I'm really pleased with this Post Level, yet another product from Silverline that makes DIY easier at a really reasonable price.It is actually bigger than I was expecting, standing at just under 140mm high and with the arms extending out 90mm on each side.The level is made from a very thick and sturdy plastic and should take some considerable use.There are 3 vials (bubbles) of approximately 35mm in length each, these are really easy to read and my tests so far have shown them to be accurate, unlike another reviewer I found them to be very well fixed to the unit and could see no evidence that they may fall out.The inside of the level has four magnetic strips, measuring 75mm x 13mm,

I bought this to put up 12 fence posts, and it made aligning the posts a breeze.The best bit is that it comes with a rubber band, so you can attach it to a fence post (it's also magnetic, I believe, if you've got metal posts), which means that you don't have to fiddle with a spirit level every time you take the fence post in / out of the hole to modify it, which will no doubt happen if you're putting up a fence and need the posts accurately positioned.I'm not usually a fan of Silverline tools, but this spirit level is amazing for the money.Best bit is that the fence posts I put up are actually vertically plumb, rather than leaning around like drunken sailors,

After reading the review from "mcder2005" I decided to set the record straight, pardon the punn.I used it on 8ft - 4"x4" posts at 3 different height levels. 2FT, 5FT, and 7FT. I also lined up an offset square to compare the Silverline spirit level with my 36" level. Both vertically and horizontally spirit levels were the same at all height points. I then got my black and deck laser level and used it as a reference point as well. The spirit level on the Silverline was tighter than a cow's arse in fly season. Conclusion: it works perfectly, if it ain't working for you then you either have a crooked post, your ground is full of neodymium or your hands are radioactive. IT WORKS PERFECTLY !

Was unsure how this level would perform and stay onto post but was very suprised how good it works.It comes with a strong elastic band which goes round the top of the post and hold it tight freeing up both hands. The two horizontal levels gauges at the top make sure the post is straight in both directions left/right and forward/backwards. This product is excellent for inexperienced people like myself who are trying to fit posts as i would not have done as good a job if it were not for this post level.

Simple to use and fits onto the fence post using an elastic band which is also supplied with the level. You can quickly get your fence posts level on all sides which then means you can fix them with concreate. I found using this made the job of replacing fence posts and panels a lot easier and the finished job looked better than I had done previously before I bought the level. It is quite hardwearing. I knocked over a fence post with the level on the end of it and it survived that without any damage.

Very pleased with this level. I use it in the garden for putting in wooden stakes for supporting fruit canes as well as for larger posts to support wooden retaining walls. My posts are actually vertical now when I stand back and look at them properly ! Great price too. Only 4 stars because the 'elastic strap' provided was just a plain old elastic band that quickly deteriorated and had to be replaced with something sturdier. Not really a problem, especially at this price.

Tidy bit of kit and cheap as chips. Much easier than using a spirit level on two faces.Working by myself and holding the unit in place with the elastic band was fine.I put it on the post before I started, then took it to the hole.When the post was propped, I then double checked with my 6foot level before concreting.Those people who crritised it ought to take an apprenticeship and use it for what it is good for.

I have bought quite a few spirit levels in my time. I needed this type to erect a flag pole in my garden, so as to ensure the pole was accurately vertical. This particular SILVERLINE SL05 Post level certainly did the job. I was very pleased with it - excellent value too. Although I only needed it for erecting the flag pole, it can be put to use for other applications also. Very good investment for such a low price.

As a level it cannot go wrong. The build quality isn't bad, I dropped it a couple of times and no damage at all. The only issue is the rubber band which secures it in use, it stretches very easily and isn't very elastic, after several uses it barely shrinks back. This is fine if you always use it on posts of the same size, but I suspect that after use on a slightly bigger post the band will no longer be any use.

Good price for a solid product. Bought another recently (different manufacturer) that snapped in half because it wasn't strong enough at the cross-section. No such problems with this one, more robust, a good buy - happy with it.Update - so good I bought it twice. Have a lot of post and rail fencing to complete, and these are essential kit for me. In the end have bought another to ensure always have one to hand.

This is a really handy piece of kit to have. Slap it on the corner of your post or block and level it up very easily. The one problem I have with it is that the inserts behind the levels come out all too easily and I have now lost one entirely. I would certainly buy this again, but next time, I'll make sure these are better secured by my own hand before I take it out for general use.

I was worried that due to its small size it wouldn't be accurate but I used it to put up square and round fence posts for a chicken run. Put 4" square posts for the corners and checked after with my 5ft stabilo level and they were perfect, then used it on 3" rounds in-between again checked with the long level after and again spot on. Great piece of kit for a great price

Why oh why did I not know this product existed? It has saved me so much hassle. I no longer hangoff fence panels trying to get the correct level on one or more surface. I have used this on fence posts, trellis panels. fence panels and also on erecting furniture in the house. Love it...and can be used sideways or hanging off the top of an item.

Clever design makes it very versatile. Can be used to check the horizontal and vertical levels of cross-bars,fence panels,stretchers and other timber placements,as well as brick and block-work.Quite sturdily made and easy to use.Amazon price was at least half that charged by retailers or even market traders. Very Pleased.BARGAIN

Great gadget, two things to note. The rubber band you get with it.in my case snapped immediately.I used my wife hair bobbins instead. And it is one solid item and doesn't fold up which is not great for your tool box. Failing all that it does what it is suppose to do. Well made good secure level inserts. So four stars from me.
