This is a neat and sweet little instrument, obviously it is at the cheap end of the market but it has a great worth as a quick and easy introduction to the world of creating music. It arrived promptly, was well packaged and has a quality feel and look to it, coupled with a £5 electronic tuner - you can hit the ground running for £20.I have never played guitar/ukulele before this week but having always found the gentle strum of an acoustic guitar mesmerising - so i decided this year to take the leap - following a number of situations recently where Ukulele have been appearing in my life... a bit like black cats.Once i had overcome the initial need for repeat retuning i found myself being drawnto its simple appeal and within a couple of sessions of basic tinkering i was quickly catching glimpses of the songs i had been trying to play without any great effort on my part. This was actually very exciting as i hadn't wanted to take learning too seriously - keeping it fun from the start was an important basic in my plan.( One thing that has helped me a lot was to cut up a cereal packet into 3"x4" pieces and with a thick marker pen draw out the initial chords that i found i would need onto them. Positioning these within my field of view at home i found it a great help with quickly remembering the shape and position of these )It is a tremendous feeling to now find within a few days i can form chords and create parts of some basic songs, it is a really great incentive to find that it can be easy and enjoyable from the off, without prior musical experience being needed or any serious type complications. It is well worth having a quick flirt around various websites and youtube clips to pick up a variety of tips from different sources - they all offer different angles on the same thing. When you consider how easily £20 can slip through your fingers nowadays this Ukulele is excellent value - and may prove to be a great creative investment.:o)Update - 26th JanHaving visited a number of uke sites and read numerous reviews over the last week i have taken the plunge and fitted 'Aquila' strings, it has brought about an immediate improvement/softening of the sound - much less 'plinky' . Well worth the investment ( and you can make a spare uke with the old strings - check out the 'instructables.com' site for funky ideas.Watch out for the C string when fitting it as is the thickest can be awkward to tighten round the bridge. One good tip i found is to tighten the strings after use then retune them when you are due to use it, the tension helps the strings stretch.Have fun!

I first of all leart how to play the guitar, and being a rock god, i thought it suitable to fit my rockstar career by learning yet another instrument to add to, what was and even more so now is, a spectacular array of musical talent. When i first began to learn, it was simply out of a small book i found in a closet, But it soon became apparent that it was far easier than it appeared to be. I very quickley picked it up, and now, i am amazing at this instrument too! Is there anything i cant do?Of course, i picked green as i was high on weed at the time, and they are both the same colour. Also, i picked green to encourage jealousy in you lower class swone who can only dream of my talent.*Spits at*I wouls thouroughly recommend this product, although it has not arrived yet as i write this reveiw, i know it will be acceptable, as for such a small few it is available to all those who wish they were as good as me at music and as well as that, it comes with a Case, so it is easily transportable, on top of the miniscule weight of it.In my perfect, amazing, wonderful, talented, spectacular (the list goes on and on) eyes, this is an ideal instrument to learn as it is not overly complex, and it has a low price, unlike guitars which can cost up to a million pounds to get a poor starting one, let alone a nice guitar, so it is good for all you gypos and chavs who need something to do to take up you boring dispicable lives.Very Best learning Ukelele,The Guitar God.

I have had a Mahalo soprano ukulele for around a year now for me they are unbeatable in price and quality of sound I have had many other ukulele's ranging from a rocket music melon shaped uke, Tanglewood union series soprano uke, Stagg soprano uke, Mahalo electric telecaster soprano uke and many others ranging in price from £17 to £80 and I keep coming back to this Mahalo soprano. Although I now have concert size ukulele's this is still the first thing I reach for I love it. I did have one problem with the cosmetics on mine where after playing for an hour my fingers were black because the paint on the side of the fret board (not on the actual top part of the fret board)had come off but I simply rubbed the sides until the paint had gone which after doing that I realised that the plain wood underneath was varnished so I think it was maybe a factory error and after production they painted black ontop of the varnish to make it look pleasing but this did not affect the sound what so ever and actually looks nicer as plain wood.the only thing I would say to people buying them is order some Aquila Nylgut strings and replace the stock ones as soon as you can it makes this uke a whole lot brighter even someone who has never picked up a uke will be able to hear the difference the stock strings are terrible and I mean terrible that's why I am giving it 4/5 stars but saying that with Nylgut strings you wont be disappointed.

