Aquarellum is a lovely idea for little artists. It teaches colour mixing and if used very precisely the colours produced are exactly as indicated. I like the way the instructions do not dictate which colour to use where but leaves it to the child's own creativity. It does take time and careful attention to get the best out of it. If the child rushes through it they could easily use all four picture cards in one sitting. Although the ink bottles are tiny, only a drop or two or three are needed at a time so a little goes a long way. Hence refill packs of pictures are available. A little overpriced I think but if your child takes their time over each picture, it's worth it.

These are beautiful! The outlines are painted using a kind of water repellent mask so are still visible once they are painted making it hard to go wrong really. My daughter is very creative and loved being able to choose her own colours and work out how to mix them (although she is only 5 so she did need some help with the mixing part). She loved it so much she did 3 out of the 4 in one sitting so it would have been nice to have had a few more included (especially for the price). That said, the finished product is lovely and she really enjoyed doing them.
