I bought this as a Christmas present for my just-turned-three year old son who is absolutely obsessed with Thomas. It was our first "real" train set, and I was worried about whether or not he would find it more frustrating than fun.Well, he hasn't put the train down in over 24 hours! The track snapped together easily, and it stays together perfectly (except for when he sat on the bridge--but even that went right back together!). The train cars lock together easily and do not fall apart. My son can easily operate all of the switches by himself. The train keeps chugging, even if it is slightly off the track or just on the floor without the track. The train has been dropped, banged up, slept on,

We had a great laugh watching our 5 year old son (who isn't a Thomas fan) getting so excited watching the train zoom around the track quickly. Most of the time the smoke came out, I'm not sure why it came out only sometimes but when you stop it at the station a huge puff of smoke comes out and whistles at the same time much to our delight. It only holds a small amount of water so needs topped up a few times. This is a great toy to get out on a cold day to keep them busy unless you have it built up all the time, it doesn't take long to build, about 5-10 minutes. When they started getting bored after about half an hour they made the train chase some dolls round the track, which they got quite excited about.

It's not often I'm compelled to write a review, especially about a toy, but this one has really impressed me and my wife. (whoops....and of course our children). Maybe it is slightly on the expensive side, but you do get a very innovative high quality toy for your money.The stream action is better than I thought....espcially when the train pulls into the station and lets out loud whistle and a long burst of steam. The steam is actual cool...which I can't understand...who ever heard of cool steam...but it safe for the kids which is all that matters.Well done Tomy!!!

This bridge has brought extra delight to my three year old and his Thomas Road and Rail train track. It does make the track extra large so plenty of room space is now needed when we set the whole thing up! But he loves it. I would say that the bridge is a little flimsy but not to the cost of enjoyment my son gets out of it, and it's not so flimsy that I am not constantly putting it back together again for him. For my son it seems to have been a valuable addition to his Thomas the Tank Engine mania! Therefore I would have to say that this has been a good buy.

My grandson loves this. Have a 20 year old original at home for when I look after him so bought one for him to have at home. Still good but quality not quite the same and can't see it lasting 20 years! Train and carriages used to hold together with magnets which is brilliantly simple now uses fiddly plastic hooks which he can't manage himself. Still he loves it and it gives hours of pleasure.

My Grandson was really pleased with his present but, unfortunately the 2 different tracks that he uses doesn't fit the Knapford Station and it doesn't say or advertise that you need to purchase another track to go with it, so very misleading and a bit disappointing once you've put it together that you can't run the trains in and out of station.

My 7 year old has loved the Tomy Road and rail system since he was 3....we have loads of it and it is so flexible...you can build new layouts everytime....virtually unbreakable....brilliant and actually good value because you will be able to hand it down to others completely intact.Much better than Brio/wooden systems but we have those too!

This set really impressed our 3 young children. The steam effect is just as described and really adds to the enjoyment. Great value, and I have no doubt we will be adding to our little island of Sodor for birthdays etc. Recommended.

Being a big Thomas/trains fan and into anything that needs building my nephew loved this. He found it easy to build and played with it for hours. It seemed to be well made and lasted well, getting handed down to younger cousins.

We bought this two years ago for our little boy. 2 years on, played with everyday and it's still in great condition, only the rubber wheel trims have gone by the wayside.Fantastic value for money and hours of endless fun!

This is an excellent addition for any child who already owns a Tomy Motor Road and Rail System. Hours of fun making up stories about the station. Tomy toys are of excellent construction and are very durable.

My 3 year old is having hours of fun with this. It works just as described, with steam-like vapour and lights, and great sound effects.
