My 18 month old grandson is absolutely terrified of having a bath. We have tried everything, bubbles, sprays, squirty bottles and numerous bath toys, all to no avail. Give our grandson a bath and the screaming doesn't stop, not until he is dry and dressed in his pyjamas. So when I was offered a Tomy Stack n Play Lighthouse to review, I thought "why not?" It's worth a try. After a discussion with my husband and our son and daughter in law, we had devised a plan that might just work. The lighthouse is made up of different coloured stacking pieces, all of which are in fact individual brightly coloured water pourers. Each pourer has a different number of holes in the bottom to sieve the water through. The aim is to stack the pieces by size until you get to the top, then you place the lighthouse keeper on the top who will light up and play a catchy seaside tune (pleasant and not too loud).Anyway that's the toy, now for the plan ... and a certain amount of bribery.I filled the bath with 'baby' temperature water, which must have felt pretty cool to my nine year old daughter who told me in no uncertain terms that the water was "freezing", I had asked to don her swimsuit and get into the bath. My grandson adores his older cousin and this little fact we were relying on.We gave our daughter the Tomy Lighthouse and she (with a little bit of exaggerated shivering) started to play with the toy. Once she was in full play mode we brought our grandson into the bathroom. At first he pulled back and opened his mouth ready for the usual crescendo that accompanies bath time. However, once he realised that his cousin was actually having great fun ... and he wasn't it wasn't long before he demanded to be placed in the bath with her.The only problem was, our daughter was having so much fun that she didn't want to give our grandson the toy to play with. Our grandson started crying so I told our daughter not to be so selfish. She thought about that for a moment then gave the toy to our grandson who was soon in rapt delight, playing and pouring with no fear in sight. Now for the bribery. Our daughter stated that as she had to "totally freeze" in the bath the least we could do is buy her, her own TOMY Stack n Play Lighthouse. And what could we say to that.

A bath toy that makes bath time fun! This is a kind of stacking game crossed with a sieving game crossed with a rubber duck and a musical interlude. The green base floats about in the water and the aim of the game is to stack the rings up on top of this in size order until you reach the top when you can put on the light house keeper and play a merry little sea shanty and make the lights flash like a real light house... only along the way you can watch the way water runs about in the cup and out of the holes in the bottom and on to your leg or head or where ever is fun, then you improve your hand eye coordination and fine motor skills by getting the cup on the right way round and in the right order, then you count the number of cups you have got on to make sure you have got them all and you learn a load of stuff with out realising it because you are just having fun - the best kind of learning and the best kind of toy!The flashing light and sea shanty music are thankfully nice and subdued so won't bounce of the bathroom wall giving you a head ache and are bearable even after having heard them a million times.the construction and products are of a high quality so durable and can with stand play from little ones who often like to explore with their mouths and give things a good chew. The age stated is 18 months but I would think that younger children would be able to cope well with this and really enjoy it too, as long as they are supervised and can sit unaided they would get a kick out of this.

This is a really good bath toy that stands at approx 27cm high including the Lighthouse Keeper Dog and approx 18cm wide at the green base. The green base floats in the bath and your little one is then able to stack the three stacking cups, light top piece and Dog on top to build a floating Lighthouse. When you place the Lighthouse Keeper Dog on top of the light top piece it lights and flashes gently along with plays a little sea sort of shanty for approx 10 seconds. You don't need to push the dog down on the piece you just have to gently place him on top and the music also has a little sea sound effect of seagull's in the background to the music being played.A really nice toy which has been a hit in the tub with both my son and baby daughter. The age recommendation advises 18months plus but my baby daughter is much younger than this and has been playing with the stacking cups quite happily and I can't see any small pieces that may be a danger to a younger baby so would think this was suitable for little ones. The three stacking cups all have holes in them so that your little one can play with them in the bath as little sieve type toys too. One thing I will say is that the Lighthouse Keeper Dog looks a little odd if I am being honest and maybe would have been better in a browner colour than the yellowy beige he is but the rest of the Lighthouse pieces are nice shades of their colours and not the garish looking shades the product pictures make them look like.

