Having used a Bacho Laplander for a long time now, I decided to purchase a second one for a vehicle emergency kit so I don't have to keep transferring the contents of my outdoors kit.I liked this version because it is more visible when sat down on the ground and that makes it harder to loose. Important consideration for a dedicated emergency kit. After about half a year and quite a few times used, I can confirm the Bacho 396-HP is every bit as good as the Laplander. One of the best folding pocket saws out there, and I have been using saws outdoors since 1977.It cuts on both pull and push strokes so its fast. The teeth are accurately ground with a very precise set.The steel is good quality. The temper and hardening is just right. It can be resharpened with the right tools and knowledge. The hard plastic handle is robust with a tactile rubber overlay and very comfortable to use. I like the blade lock as it locks in the open and closed positions. The slip joint is nice and secure with no movement, and with very basic tools the blade can be removed for deep cleaning, sharpening and/or replacement as spares are available. For twenty quid, you just can't get a better saw.Bacho, one of the few old names still producing new gear that is fit for purpose. Well done.

I bought this pruning saw because of the name, I have other Bahco products and they have always been well made and this saw is no exception, it is sharp as anything and cut large branches with ease it is ergonomically designed so it feels good in the hand whiles also edged slightly in for the cutting angle thus putting less pressure on the wrists, it also folds nicely and when extended clicks into place with no wobble, this saw also comes with a good pouch for storage. You may well be able to buy cheaper saws but I very much doubt you will buy better than this saw.Overall I am very pleased with my purchase and with Bahco for not letting me down.

Like another reviewer, I bought this to render fallen tree branches down to a manageable size for carrying home to burn on the stove. This it does with remarkable ease, even up to a diameter of about 8cm or more. I've only used it on dead wood so far but I imagine it's equally effective on green wood. When not in use it folds away neatly for carrying in a large pocket. I've had no problems with the locking mechanism so far. It wasn't the cheapest out there but you get what you pay for. I've got other Bahco tools and the quality is consistently high.

I am very happy to recomend this Bahco pruning saw, I believe it to be the best folding pruning saw I have used to date.As a professional gardener I love the sleek design fitting well into your trouser pocket, sharp, tough blade that bends instead of snapping which you can easily straighten by putting the blade back in the saw cut.Nice easy to use safety button stopping the sawing folding back up in use, best used with the silver blade not the black one with bigger teeth! A great buy that you will always pick up as you go out to prune!

This is a great little saw with teeth capable of giving a smooth and well-finished cut on trees and shrubs whilst pruning. The cutting action is rapid, and capable of tackling work of a startlingly large size. The sharpness and tapered nose of the blade enable it to make a cut even in tight spots amongst limbs or at the base of coppice stools or shrubs. The hard blade also makes respectable cuts in dead wood, and I found it an indispensable tool for hedging.A very competent pocket-size saw that I wouldn't be without.

Buy loads of products off Amazon and very, very rarely write reviews on anything. However, this item is amazing and deserves a review.Feels very sturdy, the blade locks and unlocks via a safety button and it's unbeliebvably sharp, cutting through tree branches with consumate ease.If considering buying a pruning saw, you may be tempted by one slightly cheaper but, if it's quality you're after, definitely don't look any further than this product.Absolutely fantastic piece of equipment.

This is the second of these which I have bought - the first I have used for many years and needs sharpening. However, both have failed in the same way - the push button release clip. The first stopped allowing the blade to open so I had to wrap wire around the handle to stop it closing completely. This new one - the button broke off completely. Luckily my husband was able to attach a sprung steel band to the button to get it working.

Ok so first thing don't clean this with carb cleaner... It doesn't like it.Second thing is get a carabiner for it so you don't lose it in a big pile of green waste ....Found it again just my advise.I have yet to break these and I have used and reviewed a few. If I was working on just limbs as this is intended. Then I would buy these. If it was for roots and butcher works. Then buy a cheap Laplander

Bought to replace a lost Bahco Laplander. Looks like the same blade, but with orange handle so you can spot it in the grass easier - much harder to lose. Seems to work just the same. Really like Bahco saws - the bow-saw blades are great too. Cut well and stay sharp well too. Recommended.

Brilliant. I have been using the Bahco Laplander for several years and finally bent the tip of the blade. Bought this as a replacement (as recommended by a fellow gardener) and it is wonderful. Fabulously sharp and sturdy.

Lightweight compact and cuts through branches of varying thickness with ease like a hot knife through butter.Really impressed with the sturdy locking system that allows use without snagging or wobbling.

This saw is perfect for pruning shrubs and trees. I use mine to cut walking sticks and I have to say it’s the sturdiest saw I have bought. The blade has so far retained its sharpness and strength.

This thing is like a shark. Put it up against my colleague's much pricier silky saw, this wins hands down for a fraction of the price. Watch your fingers though eh?

Handy little saw which can quickly cut through branch thicknesses up to about 70mm. Good sharp blade which does not bend under load. Opens and closes easily.

I've used these saws for some years now. They work very well but do go blunt quite quickly. Make sure you keep the blade away from any stones!!
