Everything about this game is superb! I am so sick of Rockstar games producing yet another Grand Theft Auto as they all play very much alike as there is nothing pushing you to do the missions so all you end up doing is killing people and taking their money. Those G. T. A. games are so completely boring now it is tragic! This beautiful game however is the complete opposite! It is totally sublime; a perfect piecce of pure craftsmanship in gameplay, grahics and adictiveness it makes you want to keep playing it! There is one slight niggle with it and that is that the rally count appears on the screen as you are playing and curiosity makes you want to look at it (especially if it has been a long one)which means you take your eye off the ball and the table and your opponant then has an easy shot to score the point. If you are lucky then he/she won't do because you will return the ball. But that only happens occasionally. Maybe it would have been better if all of the shots (or at least the last few) were counted in the replay as the replays in Exhibition mode are long, even boardering on too long. The long replays aren't there as such in Tournament mode which is a good thing. There is a nice touch where the crowd chants the name of the player you are playing as and they also stamp their feet not once but numerous times which gives the impression that the crowd watching the game is large. it is just a shame that that only happens on game point in your favour. It would have been nice to hear it happening for both players (the computer one as well; it may well happen if both players are human cotrolled) at and on other points during the game and match and then have it icrease in frequencey as you progress through the rounds to the final where it happens most of all but not by then on every point as that would be daft! Then we could also hear the umpire/referee ask for quite. As we don't hear the umpire/referee (we only hear the scorer (ok that COULD be the referee calling out the scores I can't remember)) at all/much and it would be nice to hear the sorts of things that they say. Oh well, can't have everything, I suppose. This is still a highly playable and enjoyable game. I hope I can revise this review after I have tried it online. It loses half a star for lack of sound effects and half for not being a bit bigger.

Table Tennis is a sport that hasn't really had a lot of publicity over the years, probably rightly so. This is why there haven't been all that many video games about it to my knowledge, and those that were relesed have been flops. The bargain price, in comariso to the other Xbox 360 titles on the marke, ensured it would get sales. But the thing that not many people were expecting was for it to be a brilliant game. The graphics are lush. There isn't too much detail in the arenas but this is more than made up for by the character models. They have perfectly realised skin textures, their shirts get sweaty after a particularly long game, the bats look as though they really have rubber on them, not just a layer of nasty binary code. The facial expressions are second to none. And this is just a first generation tile! If Rockstar Games are to be believed and we actually DO see this much character definition in the new GTA game then we are all in for a treat.Controls are intuitive, one stick for movement and shot placement, the face buttons for the direction of spin you want. Hold it down for power and away you go. You press a shoulder button for either a soft shot or a power shot. Couldn't be simpler than that. The controls may be simple, but the competition is far from it. The first difficulty level is a doddle but when you try to move up through the tournaments it becomes quite the challenge. Winning tournaments is the way to unlock new characters, and other unlockables are available by winning matches with certain shots or by a certain number of points. The online mode is easy to get into, is stable and hardly ever lags. You have two options here, either a one-on-one exhibition match, or a four or eight player timed tournament where you play everybody for a few minutes each.Achievements vary in difficulty but most are obtainable by just playing the game enough. For a budget title this is amazing and probably worthy or a higher price tag, so be pleased that Rockstar are a generous bunch and I'll see you around the table sometime.

If someone had come up to me and said that I should purchase a Table Tennis game for my Xbox 360 a few months ago I would have laughed. Memories of 'Pong' may be responsible for this hilarity but the idea of this minority sport becoming a hit computer game is, frankly, laughable. However, purchase it I did and can now say that I am a complete convert. The game is just plain outright fun and so easily accessible. The game itself is graphically beautiful with each player rendered fairly realistically and possessing their own characters, albeit in a limited repertoire of expressions, sayings and actions, but enough to make you warm to them. The controls are very easy to learn and you can be up and playing very quickly to a satisfying and exciting degree.Mastering the controls takes time with features such as 'focus' coming into their own. The timing of shots and the use of 'cut shots' on particularly well struck shots makes for an exciting game. The game comes into its own in two-player mode where you can play against your opponent live on screen. Thankfully the 'split screen' mode is avoided by having the serving player with their back to the camera and the opposing on the other side. Oddly this becomes very intuitive from either side of the table making the game fun for both players. All I can say is that within an hour of setting up and learning, the household became an uproarious place of shouts of despair, joy, frustration, laughter and good-natured rivalry. Even people who were not computer game fans gathered round to watch, cheer and groan with much sideline advice. If you want fun then this is a game to have. In fact every Xbox 360 owner should add it to their collections and just enjoy it with friends or alone. This is a game I shall be enjoying for a long time to come

