I have seen some reviews on the Squire jaguar that Amazon, or the reviewer have mixed up and dropped a Jazzmaster review in. So to be 100% sure, this is a Jaguar review. Why is it important you may ask! Well they are two very different guitars, and in a massive way.1. The Jazzmaster has the same scale length as a telecaster of Stratocaster, so a Fender scale length. String are tighter, bit more resistance when you play, bit topeier (if that’s a word).2. The Jaguar has a smaller scale length, like a Gibson. Lighter feel to the strings, plays better with 10’s, the sound is warmer, so basically a very different guitar.I love Gibson’s, I love the scale length, the softness of the strings,it’s not like wrestling with the guitar it’s more a slow dance, but without the snogging. so you can see where this is going, I love the jaguar, and I can live with the odd switches and odd placement of rhythm tone and volume, and those switches, and the horrid shape of the body, and those switches, etc.I would recommend if you like Gibson’s get a Jaguar, if you like Jazzmaster get a Jaguar, and the reason for that is you will enjoy the smoothness of string bends, and it’s warmer tone. Now that’s not to say that the Squire Jaguar is perfect, I’m a gentle player so the strings have not been jumping off the silly saddles, but you will read that the bridge is rubbish and get excited and show off and Bobs your uncle, the strings slip off of the saddles. The bridge has some bazaar system for keeping the height adjustment in place, but they can slip and the whole bridge starts to drop, but you can wrap some insulation tape around the bridge pins and that stops it. There are much better bridge solutions, such as the British Staytrem, They are £65 but might be worth checking out.The trem is great it’s vintage so no ‘Steve Via, Andy Timmons etc Van Halen dice bombing’ but it’s nice and can be very easily adjusted for tension. Again you can upgrade but suck it and see.The quality for this Indonesian made Squire is very good and some minor set up was required, but that’s my personnel choice. Out of the box it was ok.I got this in a flash sale and it was a mistake, yes a compete mistake. I bought a Jazzmaster as I thought ‘that’s what I want’ ‘no one has a Jaguar’ the supplier said there is an issue with the guitar we have in stock a little chip, so we can repair it and send it on tomorrow, or we have another one coming in stock in a couple of days time and we can post that on, so no brainier I waited for the ‘other one’It arrived and my heart sank, it said Jaguar on the box, ‘what the f#&@‘ toys everywhere, pram tipped over, dummy on the floor. But after some calming words from my wife, deep breathing, cup of tea, I took the plunge, opened the box, and unwrapped it. Blimey, really blimey, I was thinking this is totally excellent, surely the thing must be tuned 2 whole steps down, but no it doesn’t sound like it, but why is it so soft. Anyways, the up and down is it was one of those accidents and I love it. I will buy another I know it, and likely will look at a USA, but I’m thinking how can it be any better, why bother. On the pickups, they are fine but will be something I will upgrade, and I think I will go with the Creamery alt rock set, I’ve been looking at YouTube videos, and they sound the best for me. Lots of different types about form the normal names, but these will do for now.

This is was my first Jaguar Electric Guitar. Had Telecasters, Strats, Mustangs, a Jazzmaster recently and finally it was time for the 70’s Vibe Squier Jaguar and at under £400 is hard to say no. Out of the box this thing is beautiful. The paint job is perfect and quite good building quality. It’s setup by the factory at a minimum requirement playability set up so don’t expect it to be perfect as with new guitars things have to settle and adjust from tension of the strings to humidity and dryness. Mine played OK as out of the box. A bit of fret buzz as strings just a bit more lower than it was needed. Other than that the rest was as it should be. Expect a very glossy neck as with all the classic vibes.Pickups sound very good and it plays great. If you are looking for a Jaguar the 70’s Vibe are great and if you are a Nirvana fan even better. Considering the price these guitars are very well made and anyone should appreciate what they get. With minor adjustment or minor upgrades you can make these guitars sound and play perfect to your style. They are worth every penny in my opinion. People mention the Bridge and problems with strings getting stuck or coming out of their place and I can understand the concerns. I haven’t had any problems. Also give the fretboard a good clean with lemon oil as it will make it play better and make the wood not as dry as it is out of the box. Love it

This is the best guitar I have ever owned and that includes high end Epiphones and PRS SE's. The quality is superb and the sound that comes out of it is to die for.
