Before I start this review I just want to say that I have bought this storage on more then one occasion, for multiple devices. I know it doesn’t come up saying ‘verified purchase’ next to my name, but I used a different account to purchase the storages on. I just thought I would clear that up to begin with. Now for the review. I have ordered multiple different storages, of different looks and sizes from Seagate, and I have had no problems with any. To put it into perspective, I have bought their 1 TB hard drive, their 2 TB hard drive, their 4 TB hard drive and their 8 TB hard drive. Not as a test, but for personal use on multiple different devices throughout the years.I feel though that their 1TB to 4 TB models are different to the 5 TB to 8 TB models, as the 5 TB and above models have to be powered by a plug connected to a mains socket. So because of this I am going to be reviewing them both separately in this review.I will start off with the 1 TB to 4 TB models. I believe they all look very similar so I am going off the looks of the 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB storage devices I have from them, and then just assuming that the 3 TB model looks the same as well. With these storages I find they are very compact, quiet and overall fast and efficient as well. They are pricey, but for the money you are getting a very good product with no need to worry about having to find a spare plug socket, or even having to make room for them somewhere, as their size is very small and very handy to keep them out of sight. All that comes in the box for these models is the storage, the paperwork telling you about the setup and how to use the device and so on, and also the one wire to connect the device to any USB 3.0 port. It literally plugs in and away you go. There’s no set up hassle and all that happens once you plug them in, is that a notification will pop up notifying the user that the storage is connected successfully and is ready for use. It works the same on the computer as well as video game consoles. I use mine for my Xbox 360, Xbox ONE and computer mainly, but I think the same setup will apply for pretty much any device that the storages will work with. I don’t think there is much else to say about the smaller model storage device, except that this is a very good device and I would seriously recommend it to anyone that is in trouble and needs some external storage. It is a bit pricey, but I have had no problems with any seagate storage device I have used so far, they have been brilliant! Now we go onto the 5 TB to 8 TB models. The ones which also now start to come with a plug included. These storages are a lot bigger, broader, and pack a serious punch in the way of performance. I do find though that the 8 TB storage does make quite a bit of noise in use and even when I’m not using the device which the storage is plugged into. It still does make a reasonable about of noise. So maybe this what the bigger storages all sound like. But as for the look, like I wrote before the storage is bigger and broader, so it isn’t really the best for hiding out of sight and does require quite a bit of space to put somewhere. But other than that the look is very well done. Very slick and fresh looking. The 8 TB for instance always comes in white with black fan like sides to it. It also comes equipped with two USB 3.0 ports, that can be used to plug accessories into, and they will work just like they would being plugged into a console or computer. I don’t know whether the 5, 6 or 7 TB models also feature the neat finish, and the two extra USB 3.0 ports, but from what I have experienced using all of the seagate devices I have used, is that I seriously doubt that even if they didn’t have the nice look and the two extra USB 3.0 ports, is that they would still look good and perform well.An overall summary of this product points to all good things. Looks nice, depending on the size of storage it can be nicely hidden away, or if you get the bigger storage options then they look more presentable with their nice slick finish and extra USB 3.0 ports on them. Very easy setup, not many wires (only one wire with the smaller size storages and two wires with the bigger size), it is just a overall great product to get without a doubt!Only one bad pointer would be price, but don’t let that stop you from buying this storage, as with this storage the price is right in my opinion, as the storage really does live up to its higher then average pricing.