This is a lovely toy that is both really enjoyable for bathtime, and also aids in development. It has lots of different features - children can play with the rings individually, exploring the different pouring and sprinkling effects, and they can also stack the rings together to create the lighthouse structure. These activities aid motor skills, hand-eye co-ordination, counting, etc. And once the lighthouse keeper is added to the top of the tower, the child is rewarded with a flashing light (just like a real lighthouse!) and a little musical tune. The toy is well made, with bright, durable plastic rings and a wide green base that floats well in the bathwater. It's been sensitively designed as well - the flashing light is gentle, and the tune that plays is not too loud, and is actually bordering on relaxing, a nice change from most children's toys! It only lasts for about ten seconds and there are the sounds of seagulls and waves in the background which is a nice touch. I appreciate the fact that the light and music are not over-the-top as it means children won't get too overstimulated before bedtime.I think this is a decent value toy that is lots of fun, and I'm sure I'll be buying more of these as presents for friends' children.

Bath time is ace, especially if you have a cool toy or two to play with. For me, this takes the form of a novel, but most 2 years olds would be more interested in something as impressive as the ‘TOMY Stack n Play Lighthouse’. Not only is does this Lighthouse let you build it up from the base, all the way to the top, but it has lots of other little extras too. The Lighthouse is made up of different parts that will sieve the water differently and once built it is massive! However, the most impressive thing comes in the form of the Lighthouse Keeper Dog who sits on the top. If you push him down you are not only treated to a sea shanty, but also a flashing Lighthouse.Having LEDs in the bath is pretty amazing and the ‘TOMY Lighthouse’ is safe to do so.It has a very good build quality with nice bright plastic. The only small issue I saw with mine was that some of the plastic moulding was a tiny bit rough in places where a seal must have been cut off in the moulding process. Overall, a great bath time toy for little ones that like to stack.

This lighthouse is made out of durable plastic, which will take any amount of beating. Each little dish has a different pattern of holes, through which the water will run. This alone is likely to provide hours of bathtime fun. It certainly did for my niece's little boy, aged 2 yrs. Most kids are fascinated by water, so this is a great way to provide fun at bathtime. I thought the batter compartment might leak, but its secured by three screws and fits securely and well, and is powered by three button cells LR44. they are well secured and child proof, so long as the screws are well tightened. So I would have no worries on that front about either child eating batteries or water penetrating into the toy. They are low voltage so perfectly save. The child gets to assemble the toy and light pressure on the top plays a little jig, or sea shanty, for a few seconds, whilst a light flashes on and off. Great fun.It wont keep'em quiet, but it will keep them happy! And a nice change from the rubber duck.

As any parent will tell you, bath times are not always fun. Its a total lottery which will ultimately be decided by the mood of your child at the time! Our youngest is happy in the bath 'providing' he has something to do which will keep his attention. Its all about variety as what works one day will not always work the next.I had a feeling that he would become bored of this toy as I have seen similar kinds of toys be disregarded after a few weeks although he seems very taken by this. The colours are great, nice and bright and the size is perfect, its not so big that you have trouble washing your child although it is big enough to keep interest. He loves stacking the parts up in order to get the lantern lit up,he also has great fun pouring. Naturally, the bits do get thrown around a fair bit (both in and out of the bath) although the plastic seems very tough and I can't imagine it breaking as a result. This is an excellent bath toy, surely one of the best we have tried.

It's bright and colourful, not too taxing for little hands to pick up and stack together with each differently coloured section having different sprinkle holes so water can be collected in the little bucket shaped pieces and sprinkled through the holes in the bottom.Upon completion the little figure at the top (sort of looks like a dog and appears to have a little stubby tale) the lighthouse keeper can be placed on top and if depressed the section below lights up with a gently pulsating soft white light and a few seconds of a sea shanty sounding tune play. There is only the one tune and it lasts for about 10 seconds or so. It's also of a level and pitch that is not particularly annoying with continual use and anyway that is only the culmination of the build/play.The whole thing sits on a circular green base which floats really well and remains stable even when stacked up. It's good fun for small ones without doubt and brilliantly batteries are included with this.

