Firstly I have to commend Amazon on exemplary customer service. The banjo arrived and after three weeks, I noticed that a tuning problem was due to defective manufacture. One of the frets wasn't set fully so one of the strings caught on that fret for the three previous notes.I thought I'd passed my return opportunity, had to travel, so after 30 days or so I contacted Amazon to see if I could contact their supplier with photos of the defect. They advised to return the banjo, notwithstanding that I was outside the return period, and sent an immediate replacement.I couldn't ask for better. When the replacement arrived, it was damaged. I should have returned it.However as the damaged part was exchangeable I simply swapped a part on the first banjo with that on the second. Instead of two damaged banjos, I returned one banjo with two defects. The banjo is inexpensive, and while the fretboard is nice, the rest of the instrument has a very cheap feel. The metal components are about as thin as they could be and the tuning pegs aren't flush and the plastic is cheap.I've a Barnes & Mullins banjo which is more expensive, but not much more, and has nicer tone, and much nicer finish.(I need two banjos because I work overseas and it's easier to have a banjo at home and another away)It's worth the money, but £50 would buy a much nicer banjo. If you're learning, this is worth buying. If you improve and want to trade up, you won't lose too much selling this one second hand. you could look at the loss on the sale as the cost of renting it for a year or two.

I've been looking for a starter Banjo for a while and settled for the Stagg BJW24DL 5 String, when it arrived at the top of the neck the wood was cracked, returned to Amazon and got a replacement in a couple of days. This one was in full working order and I am very happy with it, once tuned makes an excellent sound.Update : I have been using this Banjo for 10 months now... and I am extremely happy with "Betsy" as I call her ! she sounds great for a Banjo of this price and I've had no problems with durability.. gone through "Grand Fathers Clock", "Duelling Banjo's" and other rolls & techniques, great for a first time learner like myself.Fit's perfectly in the Stagg BJ10-BAG Bag for 5-String Banjo- Blackhttps://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00144GT0G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1And if you want to wall mount it, this works a treat with the Hercules GSP29WB Wall Mountable Guitar Hanger - Wood Basehttps://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B006JZPTYM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1If not, it sits well with Kinsman Wooden A-Frame Acoustic Guitar Standhttps://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0012EK5CG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1I read recently that Ukulele and Banjo sales have risen in the UK, specifically Ukulele's, however if you want that Banjo sound I recommend the Countryman DUB Open Back Banjolele Ukulele Banjo, excellent.https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00EHE6SCE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Attached is a picture of them both..Countryman DUB Open Back Banjolele Ukulele Banjo

This is a solid instrument for those, such as myself, who wanted to experiment with the banjo. It looks very pleasant, and is generally built to a good standard. It is a bright, loud instrument -- though this can be tempered by removing the resonator, a simple enough process, or by improvising a mute. The rosewood fretboard is decent, and all the materials feel secure and unlikely to break when used by someone as clumsy as me.The only criticisms I have are ones to be expected for an instrument of this price:-the strings that come with it are awful, so I went out and bought some elixir strings which were not only nicer to play one, but also produced a more friendly tone;-the tuning pegs are pretty cheap. They generally hold the tuning, but can be imprecise to turn, and occasionally slip. I plan to replace them at a later date, as it's relatively inexpensive;-there's also no setup guide. However, you can easily find out online how to position the bridge etc.I recommend for people to by some metal fingerpicks and perhaps even a case with the banjo. It will make your life much easier. For a budget instrument, however, you can't ask for more. For complete beginners -- that is, people with little to no music experience generally -- this will be a fantastic instrument almost straight out of the box. For those like myself who already play other instruments, investing in some new strings and pegs will make this a greater introduction to the banjo (especially if you can pick it up used for under £100 as I did).