Had this for a week now. When you fire it up, you first run through a tutorial which shows you all the moves available - this is very useful, and the basics are very easy to learn and pick up. The game is great fun to play overall - lots of high speed action, tension when the rallies get going, and some great visuals. It can get a little frustrating - I find the movement of the player around the table can be inaccurate, and sometimes your player can wander off and give your opposition an easy point. This might just be me though! Another reason this didn't get 5* is due to the lack of gaming options available - there is only exhibition mode and tournament mode availabe against the computer opponent. In the tournament mode there are four challenges to complete, which admittedly are very challenging, but there should've been more to do.XBox Live is of course good fun to play, and whilst every so often you notice a little lag in the movement of your opponent, it is a great challenge and a perfect title for online play. Also playing against friends is amusing - as it doesn't take long to pick up, I've found that I'm often struggling to pick up points against a mate whose only been playing it for 20 minutes.Overall a great highspeed entertaining game which could've been a little bigger.

Mark Bedwell clearly hasn't played this game. I have, and it's fantastic...while it lasts. As the title says, it does exactly what it says on the tin, nothing more. The game is fast paced and immense fun. There aren't many play modes, but multiplayer with mates is what this is all about! OK, you can go and play it for real like Mark says, but the same can be said about all sports games, such as snooker, golf, tennis, football...so quite why he made that statement is beyond me. It's a game Mark, nothing more. The graphics are quite stunning for the most part, with detailed characters and animation. Still, with not much else going on, I'd expect nothing less.£25 doesn't buy you much these days.Even a night out at the cinema with your better half can cost more when you consider the travel and obligator hotdogs and popcorn!! So, for me the game is a bargain. Easy to pick up, hard to master. Simple, yes, shallow, yes, but it does what it does very well, and for the price, you can't go wrong if you like this kind of game.Overall it gets 4 stars because while it is a bit short and shallow, it is probably the best example of a sports conversion in a long time.

Just how exciting can a game of table tennis actually get. We'll quite exciting actually. This game might be simple and lacking in content but it is rather good fun.We get a small selection of characters, a couple of tables and a few T-shirts to choose from at the start. The rest you have to unlock by winning. Not as easy as it sounds. All you get is an exhibition mode nee single match and a tournament. It does have a Live mode for on-line play. The graphics are reasonable and the sound, whilst limited does sound authentic. The colour buttons represent different spins but you can get away with pressing the one button as they seem to do much the same. The opposition will get you to move about though. It may take a bit of time to 'get into' but you'll soon get into some decent rallies and this is where it gets fun. Winning is difficult so a good bit of practice is needed. You're not gonna get months of continuous play out of this but it is perfect for the odd hour for a change of game style. It is similar to the sort of game on Arcade. Keep an eye out for a sequel when Natal hits the shops. This game was made for it.

Table Tennis is a lean, straight-to-the-point game that captures the essence of table tennis exceptionally well. It's a super fun, incredibly addictive, surprisingly focused and smartly designed game that's totally worth the cash. The actual sport has been handled very well. It's meant to be played with a friend or online. If I just reviewed the actual gameplay mechanics and that's it, this game would have received a higher score. But as a single-player game, it's underwhelming. As a whole package, it's disappointing. There are no extras here. There is no real career mode, no mini-games, no doubles games (and I understand why). As a game design it's clearly simple and lean, and while that was the point, you can finish this game in a few hours. It's just too short and lean for some peoples tastes. If you want a table tennis game that's strictly focused on great mechanics and addictive gameplay, but that lacks a reasonable single-player mode and is shockingly sparse, Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis is your game. For £39.99 and a few good friends around, you'll have a blast.

Table tennis... what can I say, not exactly the first game I'd choose to buy! Who wants to buy a game solely focused on a sport where two players wallop a tiny ball across a mini table (with, dare I say, an even smaller net!). Not me! Not when there are so many other sports games out there. That is, until I actually saw this game. The clue is in the developer... Rockstar. Yes the same guys who brought us classics like 'Max Payne', 'The warriors' and of course The 'GTA' series. These guys are producing some of the best games around at the moment and, from what I've seen, table tennis will be no exception.11 characters to choose from,19 venues and some amazingly addictive gameplay from the moment you pick it up.If you don't believe me take a look at any games magazine on the shelves, they all agree, this may well be the sleeper hit of the year. This looks like the perfect game to play with your mates after a session at the pub!I urge you to take a chance on the game. I seriously doubt you'll regret it.