This is simple, but very fun and effective as a bath-time toy. The green base floats in the water in the bath or if you have a ledge next to the bath, it could stand on "dry land" and it has three stacking cups with various patterns of holes in them for water sieving action, watching the patterns as it pours out.On top of the stack, you can place the light of the lighthouse, onto which, when you place the Lighthouse captain duck(?) onto the top, a jaunty sea shanty is played, with subtle seagull sound effects included for a real feel of the sea and the lighthouse light is activated. The music is lively, but each time it plays, it is only for a fairly short burst (so it doesn't play on an endless loop!)and it isn't jarring, but pleasant and fun. The light is of course safe to use in the bath, but of course we had a chat with our little ones, explaining that other lights are not to be played with in the bath - that this is a special one for the bath!

This combines an old-fashioned stacking toy with the added fun of the lighthouse keeper on top. When he is in place, there is a delightful sound played. It is quite short and not really very loud which is a good thing. It reminded me of really old fashioned seaside pier merry go round or similar. It has a very pleasing quality.Overall this toy is low-key rather than bright gaudy colours. The lighthouse keeper ( who looks a bit dog like) has his binoculars on looking out to sea, which could become part of bath time play, looking out for boats or large plastic ducks perhaps! Each section can be used to collect water for endless pouring and sprinkling. A really very good bath toy.My baby granddaughter fell in love with this toy.It soothed her and I could and did listen to the seaside sounds over and over and never got irritated. Like baby I found it soothing. Daughter stated this the best bath toy they have come across.

Tomy have once again designed a lovely toy which will keep your little one entertained whilst also educating them about the world around them. Bath time will be lots of fun with the addition of the Stack n Play Lighthouse and your child will love filling the cups and watching the water interacts with each one, running through the holes. It also provides scope for extending learning about colour, size ordering and counting alongside developing hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. To top it all off there is a lovely light up lighthouse keeper and sea shantie music which is actually rather pleasant and designed not to get on your nerves, despite multiple listenings. This is a high quality, well made toy from Tomy which will surely keep your little one (and you) entertained at bath time whilst learning and developing essential skills.

I think most people with small children have had stacking bath time cups, they offer loads of fun ways to keep children entertained at bath time. This Stack n Play Lighthouse offers loads more, sure it comes to pieces into individual cups that that sieve and sprinkle water from one to another, but floating on its base it allows for children to stack and create the lighthouse tower. The addition of the flashing light and the nautical music gives a real feeling of achievement when the tower is complete. From a grownups point of view, it is rather big to be left on the side of the bath so I find myself putting it away in-between uses, a bit of a hassle and more so drying each piece before you do so.So a minor grumble for what I’m sure will be a winning bath time toy.

This is a simple concept that works very well as a bath toy. Stack together the brightly coloured parts to build a good sized floating lighthouse and when you stand the lighthouse keeper on the top the lighthouse lights up and plays a little tune. The recommended age is 18 months+ but there are no small parts so I had no concerns playing with this with my 8 month old. She loved splashing with the cups and listening to the tune (which isn't too loud or annoying). This is a toy that she can develop her play with as she gets older and goes from knocking down the tower to stacking it herself, pouring water from the cups to role playing with the lighthouse keeper.Add a toy boat and there is lots of scope for imaginative play.

Tomy is a reliable name and this appealing stacking toy lives up to expectations, offering lots of bath-time fun. It’s colourful, appealing and rugged. Young hands will have no problems getting to grips with it, and it teaches dexterity. There’s a rather repetitive tune but it isn’t too loud or irritating and doesn’t drag on for long. The completed lighthouse floats well, even in the roughest of waters, and the LEDs do a good job of lighting it up.Having said that, it’s the cups, all with different water-sprinkling holes, that have proved the biggest hit, in our house – they get played with for ages. The simplest toys are often the most successful. It’s good to find such a versatile bath toy.Well worth five stars.

My daughter is five and loved this at bath time so dont be afraid to buy this for slightly older kids. Nice bright colours. Good quality build and easy to use. Each section stacks on top of the next and finishes with the little lighthouse keeper which when placed on top plays a litle tune and the light flashes on and off.. dont panic like i did as you assume this cannot possibly be water proof. Trust me it is. Each stacking section has holes so can be used for extra water play. My only gripe is that the tune is very very quiet as are the seaside sound effects.i understand loud tunes can be annoying but a little louder would have made more sense. All in all a good quality toy and tons of cute bathtime fun