Well made and good sound for a cheap instrument. The banjo was rattling around in the packaging and I would recommend the seller use a little more packing, especially in the inner box, to better protect the instrument. Having said that it did arrive in good condition. You need to be able to set up the bridge yourself as comes with the bridge lying flat (which is better protection for the head). The wood of the fretboard was very dry and the strings on the instrument were poor, showing signs of rust between the bridge and tailpiece. As I needed to replace the strings, I also oiled the fretboard and tweaked the truss rod slightly to reduce the bow in the neck - there should be some bow there, but a little to much for my taste. Now all I have to do is learn to play it!!!.

This was my first banjo, having wanted one for ages. I read some of the previous reviews which varied wildly. I have to say that I opened the box not knowing what to expect with any certainty, but was absolutely delighted. The look, feel and sound of the banjo (alright, maybe not the sound, but I'll get there eventually) were amazing. I love it to bits and don't want to put it down. There was nothing to tighten, assemble or worry about. The only thing I did was move the arm rest round a bit, but this was hardly rocket science and only needed an 8mm spanner. I couldn't recommend this instrument more, go and buy one. My only disappointment has been finding that the banjo scene in Deliverance was faked.Absolutely crushed....

I bought this Banjo as a learner.I didn't want to spend a huge amount of money but at the same time if I buy the cheapest Banjo I can find, well that could put me off....and that's what made me look at this model. I wanted something that wouldn't cost the earth (I can always spend a fortune later if I find I really love playing bluegrass!)It's a lovely musical instrument. A nice narrow neck with quite an easy action on strings. Im no expert but the sound is really nice. V pleased!

Unlike many other reviewers, we received a banjo with the Stagg label, and it was completely constructed except for putting the bridge in place. This was bought for my 13-year old daughter who also plays guitar and ukulele. The banjo is gorgeous to look at, and appears very good quality. We tuned it a few times in the first couple of hours, which is normal for new stringed instruments, and she quickly picked up a couple of tunes. I'm very impressed with it so far.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my 17 year old son, I know nothing about banjos. The information provided by the seller was very informative and so I felt confident that I was buying the right one, I was not disappointed. The delivery process was very smooth, I was even e-mailed on the day giving me an exact time and it was 100% accurate. My son has not been able to put this beautiful banjo down and he is thrilled to bits with it, therefore so am I!

After I read all the reviews, I decided to order this banjo. I was a little bit anxious because I read about broken pieces and the poor quality of the snares. The banjo arrived early and everything was perfect! The snares are of good quality and the banjo looks exactly like on the picture. I bought it as a gift and my boyfriend plays it every day! It has a lovely sound and is perfect for beginners.

I have to say after reading some of the reviews I was a little worried about ordering but I took a chance, and it payed off. It came in one piece no marks on it and with stagg printed on it. It yet has to be played as its a Christmas gift for my boyfriend but I am sure he will love it. It was also dilivered within 3 days of purchase the fastest I have ever received any order.

Bought this is a Christmas gift for hubby, he already plays guitar and had talked for years about a gbanjo. this one fulfilled his needs, as a *learner* and hes delighted with it, i know others have said they didnt get instructions with it regarding bridge, strings etc. but he had no problem and there we lots of videos on youtube... for the price,, excellent value for money!!

Banjo arrived on time and well packaged. You have to put the bridge up yourself, I assume this is normal but its a little daunting for the first step. Other than that I think its a very beautiful thing, it is well made with high quality wood, it also sounds good to me. I would recommend without a doubt and I am looking forward to playing it for years to come.

When i recieved my delivery i opened the box and was met by a beautiful sight. But, as a very new owner who has never had one before, i was confronted with having to bolt on the arm rest without the proper tools as the one supplied was too small for the nut, and there was no novice set up booklet which would have been helpful. The banjo is wonderful though!

I have wanted a banjo since I was a child and eventually got round to purchasing this one. I'm amazed at the quality of it considering the cheap price. The sound is beautiful and for a complete beginner such as me, the strings are not hard to fret. It has hooks on to attach a strap and it stays in tune between playings. I'm very happy with it.
