I'm a busy gardener and this Silky saw is such a fantastic tool to have. Cuts through thick limbs of all kinds of tree wood with ease! When used properly (cutting with the pulling stroke) makes it effortless too, if you do use it like you would a normal handsaw it will blunt the blades quicker and also make you use more energy than necessary! Nothing better on the market bar a chainsaw. Comfy handle even when used for prolonged periods of time. Excellent to use when climbing trees for minor felling if you do not have harnesses etc to use a chainsaw. I advise to give the blade a clean in white spirit though if used a lot in wet weather or on sappy trees as the residue builds up and causesfriction between the wood when cutting which will get irritating when it starts getting stuck and blunting the blades.

The Silky Gomtaro was recommended to me by a friend who is employed on woodland management. For my part, I perform voluntary work on woodland estates, mainly coppicing, and was after a saw that was easy to use, required little 'elbow grease' and was small enough to work behind previously coppiced trees. For this, the Silky scores heavily over the more traditional framed bowsaws. It also leaves an extremely clean cut giving the appearance of a machined finish.I have deducted one star from the rating as the saw does not lock into the sheaf which protects the blade. I really find this a major shortcoming as it has twice fallen out of the sheaf - not a very good recommendation for Health &Safety!

I have had my Silky Gomtaro for about ten years. It only gets occasional use but it is still as crazy sharp as it was the day I bought it. Suited for cutting green (living) wood it glides through effortlessly. I was a tree surgeon years ago and these were the only make of hand saw suitable in a tree and in a competitive, commercial environment because of their speed and reliability. I would not contemplate any other brand if I were you unless you are planning on making a lot of unnecessary work for yourself.

Silky Fox pruning saws are the best. In a range of lengths, and either curved or straight, you can find one to meet your needs. The toothed blade stays sharp for years. Important to know is that the cut works better on the draw stroke, so unlike a wood saw, you don't need to put your shoulder into it. I know this because I bought my first one direct from the company, and the guy I spoke to told me.

A bit pricier than many pruning knives but worth it if you have a lot of pruning to do. Cuts through quickly with ease, saving effort and stays sharp for a long time. The thing I like most is it leaves a very smooth cut surface and doesn't rip the bark, thus minimizing areas where fungi and bacteria can settle in.

These blades are extremely long lasting and extra sharp,A bit pricey but well worth the cost just knowing it’s going to clean cut every time.I bought two and don,t expect to need the second for about five years,my first lasted seven and it had done an incredible amount of work..First class product

I had to dispose of a large clump of bamboo roots. This saw was excellent for cutting it up into smaller manageable pieces, whereas other tools made little impression on it.

Arrived in very good time, in good condition and was perfect, thanks very much. very nice indeed, is very good. just buy a spare blade with it and store away.

Excellent saw, cuts through thick branches with little effort. Most of the cut is done on the backwards stroke and only a little pressure is required.

This a replacement blade not yet used but it speaks for itself if I'm buying a replacement. It is mainly used by the woman of the household!!

I bought this for my husband and he thinks it's brilliant. He's used it a lot and says it does the job exactly as described.

Straightforward replacement of the original blade took just five minutes to fit. Really sharp, cuts so much better now.
