My daughter is learning the ukulele at school this year and has shown quite an interest so she was looking to buy one for herself for when the school one has to be returned at the end of term. She decided to buy the same one as she has for school but in a different colour (blue) so she bought this. It came from Manns Music and fulfilled by Amazon.It arrived well-packed in an outer box containing the triangular ukulele box inside. The strings were all detuned which is fine, as you don't want it tuned in the factory in Indonesia and then have it suffer a change of temperature that causes the strings to over-tension. I tuned it up to match my own ukulele then stretched the strings (pulling them about 1-2cm away from the frets to settle them in)

I've been playing ukulele for a little while and have been trying to get my brother to play. So I thought what better way than to get him a nice entry-level uke for his birthday last month. I wanted to get him something that wasn't going to break the bank and was planning to restring it with a set of Aquila strings once delivered (from experience I wholeheartedly agree that nice strings on a cheap uke is a much better situation that cheap strings on a nice uke!). This uke already has Aquilas fitted as standard (although they still need stretching and tuning. Don't expect these to be ready to play straight out of the box!). Overall very happy.

My daughter had decided to use some Christmas money to buy a ukulele she found in the toy section of a department store. Very quickly we discovered that even allowing time for the strings to bed in etc, it just wouldn't hold the tuning at all. I can put up with random strumming, but the dischords were slowly driving me up the wall. I returned that ukulele and did a bit of looking around to find one that wasn't too expensive but had better reviews. I found this Mahalo one and was encouraged by the good reviews. My daughter was very into the shiny blue colour ;) When the ukulele arrived, it was much quicker and easier to tune than the previous one. My first uke so decided to go for the cheaper option with better strings. Was dubious to wether a plastic one would sound ok but for the price thought i'd give it a go to see how i got on. Incredibly quick delivery to an area of the uk most companies beleive is only accessible via the dark side of the moon, so very impressed with that. The product itself seems really well made, looks good and (ok its my first uke) but sounds great. Bought a clip on tuner with it which i fully reccommend you do. Bit of a poor bag but for the price you cant complain, after all who needs the bag if your gonna play it! Will keep the dust off but if you gonna throw it in your backpack for travelling maybe get a better bag.

Great starter ukulele. This is the second one of these I've had. The first one was a few years ago. Mahalo have upped their game a bit with my new 2016 version. I had issues with my previous one of theirs, the bridge snapped completely off the body, thus I sent it back, instead buying a Gretsch duke, which I still have.Forward to now, and I visited a musical instrument shop in my area, noticed that the strings now appear to be aquilla type, and the bridge is actually screwed down instead of good old unreliable glue. So for £20 I snapped it up, ok so it didn't come with a gig bag, but the very fact that strings are good, and the bridge having stability gives this revamped uke brownie points,

After thorough research reading suggestions and reviews, I chose this Mahalo ukulele as my first one. It arrived earlier than expected, in a small plain cardboard box. I'd expected the uke to be small, but this was still a bit surprising and took some getting used to. After tuning it about ten times in a row, it started to hold the tuning quite nicely and a few days later it only needs a little tweak once you start playing. It's light as a feather, easy to hold, sounds nice, has good strings. What more could a beginner want :) Plus it's Ferrari red!

I wanted to learn ukulele for a long time, and I decided to go with this brand since it's bright, colourful, fairly priced and my school provides this brand. I'm really impressed, you get what you pay for with this instrument. It makes a beautiful, normal ukulele sound and strums very nicely. I recommend this for beginners of the instrument. Just keep in mind that it doesn't hold it's tune very well, and hasn't got a protective bag. But if you're considering purchasing this product, I encourage that you do :)

Cracking value for the price and holds a nice sound. For those negative reviews about tuning - yes it doesn't hold its tune for long, but after tuning regularly for a few sessions, the strings stretch and hold their tune for much longer as they are good quality. Either get a smart phone app or a clip on tuner. The tuning is to be expected, and is not a negative, so don't be put off by some of the comments. It isn't a concert quality sound, but for sub £20 it is very very good.

I personally love it. I was hesitant to buy it as my beginner uke after reading some of the comments but I’m glad I did! The sound quality is obviously not great but that’s expected! You can expect £100 uke quality to make music on from a cheaper one - that’s just stupid. My idea is to practice using this and buy a better uke later one. My one holds tune and it’s so much fun! It really is a great beginners uke. Delivered on time too.

Nice Uke, having never owned a uke before i didn't know what to expect for the money but I was delighted. The quality of the finish seems good, certainly as good as my old acoustic guitar, and the tone is lovely. I had to keep tightening the strings as they stretched but that's normal, the machine heads feel very smooth and it seems very easy to play, I think a few of my friends may be getting these as mystery gifts this xmas ;-)

Got this for my daughter. Can be a bit hit an miss when it comes to the finish and quality on lower priced Ukes. Really nice finish and quality no rough edges on the neck all nicely smoothed with a nice feel, no paint spills or blemishes. Lite weight suitable for children. Gears are pretty standard and holding well. Strings and uke give a decent sound. All together nice little uke which she loves the colour of.

This is a cheap Uke. This is good because, well, it's cheap, but don't expect a lovely sound and for it to stay in tune for long. If you want that and a more solid feel, you generally pay for what you get so you'll have to pay more! Kala are great mid-range Ukes, totally worth the extra spend.My daughter like's this one's pinkness though and because it's cheap, you don't mind so much when it gets dropped!

Great quality ukulele. Bought as a Christmas gift and very well received. It arrived properly packed in a box and a plastic shipping bag. After tuning it, it sounded perfect and I was so impressed with the quality of the build which was great. If you're wanting a first time ukulele or a just a new one in general then Mahalo are the way to go. Fantastic brand and never been let down by them.

Love it! The colour is a little darker and more on the mauve side than the pale blue in the picture. But the instrument feels good quality and produces loud sound. I was unsure whether to get a concert ukulele as I'd been advised the sopranos were very small and sound tinny, but I'm glad I went for this, it's what I expected from a ukulele and it's perfect for a beginner.

Good children's starter Uke. Takes quite a bit of time to get it in tune. The tuning pegs are not the most efficient. The ukulele is of a fair to good quality finish. Some of the areas could have been finished a bit better but to be honest at these prices that's to be expected. Comes with a handy little carry case and is a good size for our 2 year old to get him started.
