This is a very cute toy suitable for little ones aged 18 months and older purely I suspect because of the spoon and the force needed to hit the egg. There is just a music setting which would be perfectly suitable for a younger one with adult supervision as the music is quite nice and the eyes light up on the chick. The chick arrives in demo mode which is really loud but when you change it to on the volume does decrease a bit. There are 4 different modes; the music playing I mentioned above, funny sounds (chick noises, boing noises etc), a do-re-mi one where your little one taps the top of the egg to copy the chick and another mode which I feel is similar to the do-re-mi one in all honesty yetis called musical layer. The chicks eyes light up when it is being tapped or when it is playing the music or silly sound effects and its a nice little toy albeit with limited play value.

Playing with this toy is a bit like a mini disco experience for toddlers; it plays classic kiddie tunes but with a really funky dance beat while the glasses light up red and green like disco lights. It's quite loud even on the normal mode so is designed to be danced to, its not like a typical noisy toy that plays away passively in the background. As for the toy itself it's fairly limited in what it does; you tap the top with a spoon and it plays music in sync. My 3 year old finds it a fun addition to when we do music time, I keep it in the box with her maracas, drum, tambourine etc and we play with it when making music but it doesn't really have a huge amount of play value beyond that. This would make a good gift for toddlers that love making music, but it's quite loud and may bother others that don't like loud noises.

My two year old daughter is very rough with toys, so it is a good job this is well made and very sturdy! Basically you give your toddler the spoon and they batter the egg with it. It also has an interactive button on the front! It wobbles like a Weeble (remember them?) and plays tunes that will clearly grind your gears in a matter of no time. But all in all the daughter loves it, it's eyes light up red and green like a mad 'un too!So get ready and bash it's head in along to the beat of Twinkle Twinkle!I would recommend this for ages from approx. 6 months to 4 years, as it is a decent interactive toy.If you found this review useful then please click the helpful button below, and be sure to check out our other reviews of products you may also consider purchasing from Amazon. My grandchildren have all loved the "Hide & Squeak" eggs so I had high hopes for this. The hide and squeak eggs are small and easy for little hands to hold and also help co-ordination as they fit the two halves of each egg together. This requires a lot less input from the child and while it will play different tunes as you tap the shell with the spoon or whatever the child finds to hit it with, that is about it. It is cause and effect but that is about all. The child will hopefully learn the songs but I do feel that the enjoyment is somewhat passive and th child will quickly lose interest. It is a good sturdy toy that is well balanced and will not break easily with being dropped or pushed aroundby the child but I do feel that the appeal is a bit limited.

My daughter has the toomies eggs in the egg box already so this made a nice addition for her. When we received it, it was going off in the box which made the postman laugh! It is a funky looking egg with a few nice features, the sunglasses light up in different colours either side, as well as lots of sounds and tunes. It comes with a spoon which the child can bash the egg with. This was great fun for my daughter but I think it will be a short lived toy, in actual fact the original toomies are better for concentration and actual play time. Comes in a nice box and would make a perfect Easter present instead of a chocolate egg.Marking down one star as it could do with just a couple more features.

This toy is very interesting for little ones as it creates various sounds and tunes, and the eyes light up as well. The tapping part is not suitable for babies as they would need to hold the spoon and hit the toy with a decent amount of force, that is why on the packaging it says 18+ months. The only mode that would be interesting for the younger babies is the one where it plays the song by itself. The egg is 12 cm tall and 10 cm wide so it is safe to use around babies, however, the spoon could be a choking hazard. The battery compartment is safely secured with screws on the underside and the toy comes with batteries included, neat. It is made out of sturdy plastic and is overall quality made.

I grew up with Tomy and it has always been a brand I associate with quality. All these years later it is nice to see that the cost/quality ratio has not slipped. This little egg is great fun. Kids LOVE making noise and given half the chance love to whack things, in the past, I have reverted to giving the little guy a wooden spoon and a saucepan, but it's nice to be able to give a purpose-made toy :)The egg is very sturdy, colourful and great fun for little ones to hit with the spoon. Batteries are included (which is nice) and includes 4 modes to keep the little ones busy. For the price, a great item.

We received the Tomy toomies beat it egg today and our 9 month old was all over it although it’s going in the bedroom as it is going to be his Easter present. The toy was set on Demo setting which was really loud, too loud! So I changed it to on mode and it seems quieter but still on the loud-ish side. The toy looks really cute and our boy was fascinated by its eyes as they lighten up. He hasn’t played with the spoon as he is quite young for that but he pressed the button on the front quite a few times and loved the different sounds that came from the toy.The toy comes include batteries.

Another fun TOMY toy - a large version of the 'veggies' in the box - this one has lights, sounds and interactivity. My son enjoys giving it a good old bash with the spoon and delights in the resulting entertainment from the lights or the sounds - it's the sort of toy for your little one to explore either alone 'by accident' or with an adult showing how each part works. Either way, as I say, it is great fun.Not too big either, and so it gets carried along with us too.Recommended

Perfect little toy for a toddler. Tap the egg with the spoon and it wobbles, makes sounds and generally gets the children laughing. There’s also little games they can play as they get older - for example - copying a sequence. With these Little games I feel this will be a toy that will be played with for a very long time

What a cute little toy this is - a perfect gift for Easter for a child over 18 months. It's suitable for any time of the year though of course as it's an engaging toy with lights and sounds. It looks attractive and is a lovely size for little hands to explore.

I, and importantly my daughter really like this.Really funky its a good size, well made and comes preinstalled with batteries. The tune is really funky and here's one in particular that triggers memories of the old Red Dwarf theme tune.Fun for now

Very cute little toy with a range of fun sounds for a baby - mine is 10 months and isn’t too take with it yet but the concept is good and I’m confident she’ll enjoy it more over the next few months. Would definitely recommend.

Cute toy which I bought as a gift for Easter. The demo mode makes it sound like the noises are going to be really annoying but it's actually fine on normal mode. My one year old enjoys playing with it.

Tap the egg with the spoon for it to make different music, sounds and actions, great for kids in their learning stages
