First off, just to say that after a little investigation I didn't buy mine from Amazon in the end - so I won't be a Verified Review. We bought this for our grandchildren, knowing that my 18 month old grandson would be the one most likely to use it this Summer. Even though it suggests that if for 3 - 12 year olds he has absolutely no problems with it at all.Reading other review I was a little concerned about material quality and how long it would take to assemble. I need not have worried. Although the pieces are not necessarily as nicely finished as shown in the sales photos they were of a good quality and very well labelled. The reviews seemed to suggest that it could be built in 2 - 4 hours,I was in no rush and took 3.5 hours while watching a movie at the same time. I would strongly recommend that you do not attempt this without a good electric screwdriver as there are a lot of screws! Some reviews have mentioned the wood splitting, I didn't experience any of this myself. Also, some talk of the need to drill...there are some pieces where the instructions tell you to drill pilot holes. Beyond those I did not need to drill anything more. Finally, it came unpainted. Not a surprise as the blackboard pieces are all the same size and part number meaning that you can select and use them as you see fit. You are supplied with a plastic template with the name "MUD KITCHEN", a hob and some mud splats. I chose to cut this up to use, which proved a good idea. I used some satinwood paint that I had in the garage and stippled it on - the centre of some of the letters and the hob are loose, so painting would result in the paint going under the template and spoiling the effect. In conclusion, therefore, a substantial unit once assembled which has already proved a great success!

My wife purchased this for our son having considered all of the reviews, good and bad.Having now assembled it, I can better understand the other reviews. It took about 1.5 hours to put together and that's only because I had to keep swapping from a screwdriver head to a drill bit on my battery drill. The parts and screws are all numbered clearly. All bar 1 instruction are also clear. The flat pack design has not been sympathic toward anyone not confident in using power tools as the instructions don't indicate that you'll need to drill any extra holes, but you will if you don't want to risk any parts splitting. (see previous review images)Previous reviews have said that there are and aren't pre-drilled holes in the parts. Both are correct. The main holes to insert screws are there but there are no pilot holes to receive the screws meaning you risk cracking parts, even with the self-tapping screws provided. I've seen wood splitting too many times without them.It would be better value for money if it was designed for easy assembly by anyone. Currently, some will manage but it will cause frustration to others. My only issue was the back of the water butt was warped so it wouldn't hang on the tiny screws provided for it. I changed them for slightly larger ones and trimmed the tips off the back.Overall, our son loves it and it's sturdy once together.

Bought this as the weather will be nice enough for the kids to play in the garden.Easy to assemble (I read reviews where the materials were not numbered and/or did not come with instructions - mine came with both). It does wobble a little but if I plant it in the garden grass I can easily fix that. The cover for the sink gets a little stiff when you close it. This could be cause by the area under the 'cooker' to be a little narrow however, I don't think I see a need to close it.The pouch (where the kids can pour water out of) is a little awkward to put on. I would suggest getting larger screws instead of the ones provided.Just a warning ::: summer time is where mosquitos come out and when there is water.Remember to empty all water in it after use!

I’m assuming some of the negative reviews are from people trying to assemble this with a hand screwdriver, amateur DIY-ers or a combination of the two. Firstly the pieces couldn’t be marked any clearer, all numbered perfectly. It took me about an hour and 15 minutes using an impact driver. All holes are pre-drilled where the screw needs to start but the connecting pieces are not - this in my experience is completely normal in flat pack assembly. There are probably 70+ screws so I would not attempt this with a hand screwdriver but if you’ve a drill driver/impact driver it’s very easy! The quality of the wood seems spot on, very sturdy once assembled, the kids love it.

This is a lovely little kitchen. My daughter and son in law put it together, it is definitely a two man job so everything is flush while drilling. All bits and pieces were there and complete along with screws etc. Lovely treated wood. Very good quality and I'm really pleased with it and very glad I bought it . I highly recommend this mud kitchen, I like the water sink? top soil part that can slide across and be a pastry board! - and the water holder with tap is just great. A little blackboard to write 'dish of the day'. the utensils that come with kitchen are good quality and a nice little starter kit. Hours of fun and a very good buy.

Great mud kitchen, little one absolutely loves it. The process of putting it together is a bit tricky - would work way better if pilot holes were in each piece of timber - instead of you having to measure/guess where the pieces match up (screw holes are on the flat boards but not marked where you are to attach the two together on the receiving piece of timber). and definitely use a drill with a screw head!! But the niggles of building it are definitely outweighed by the quality of it and enjoyment the kids will get from it over the years.

Arrived yesterday in a flat pack, therefore self assembly. Though it is advertised as assembled. The instructions look very easy to follow but unfortunately not all the screw holes (where the dowels fit) are pre-drilled. You need a combi drill, I do have a drill but it is too heavy for the task. After getting in touch with customer services VERY have offered to refund the cost of construction, as I cannot manage to use a drill due to arthritis. On the whole the item looks good quality and made from strong wood.

Was a little worried after reading some reviews about having to pre drill holes ourselves and paint the hobs on however I was delighted to find all holes were already predrilled and it was already painted! It took about an hour to put up the instructions were super easy to follow and the product feels sturdy and well made. Little one has spent everyday playing happily. The water butt with tap is a great feature and love that it comes with pans and a whisk. Excellent addition to any garden.

this was a present for my grandchildren and was worried about reviews stating how difficult it was to assemble.it did take 3 hours with 2 people to assemble it but once up was an instant hit with the kids who have had endless fun with it and the mud!Looks nice - might need protection from more severe elements. The drawer does get filled with rain water - we now turn it upside down in the slot when play is finished and this solved the problem.A good investment at the price.

So we bought this for our 4 year old granddaughter - she was very excited with it and seems to love it - however putting it together definitely requires two people and an electric drill .... some of the screws were into virgin wood. At first the smell in the house was overpowering from the wood treatment, but other reviewers had said this disappears when outside. I am sure the recent rain will have helped that - but it is a good product I would expect to last for years!

My grandchildren had waited for their dads to make a mud kitchen out of pallets and when this didn’t happen I bought one of these.I was very happy with the ease of construction and was very happy with myself with the results.Needless to say the grandchildren are delighted with it and play happily for hours .The design of this with extending worktop and running water is brilliant and means it can cope with a few children together.

I never really go buy the reviews, this had so many bad ones. It took me a while to just go for it. It if very annoying to put together. But it really is perfect, nothing wrong with it at all. My boys have had sand and water in it. They have been using it for a few months now. My garden is in full sun all day. I still have not got round to getting a cover for it but truly it's perfect no damage from the weather or play.

We bought this for our toddler and he loves it. It’s very sturdy and strong, but the only downside is that it took me and my husband over 3 hours to put together. The pieces should come a bit more pre-assembled. It was very hard to put the screws through thick wood and it required a proper electrical screwdriver with strong power (we had to borrow from our neighbour as ours didn’t manage).

Purchased for our daughter, within two weeks of assembly there was evidence of weathering.... understandable if out all winter but not such a short time period. Possibly just a defective piece of wood but disappointing!!Edit... contacted tp customer services and got replacement parts sent out promptly, changing from 2 star to 4 star due to fab customer care.

Good clear instructions, good quality materials and it feels very robust. It has a sliding section which needs a little more care to assemble & may need some tlc to maintain functionality longer term, especially if being used & left outside. Overall impressed with product so far including price, packaging etc. Allow a couple of hours to unpack & assemble.