Great, great game! The most impressive "realistic" graphics I've ever seen.I was a semi-professional table-tennis player, and believe me this game, really simulates the real tables. The cloth movement from the players t-shirts is something that has to be seen to be believed.Soundwise is perfect, good taste at its maximum level - kudos RockStar!About the gameplay: this is not an easy game, but as this is mostly a multiplayer game, be it online, or off-line with buddies at home (great, great!!!), the single-player games had to be somewaht challenging. Also in the review from "downstairs" friend, he's right, oponents tend to play better, and do less errors if they're loosing, but that's real life, excellent AI!But..., if one gets really, really annoyed from loosing too much, there are some "cheap tricks" one can use, and beat even the hardest AI controlled oponent! It sure was nice..., I felt good, even if it it was a CPU!

The premise that the simple ideas are usually the best ones is correct. This is even more appropriate for this game. Who would have though that knocking a virtual table tennis ball about would prove to be so addictive? As soon as I picked up the controller I couldn't put it down. Going bed at 2.30am and getting up for work at 7am four days on the trot doesn't help things. But as with all great games the more you play the better it gets. You learn as you go whether it is tactics against computer-controlled players, which you can use on Xbox Live, or new shots. The only down side is the longevity of the game. Once mastered will you want to carry on? Hence one star will be knocked off. Then only saving grace might be tournaments on Xbox Live in the future. But then will the standard be too high for an old fogey like me?

Firstly I want to say that is is very rare thata you see a game coming out on the XBOX 36o at such a cheap price, that helped as I wouldn't have bought it if was the usual £50 or so. However now I've played it I have to saya if I did pay a full £50 it would have been money well spent.I am a hard core gamer, I have probably had evry console ever made and only the ebst games. This game came to me as a massive surprise, it is so addictive.Game play takes getting used to but then you're gone. Hours can be spent having a rally with friends. The game does need one extra component though, you need a freind to play with it. If you playthis game with a freind it is probably the best game ever, but by yourself it's a bit ropey. The lack of one player playability is the only reason it got a 4 star overl rating.

Alot of people were very sceptical about this game, how is it going to work? Will it be good? Is it really that appealing? And i must admit i was one of them. Then i picked this game up for a very reasonable price, and it is worth every penny. This game is really easy to learn, but mastering shots and techniques (there are loads of them) is difficult and time consuming, but very enjoyable and addictive. There are plenty of characters to be and many arena's the graphics are really good and the physics on the ball is amazing it moves and spins like a real ball. As the game goes on, your character will go red as they get hot under the spotlights and will start to sweat, all in real time.Overall this is a brilliant game and a sport sim everyone should own.

Basically this game is next gen pong. But when pong came out, it was insanely addictive much like this game. It has a basic tournament structure to play through which is fairly challenging and is very easy to just pick up and play or spend a whole day ploughing through it. Once you have completed the Single player games get a friend round and play them or take the game on to Xbox Live where you can play individual games or tournamnets ranked or unranked, the online play is good but would be even better if i could avoid players with hideous lag as it really does ruin the game. If you manage to avoid the lag the online play is excellent. This game is MUCH cheaper than any other next gen title and is a great game to play online or with mates.

This is a great game to start with but I haven't really played it for a while. My personal opinion is that it's not quite a full game, but better than an arcade game which probably explains the cheaper price. It's fun online, but once you've unlocked everything, it becomes pretty boring. Especially since the way to unlock different clothes for one character is identical to another character. So you have to do the same thing with each character; very repetetive. Personally I use it as more of a social game and occasionally set up private tournaments for my friends where we have a good laugh and a bit of fun. In my opinion, this game is more for the casual gamer instead of the hard core competetive gamer.

Be warned this game takes about 20 minutes to pick up and thats it! You will be addicted! Me and my mate played it six hours solid on the first day! When wife got home she took a lot of convincing that we had actually left the room since she left on a shopping trip!(We did for more beer and crisps!)On a fully dolby digital system (i have 7.1) it sounds great, the graphics are excellent and the gameplay superb. i have not played it online yet.......Buy it it is a steal.Reason for being so cheap so soon...typical 360 player wants to be running around a purple coloured "off world" shooting dragons with some kind of "mega blaster" weapon! "Ping Pong" just aint cool enough!!! Their loss!!!!!
