In their infinite wisdom, Minolta first came up with the locking accessory / flash shoe design to differentiate themselves from the 90% of the rest of the manufacturers that didn't see any need for changing from the hot shoe pattern that had been used for about 80 years...which forced Sony to adopt them as well when they took over Minolta.Having adopted the mew Multi-interface shoe in an attempt to woo back traditionalists, you now need an adapter to get functionality out of your old flashguns etc. This does the trick and is small enough to keep in a gadget bag or even on the item itself so it can be used at a moment's notice. I used this adapter to enable use of my older HVL-F42AM flashgun on a VG-30 camcorder, and it allows me to use TTL metering when in photo taking mode. I would give it 5 stars but the annoyance of having to seemingly backtrack and spend money in order to use existing system equipment loses it a star.

simply put this adapter allows you to use the Minolta Dynax/ Sony adopted hotshoe flashguns to the new standard hotshoe connection. i have a Sony HVL56 flash (dynax fit) from my old Sony a700 (dynax fit) and now use it on my Sony A68 (standard hotshoe fit). It is made of plastic, so you have to be careful with the connecting and disconnecting process. If you drop the camera, it's rogered as it will break into pieces. It also works with my old fitting off camera flash cord.I'm really happy as I don't need to buy another really expensive flashgun and it works flawlessly with my new camera. It also works with the Sony A7 and A6000 series mirrorless cameras which is good if I decide to upgrade atsome point

Really handy for using old style iISO Minolta/Konica/Sony TTL flash extension leads with newer "ni" Multi Interface hot shoes such as fitted to the A77 Mk II or A58.If you have for example an A77 Mk II and want to use a new HVL-F60M with wired TTL, use this product on the camera, use any old iISO extension lead (the Lastolite LS2428 is great as it isn't coiled and doesn't tug), then use the adapter that comes with the HVL-F60M to fit it to the other end of the lead.

The accessory you need if you use an external flash! This will enable you to use a flash with the early Sony three-slot accessory shoe on your newer Sony Alpha camera, which now have a standard shoe (with Sony differences, note the row of small contacts at the front). It works perfectly with my Metz flash on my Sony a58. Well made and good value. Any similar third-party adaptor you see on Amazon or anyBay else is NOT the same thing. Only buy this one!

Excellent little piece of kit saving me the money in investing in a new flash unit. Very light weight and unobtrusive in use. Have to admit that I didn't read the notes that came with it and so got confused with trying to fit it to the shoe on my Alpha 77ii before I realised that there was a protective cover which had to be removed. Good idea though as it protects the connectors when not in use.

By getting this I did not have to buy a new Sony flash for my A7iii. I can use my 15 year old HVL-F56AM Sony flash. I know there are cheaper flashes available now but this flash has served me well and it will be replaced when it dies, not just because it is old.

Although rather annoyed that Sony have yet again changed the hot-shoe for their cameras, this does work very well. I can now use the flashguns that worked on my Sony Alpha 700 with my new Alpha 68.

Great stuff! Does exactly what it's supposed to do - enables the use of Sony flashguns designed for the Minolta style hot shoe, on the hot shoe that Sony has changed to on its latest cameras.

26.4.2017

Does exactly what it says on the box, all the Sony A mount and earlier Minolta flash work on the new flash shoe with no compatibility issues whatsoever.

Having purchased the new sony a77ii it wouldn't work with the sony HVL-F58AM flash but was soon remedied with the sony ADP-MAA and now works perfectly

Allows any previous type Sony/Minolta foot flashgun to work with the new standard Sony flash hotshoe. Holds the gun firmly on top of the camera.

27.1.2015

Does exactly what I wanted it to which was to convert my flash unit bought for a Sony a77 to my new camera the a99 which has the shoe

Two Sony cameras and as usual they change something so that kit is not interchangeable. It is fine for flash fitting and remotes.

29.9.2014

Does what it says ie converts a flashgun to the new fit. Only 4 stars as a bit expensive but cheaper than buying a new flashgun.
