This is an excellent mouse for the price. Do keep in mind that this a budget product, and the entry model in the SteelSeries Rival line. It doesn't have the best sensor that they produce, but the casual gamer who just plays FPS, RTS, etc. isn't going to notice the difference. If you were serious or hardcore, you probably wouldn't even be looking at this.Though absent of rubber pads on the sides for you to grip, it instead has bumpy textured plastic which your fingers can hold just fine. I haven't had any issues with it slipping out of my hand. My thumb and ring finger (or pinky, if you want 3 fingers on the buttons) grip it fine even without rubber pads. It's light enough to easily pick it up and even in the air with a very gentle grasp it doesn't slip. The top of the mouse has this nice soft touch plastic material that feels quite nice in your hand. It isn't rubber or anything particularly premium, but it feels nice. There are only two very drawbacks that stop this from being a five star review. Firstly, the fully programmable RGB LED lighting in the palm area & scroll wheel doesn't transition quite as smoothly in any of the colour changing modes - ColourShift (a spectrum), single colour breathe, multiple colour breathe, or disabled. This is probably just due to SteelSeries using a slightly cheaper part than the higher end models probably use. I have the LED set to one solid colour without a breathe effect, and it's fine. The second minor drawback could be the ergonomics. If you have large hands or you play for extended sessions (I mean hours and hours), you might find the shape awkward. It doesn't have that nice concave curve for your thumb to rest in that helps with extended use, and neither is it quite as large as it perhaps could be for people who have larger hands.Ultimately though you have to remember that this is (a little over) half the price of the next model up, the Rival 300, and much cheaper than the models above it. If you're on a budget and just want a functional mouse so you can play a few hours of your favourite FPS or RTS here and there, look no further than this.

After using the high-end and low-end mice over the years, I've never given SteelSeries a try so I decided to purchase this mouse hoping it was good and I was impressed.GENERAL LOOKThis mouse has a nice slick look to it, with the colored logo flashing various colors on the front and the rubber grips on the side. The SteelSeries Rival 100 has a nice design and overall, very nice to look at, even when not playing any games. However, you can program up to 6 buttons on this mouse and you can also adjust the DPI depending on your needs.EXTERIORUnfortunately, this mouse does not have a braided cable, instead just a normal wire to connect it to your device. This is one of the only downsides I can find with the mouse and the fact it doesn't have a braided cable will not affect your gameplay.SOFTWAREThe software aspect is where the Steel-Series mice beats the competition by a long shot. In the past, the Razer software is aggravating and difficult to use and the Logitech software is slow and unresponsive but the Steelseries Engine is simple and responsive with configurations, macros and lighting. While the included 'Gamesense' option wasn't for me, due to the fact that none of the games I play are compatible and that I won't look at the mouse while playing CS:GO, the overall mouse software is a breeze to use, and overpowered the other downsides to this product.IS IT WORTH IT?Definitely. For the price tag, this mouse beats all the others by miles.

Paid £12.70 for this, deal+student discount, I needed to replace my Steelseries Kana which began to die after 3 years of use. I thought I'd go for steelseries again because my last one lasted so long, and imo they're the best looking mice available at the moment. It's alot smoother than my Kana, glides around the mat very nicely. The side buttons click is perfect imo, some people are complaining it's stiff, but I don't feel like I can accidentally click it like I did all the time with my Kana which was oversensitive. Lights are cool, that's all I can say about that, you can make it match your setups colour scheme. I still can't believe how cheap this was compared to my Kana and it's so much better. Will update if anything goes wrong with it. The only con is that the wire isn't braided like the Kana, but I can't complain for the price.

The best gaming mouse I've had so far. I didn't feel like dumping £100 + for a gaming mouse, and this one, to my knowledge, has one of the best price to quality ratios. The laser is very good, the mouse itself is comfortable and has just the right amount of weight. It has only to extra side buttons, but for me, it's enough, since I mostly play FPS games, and this mouse is probably aimed mostly for FPS. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the laser is limited to certain increments of DPI (250, 500, 1000, 1250, 1500, 1750, 2000, 4000), so you can only choose those sensitivities and nothing in between. But if you're looking for a good gaming mouse without spending too much cash and you don't need a lot of side buttons, this is one of the best options.

Bigger than expected, but still suits my playing style as used to play with a claw grip using a mini mouse so this is a nice change giving a bit of rest, but not too big to be able to throw around easily! The buttons give a satisfying click and aren't too heavy, although the side buttons could do with being a bit thicker they are taking a while to get used to as are relatively thin.Overall a good gaming mouse, build quality is excellent so far, really like the soft touch top and the striped plastic effect sides give good grip even over long periods of Battlefield 4.

After just over a year it’s held up pretty well. For the under £20 I spent on this, it’s really quite good, with solid sensor performance, great shape (for me anyway) and just overall more than I expected for the £17 price tag. With the software, it’s really easy to setup macros/change buttons around, and change the lighting with the steelseries software. The software is user friendly but the only issue I have (I do not know if it’s with other steelseries mice) but I cannot set a custom dpi/cpi but can only drag around a slider to set dpis

I have had many gaming mouses (mice? meeses?) some expensive and some cheap. None of them made me shoot better. This mice works better than most; the 2 corsair mice and 3 RAT mice I had all failed after about a year, usually one of the buttons went, in fact, the corsair mouse that I bought at the same time as this developed a button flaw where it would occasionally mis-click. After my experience with this product, I will be buying steel series mice in future.

I've had this mouse for about 2 years and I can't recommend it more, feels great to use everyday and I see nothing wrong. One problem that I have had tho as seen in the pictures is that after 2 years (this only happened recently) the outer, soft, matte layer has stayed to peel away and in one place I covered it with electorial tape, anyway that was probably something I did and I think it's time for a new mouse anyway. 10/10 can't recommend anymore

This mouse is well made and has good rgb lighting that can be turned off and altered through the Steelseries Engine program. I use this mouse for many fps games including quake, csgo, overwatch, and many other fps games that you need a good mouse for. The sensor is very accurate and has no artificial prediction which is great for playing fps games and the mouse shows no visible input lag. Overall this is a great mouse for the price.

I purchased this mouse in 2016 and after many years I am still amazed that it still works! After many clicks from csgo, league of legends, overwatch. This mouse has been through it all. I dropped it many times and bashed it a few times from rage. Basically it has been used and abused lol! Overall very nice and simple mouse, perfect for gaming.

Right click button a lille hard to use, might be me just trying to adjust from a very flat previous mouse. The driver installer cannot be saved in a hard drive of you choice, the installation wizard gives no options to choose where to save it so I can't use the software to adjust my dpi to something preferable.

This mouse replaced my Redragon mouse, which I wasn't too happy with. Everything about it is near perfect, and the price point is amazing. The Steelseries Engine 3 software works well with the mouse, and has some cool lighting effects.

25.11.2016

The best Gaming Mouse you can get for 20 quid. Absolutely worth it. The build quality is perfect light comfortable and quite good for my big palm. Go to Steelseries Offical Site download the perfect Engine software and have fun.

The colour options are very cool. You can reprogram any button using the software. The only small issue is that you can only increase sensitivity in predefined steps, so I cannot change it to 800dpi which I am used to.
