excellent price, but it fits the stand I have at home. It is sturdy and well made, and reduces landfill. 10 weeks on from purchase and it is still in one piece, no bits of string all over the floor and the cat can get a really good grip on to it. If you are looking for a cat scratching post replacement, you do not need to look any further.
