Firstly, the previous review was pretty much accurate, and helpful. I have given a further star, which relates to the price paid (around the same as the earlier chap), and expectations for the money. I had to remove the neck (easily done - undo the four screws about half way, and tidy your strings out of the way) and put a small piece of business card at the far end of the pocket behind the screws to reduce the neck angle a bit. I tried a bit of an old plastic card, but that was too thick (a little goes a long way). That did the trick. I could raise the saddles back to pretty much full height and still have a nice low action (with enough room for bends). Pickups are, as stated by the other comment, very hot!. I've lowered them as far as I can as I'm not a metal head (cool blues / jazzy stuff). But similar to previous chap, I'm changing them - for Alnico Vs after I do some serious comparison with an american strat. In summary, I would be more than happy to give this to a beginner, AFTER, setting it up. Nothing you can't do yourself (internet is fab) Chunky, vintage style, maple neck, with a glam, late 50s colour (Fiesta Red - Strawberry Pink, my wife says) :). After a few days, I now love the colour. It seems solidly built. Haven't yet opened it up to do my pickup surgery - but that wouldn't concern a beginner.

The picture is wrong and this is a blue stratocaster not a telecaster. But upfront the blue Stagg SES50M is a very, very good stratocaster indeed. It is beautifully built and it looks great. It is built from solid alder and has a hard maple neck. It is put together nicely. It is set up to play out of its box.The electrics comprise five way switching and a volume and two tone controls. The pickups are described by Stagg as "sensors". I'm not quite sure what that means but they sound very, very good. This guitar looks gorgeous and plays beautifully.I have been a guitarist for 40 years and have been setting up and repairing guitars for the last 20 of those. The quality is far superior to the Squier Affinity series guitars which retail around the same price. The tone is far superior too. So if you are a guitarist on a budget you cannot go wrong with one of these.

Nicely finished, high quality D'addario strings. Good sound, low action, easy to play. Nicest low priced strat I've owned. Be warned though, the amazon product picture is actually for the Tele style guitar (SET-CST) this guitar, the SES is a strat, vintage style with aged pickguard
