My oldest daughter and I love to play computer games together, but my baby eyes our controllers enviously. I am not planning to give her one of my precious controllers and Fisher Price must be aware of the number of parents out there with the same issue as the 'Game and Learn Controller' is absolutely perfect for providing a baby or young toddler with something of their own to play.It would have been simple for Fisher Price just to churn out a pad and not do much else, but that is not their way. The build itself is great quality and colourful. It can take a bashing from a baby with ease. The best thing is that it has loads of elements you would expect from a modern controller; joystick and D-Pad,play buttons and even shoulder mounted buttons. A child can be tricked into thinking it was a real controller should you chose as it has the same features. The various buttons produce sounds that are educational from numbers and colours, but also game references. You get a few Nintendo like sounds emitting from certain presses and there is a Konami Easter Egg should you know what to press. I also enjoyed the life affirming responses that the joypad gives - "great job!"I understand that this is only a toy meant for a baby, but I feel it was designed by real gamers. The attention given to making it look like a proper controller that has gone through toddlerfication is excellent. For any parent that is also a gamer you will have fun just watching your baby play with it (and give them a head start on their ability to game with you). This has to be one of the best toys for baby we have. A Sammy Recommendation.

Bought this for my son who was fascinated with my own PS4 controller, he loves holding it and pressing the buttons, he's not quite old enough to understand all the switches and wheels yet, but I've no doubt this toy will continue to hold his interest when he gets older. The sound quality is really good, the voice is clear and not annoying, and the sounds are great - it's full of all kinds of high-quality retro game sounds from different game genres (any 90s gamer will recognise some of them) as well as a bright light up display (the light is a sort of glow underneath the white plastic rather than being an actual light button which is a bit different to most of his toys as you don't know what colour it will be beforehand). This has been thrown about many times by my now 7.5 month old and it is still working fine so it's definitely suitable from 6 months on. At the moment he's only interested in the sounds and lights, but there is another mode for when he is older which is more educational and will teach them about numbers and shapes and colours. So all in all it's excellent value toy that has both entertainment and educational uses and will last as your child grows and develops...

This is a chunky, well made, child's version of a games console control unit. The toy combines some traditional learning experiences (different shaped buttons and controls that click and move in various ways to create differing effects) with a role play implementation of a games controller. The controller includes a bright, colour changing light section at the centre, and plays a range of sounds and songs when the various controls are selected, as well as offering colour, shape and number teaching functions - for example, the numbered direction pad recites the name of the number shown when the controller is pressed in a particular direction,as well as playing one of several different programmed percussion noises that number of times. The programmed voice speaks with a (Standard Southern-ish) British English accent. The design really does look like a gaming controller. My newborn nephew is a bit young for this 6 months plus toy just yet, but his proud older brothers are very keen to show it to him! This takes 3x AAA batteries. There are batteries included, but these are 'demonstration batteries' which have been pre-engaged so this can be tried out e.g. in a shop.

Fisher-Price FWG12 Game and Learn ControllerThe beauty of this toy is that you can shove it in your baby's direction to distract them from going for your actual game controller. It doesn't look that much like a real game controller of course, but it's sort of equivalent and the 12-month old can be bought off with it! It is a fun, cheerful toy with all sorts of stated educational aims, including teaching your baby or toddler some first words, letters, numbers, colours and shapes using songs and sounds. Hit a button and out comes a sound. The colours are bright and the sounds cheerful. One gripe with all these Fisher Price educational toys is that the voice is tinny and slightly indistinct, which can be confusing for a young child when learning to connect two seemingly unconnected things - eg a sound and a shape. Also, the star is rounded so isn't really a star shape - again, slightly confusing. Another gripe is that this sort of toy is about the child responding to or learning how to use the item, rather than something the child can use for imaginative play. For sale at the time of writing this review at £16.09.

My son hasn’t taken to this one as much as I thought he might but he can use it very easily at 17 months. I think if you were a gamer and they are trying to take the real one off you constantly then this is a great way to get them to sit and pretend they are playing too. I do like that this is a bit of a mix of a controller and a fidget cube – on the top is a dial and switch then on the main part is the joystick, controls and buttons. In learning mode they can learn numbers, colours, letters and shapes mixed in with gaming sounds and music. In music mode there are lots of gaming related phrases like level 1, high score, bonus points etc and the buttons play various gaming sounds. It’s a great size – easy for little hands to hold and play with and also as a parent I appreciate their being 2 volume levels which are almost inaccessible.