A few months ago I seized on the idea of learning to play the ukulele. I'm a drummer and so I'm cursed with the terrible affliction of "drummers hands". This is when your fingers are so short and stubby that they only just fit around your sticks and when you try and play guitar all the guitarists in your band laugh at you. In a flash of inspiration I suddenly thought of the ukulele; something with a childsize fretboard for my miniature hands. After browsing for a while I chose this one and I think it is a wonderful little bit of kit.Pros:* A great action on the fretboard. The string height is low enough that you don't have to push them so hard onto each fret until the ends of your fingers bleed.* A nice, clean tone for the price. (Just remember, it's not a £1200 mahogany piece that's been wept upon by baby unicorns or anything like that.)* Proper machine heads. None of this detuning friction heads malarky.* A great paintjob that also has the added benefit of being drool proof.* Cheap!Cons:* When played a little hard the strings sometimes slipped out of the grooves on the little white bit at the bottom of the head. Although this could be down to me being a drummer and having the philosphy of PLAYING EVERYTHING AS HARD AS I CAN.* You will still get laughed at by the guitarists in your band for playing, what they think is a child's guitar.Thank you.

Just received this uke today, and am already suckinbg the ends of my fingers - I just can't put it down!!At this price, I was expecting a cheap-looking 'toy-like' instrument, but I have been happily amazed!! It looks beautiful and plays well, with great tone and volume. Okay, the strings are cheap, and will be replaced this evening by Aquilas, but even with the original strings this instrument has a lovely warm tone. For a beginner's instrument, I find it hard to believe that there could possibly be a better one out there - this little gem is a fantastic inexpensive 'starter' ukelele, very easy to play, and it won't break the bank. For anyone learning a new instrument or just looking to practise without spending a fortune, this is definitely the answer! It came very well packaged from Normans - safe and sound, and extremely rapid delivery, even though I live in the 'deep east' of France!Already (seriously, within five hours!) it has given me the urge to take up the uke on a more serious basis (I am a fromer pro violinist and pianist, looking to expand my instrumental repertoire), and my fingers will no doubt be bleeding by tomorrow morning!!If you have any doubts at all, get rid of them!! This is an absolute MUST!!! If I could give it more stars than 5, I would!!!

I was surprised how cheap it is to buy a ukulele! Really good value for money considering the hours of fun you get out of it!(Tip: Sometimes different coloured Mahalo ukulele's on here have different prices so if you're looking to get the best deal and aren't fussy about the colour, it may be worth comparing prices of the different colours.)This was the first stringed instrument I ever bought and I was really happy with it: great price, nice sound and it was surprisingly easy to learn thanks to youtube videos and some great websites out there. It also doesn't hurt your fingers as much as a guitar does which was a nice surprise. Super-light and pretty small, it's easy to carry with you to festivals,meet-ups, camping trips etc.My only "con" point would be that I feel like the white nylon strings could be slightly better quality. The strings feel and look like they belong to a cheap-ish ukulele rather than a really expensive one - but then again, it *is* a cheap ukulele :) so perhaps expecting more would be expecting too much. And, it still has a good sound, is sturdy and is fun to play with, and that's the main thing!

When i first brought this uke i knew very little about them so i looked for a cheapish one that i thought i could learn a few songs on. This uke is good quality if you want an inexpensive ukulele to try and learn some songs or just muck around with. i brought this uke in 2010, it now being 2012 i still dont know how to play a full song but i put that down to personal lack of motivation haha i know how to play some bits and peices though and i learnt to on this uke. its great for beginners its not too complicated, its not expensive at all and if you want a reasonable quality ukulele that sounds good and is robust this product is for you.if your a seasoned pro ukulele player you may want to see some other ones as this isnt complex and althought you can play music nicely its not for proffesional use by any margin! overall its a good ukulele thats perfect for beginners, if you want to get this for children i reccomend it i have a 8 year old brother who loves mine to bits and is constantly asking to play with it!TLDR: good uke for beginners not for pros good quality and okay sound.

I bought this ukelele for my 2 year old daughter, to distract her from my guitars. Rather than distracting her from putting my other string instruments out of tune, I have now become a ukelele addict and frequently find myself wrestling this small pink ukelele from my daughter in order to learn a few new chords. I plan to start a band called "Tactical Nukelele" and play movie theme tune covers on the mean streets of Glasgow's East end.The ukelele itself is great for the price and comes with a matching pink "gig" bag that I will make great use of when on tour. The ukelele also comes with a few chord suggestions on a small card attached round the neck so you can expect to be able to play every Bob Dylan song recorded in a matter of minutes with these three or four chords. It is available in other colours if this pale pink is a bit too "rock" for your tastes, but the finish is glossy and the "axe" is easy to tune with four plastic pegs that manipulate the nylon strings to make the kind of sounds that any hula party would find at home.Great purchase!!