Looking a bit like a games controller this Fisher-Price Game and Learn Controller has almost as much functionality as the real thing. The difference of course is that all the songs, tunes, and word play are internal to the controller itself. It has nice big colourful buttons and knobs, which are easy for little hands to operate. The sounds it generates are very clear and the voice is suitably friendly and joyful (ie not a dull robotic voice). The whole thing is , as you'd expect from Fisher Price, very well made and robust. Our 7 month old grand daughter took to it immediately. Her face lights up as the controller talks and sings to her. Will be great for her dexterity and audial development as well has teaching some basic numeric and alphabet knowledge.

This is a sturdy baby toy made by fisher price that makes noises and flashes lights when you press it's buttons. That is all well and good. If you've ever bought something similar from them you know the types of build quality, the chirpy voice acting and repetitive electronic noises to expect. But what makes this an essential for any video game loving parent, especially any 8 bit Nintendo loving parent is that some genius at Fisher Price has programmed it with the Konami code (lots of videos of this online). What better start in life can you give your child than helping get 99 Lives in the NES version of Contra right from the cradle.Gaming parents; this is your duty!

The postman had a laugh with this. It was delivered in a padded plastic envelope. It was chatting away every time he moved it in his bag.It is chunky, bright and has a few sounds, spoken words, numbers and colours. The centre glows with a flashing light. Not all the buttons make it come alive, some just make a clicking noise. A nice way to introduce a few numbers and colours, but doesn't do much other than that. It is fairly well built and has survived a few drops onto a tiled floor without any visible damage. For the limited things it does; the current price of £15 it isn't the best value for money Fisher Price early learning toy you can get.

This is the perfect accompaniment for babies and toddlers. I have a 7 month old baby and a two year old toddler that both absolutely love this games controller. It is light enough for baby to play with it without it hurting himself. The controller has two settings: music and educational. It goes through numbers and letters of the alphabet, sings and flashes multiple colours of lights. There are two volume settings that you could adjust according to preference. There are also knobs to press that make a sensory noise not music. I highly recommend this product as it’s very easy to slip into a changing bag and provides hours of entertainment.

Got this for our little son who - surprise- is obsessed with my PS3 controllers. And despite clearly being a toy, it actually did the trick - he loves playing with it, pressing the colourful buttons and looking at all the changing and flashing colours. The sound quality is very good and depending on the mode setting, it will either act as educational toy (shapes, colours and numbers) or a gaming device with sounds from old retro games.Despite being plastic - its very sturdy toy and will withstand loads of throwing around, falls and walking-over it. In summary - amazing value for a great toy. Fisher price quality for sure!

Was bought for Christmas, great price - was twice the price in asda and tescos. My daughter loves anything with buttons and her favourite things are the remote for the TV and the ps4 controller. She actually plays with this one for quite a long time without getting fed up. Wish I bought it for her sooner to be honest but I'm sure she will get a lot of use out of it. Lots of different sounds so not overly repetitive unlike other noisy toys. Very colourful. It's been thrown about a lot and no issues with it yet.

My one year old son loves this toy. It's bright and makes lots of noise/ sounds/ music. It's really easy for him to use and play with and gives him a big smile on his face. My older daughter also likes playing with it. Totally recommended. It's also made of strong plastic, survives lots of drops and doesn't appear to show any scratches from being pulled along. Also there is an on/off button with 2 noise settings underneath which helps conserve the batteries and also allows parents to turn down the volume!!

This game pad has a range of sensory aspects such as letters, shapes, lights, sounds, music, numbers, words & songs, plus various things to push & pull on its surface. The centre of the pad lights up & has different coloured lights that shine out where the face is. All of the buttons are brightly coloured & inviting. This toy is one that will grow with my child & it has reference to real life items too. We are very happy with how entertaining it is & our son presses it with ease all on his own.

This is a great little Fisher Price toy. It arrived to us in a Jiffy bag and as it was delivered it went off with music playing and lights flashing! It stimulates lots of senses with sounds, lights and touch. There’s a little bit ABCD literacy and 1234 numeracy. Batteries are supplied and it’s a decent price - under £15. It’s a nice size too - about the size and shape of a large games controller. It can be kept in the toy box or it’s easy enough to carry if you’re out and about. Recommended.