This is the first Ukulele I have purchased with no previous Ukeulele playing experience.First of all, this Uke does stay in tune after its been used a few times.I have a guitar tuner which does tune this fine. I believe it will depend on the type of tuner, I have to set mine to bass to get the 'C' note tuned, but no issues apart from that. The body is gloss with Nylon white strings. The strings do look and feel a little toy like but sound fine for a beginner Uke.The Uke comes with a thin bag. It will keep the dust off, but not protect much from impact/damage.This instrument does not contain much help to assist you in learning to play. No information other than a small tag which shows you 3 chords.Because of this,I found 2 things to improve it's use:-1. Google image search: Ukulele chord chard and print off for reference.2. Youtube beginner lessons. There is loads of fun support to get you into the world of Ukulele playing.Happy playing.

I bought this knowing it was fairly cheap, and not expecting much in the way of quality, but I was pleasantly surprised. The build quality seems reasonable and the tone is pleasant. The strings took a while to settle in (like all nylon strings), and needed tuning extremely regularly at first. But this improved over the course of a week or so of playing and once they'd settled in and stretched properly they now hold their tuning well and don't cause me and trouble.I don't tend to use the case, since I like to leave it out on my desk so I can play it whenever I feel inclined to do so, but the case fits well enough and would offer protection from dust and dirt if you did want to keep it in there.Overall I'm extremely happy with it.If you're a beginner I'd highly recommend it as your first ukulele. Just make sure you do have some way of tuning it (a piano, electric tuner, whatever you prefer), as you'll need to do it regularly at first.

I've always wanted to play a guitar type thing and I know of friends kids that are really enjoying learning about music on a uke. So with that in mind I ordered this one.It arrived on time and well packaged. Having downloaded a free tuner app for iOS, I set about tuning it in. This turned out to take a little longer than I thought it might. This was because after tuning in each string, I found I had to keep going back to strings I'd just done to redo it. For instance when I tuned the 2nd string, I found the first had fallen out of tune, so back I went to retune that, and so on. I've honestly no idea if that's a normal thing or not, but it was something, as a novice, I didn't expect. That said, once it was all in tune, it stayed there, so it was worth putting in the time.Overall, I am pleased with the build quality and finish, along with the promptness of delivery. I'd recommend this item and have done so to a number of my friends.

My son began Ukulele lessons at school and I bought the item because he was very enthusiastic about what he was learning. I wasn't even sure what a Ukulele was but it's basically a small guitar with 4 strings. My son has had a great time showing me how to play. It's very lightweight and the item is exactly as it is displayed. The Ukulele came with quite a lot of packaging I think it could have been better packaged to avoid waste and one of the strings needed tightening upon arrival as it was very loose but I did manage to get it sorted. In the online review although there was a picture of a blue bag with the Ukulele there wasn't any mention of whether this was actually included,I'm glad to say it was but I almost bought a slightly more expensive instrument from another retailer just because it stated a bag was included, so I think it needs to be made clear when your ordering. I'm very happy with my purchase and my son loves it!

This ukelele was purchased for my son who is passionate about music and wants to produce his own. He has been collecting different types of instrument and decided to try the ukelele. After looking on several sites he came across this one on Ebay. I was not sure what to expect as it looked more like a toy to me but it is not.My son has found this to be a very useful instrument. It is a really nice size and the tone is very good. It even comes in a matching case! My son liked the colour of this instrument which makes it more attractive. It is a very nicely made instrument which is easy to play, although he's no George Formby!!. The only down side I would say,is the fact that it needs retuning more than he would like but he is hopeful that this will settle down over time. (No detriment)On the whole this is a good little piece of kit and at a very good price.Highly recommended to all, especially all you budding George Formbys!

I purchased this ukelele because I was keen on learning an instrument and it was a reasonable price. I used it for a few months and I can now play the ukelele considerably better than before. The product is as described and great for beginners. I have recently noticed, however, it does sometimes make a twangy noise - I believe this is because it has been used a lot and needs it's strings replaced. Somewhat disappointing but one should not expected too much for this price. By the time I had noticed this, I had advanced enough to purchase a new ukelele (concert) so it is of little significance. All in all this really is a good product and I would strongly recommend if you are just starting out(buy a more expensive one once you have advanced!).

I am about to teach a class of beginners at the local school and have bought a selection of low priced Ukes for them to play. This Uke is actually very well built for the price; low action, no buzzing. However, the strings are dreadful and the sound is greatly enhanced by fitting a decemt set of strings (Aquila / D'addario), but this adds another £6 or so to the price. Even so, I would rate this as a good entry level / beginners uke when fitted with the replacement strings. Anyone with a bit of playing experience would be better off spending a little more money as you would upgrade in no time, I am sure. For what it is, that being a mass produced, made in China low price point uke,it is OK.