Having owned an Xbox One for precisely a year, owning roughly 10 games on disc and a few other games which I downloaded with the Xbox One's "Games With Gold" scheme, I ran into a problem where the internal 500GB HDD on my Xbox One console got full. It is definite that other Xbox One users will run into the problem, much quicker in fact if you are an avid gamer. The "Seagate Game Drive for Xbox" was an absolute doddle to install. Simply remove the drive from it's packaging and connect it to your Xbox One console using the provided USB 3.0 data cable. The drive is self-powered, which is an added bonus as no external power supply is required. May I remind you that you do need to format the Game Drive before you can use it with your Xbox One.When you format your Game Drive, you will need to give it a name. The Xbox One's internal HDD comes already named as "Internal", so I decided to name the drive "External" (of which the Xbox One automatically names the drive when you first try to format it, of which can be renamed at a later date as an added bonus).Once the drive has been connected and formatted, you can straight away start using the Game Drive. After formatting the drive, you are given the option of whether you want new games installs to automatically install to the external HDD, of which I opted for due to the Xbox One's HDD only having a SATA II interface as apposed to the faster USB 3.0 interface of the "Seagate Game Drive for Xbox". Also because of this reason, I have transferred all of my old installs to the external HDD.The drive is also very easy to carry around, due to it's lightweight 170g design. As opposed to the "Xbox" branding on the drive, I believe the difference between this drive and the generic Seagate HDD is also the data transfer rate, which is rated at 625MB/s as apposed to just 500MB/s of data tranfer rate on the generic drive. This should result in faster loading times and quicker transfer/install speeds, which is ideal for an Xbox One console where you are always working with Gigabytes of data. This drive is compatible with both Xbox One and Xbox 360, however I cannot see anybody needing 2TB to store Xbox 360 games, due to them not needing installing and updates being much smaller.Because of this drive, my Xbox One console now has 2.5TB of storage as opposed to the 500GB I had before, which simply wan't enough. I highly recommend this product to those who are looking to expand the storage on their Xbox One console (especially avid gamers). Well worth the purchase!

I paid the extra money for this drive simply because the other drives I looked at are typically half the speed and generally for backup only. This drive works perfectly on my Alienware system for the 'every day' stuff and the fast drives I have are used for everything else, but don't assume from what I said that this drive is horribly slow, it is not! While others here seem to generally comment about the XBOX use for this drive I have successfully used it none stop on my PC for transferring stuff that I don't use all the time (pictures, archive video for editing and compiling etc.) and it has not failed in any way.Singular thing I don't like is the wall wart of a power supply that they have. But when you turn off the PC this drive turns off automatically too so it's not really a pain. This drive is USB 2 & 3 compatible and I use mine with USB 3 which as most will know adds a far greater transfer rate. Typically I get about 200Mb speeds or thereabouts (it varies on what the drive is loaded with) and the 'free space in Windows 10 is in reality about 7.2 Terabytes of real storage.Highly recommended compared to other similarly priced stuff and some of the WD drives I looked at cost 1/3 more for USB2... this was by far the best choice for me and I don't care whether it says Xbox on the cover or whether it says peanuts :). Nice in white too, and I also like the USB connectors on the front of the unit for connecting other devices as I seem fit. It's certainly useful for a PC user and it works fine on my XBOX (latest version too, which I tried before using the drive on my PC which was its real purpose of use.

I was somewhat dubious over whether a SSD could significantly improve load times on Xbox, but I have been pleasantly surprised by the level of increase - with load times cut down to half or less in many instances. The design of the drive itself is well-made, stylish and a perfect accompaniment to the Xbox One X. Predominately plastic with a metallic casing on top, the mirror-like Xbox logo adds a touch of style to the aesthetic. But you don't buy a hard drive to look at, its the performance which is most important. Silent in operation, and dare I say (likely) more reliable than a HDD, I would find it very difficult to revert back. The connection type is USB-C to USB 3.0,but if you purchase the standard Seagate SSD it includes an alternative cable (USB-C to USB-C). The unit housing a USB-C connector will future proof the SSD, which will probably be a feature of the next Xbox & PS5. Hopefully the price per Gigabite for SSDs will come down in time, because that genuinely is the only negative when it comes to recommending this product. If storage space is your priority, then a standard HDD is probably still your best bet; but if you would like performance gains for games you play most in your library, then a 500GB-1TB SSD is highly recommended. The next generation of consoles will undoubtedly employ a SSD in some capacity, and I now fully appreciate why that will be the case. So convinced by this tech, I now have my eye on a 2TB version to fulfil both storage and performance needs. Best I get saving...

I understand the usage idea but at the end of the day a hard drive is a hard drive. I have had a 2TB drive connected to my XBONE for the last year, does it work fast and flawless, heck yes. Does it need to be XBOX Green and be branded so? Definitely not.Plug it in, let the XBOX recognise it and it’ll rapidly format it to use. Just leave it connected and you’ll then have 2.5 tb of storage on your XBOX ONE. Haven’t tried it on the 360 as I have not turned that on in some time. TBH I wasn’t aware an external drive would work so there’s a bonus, thought only the ones that slotted onto the top of the xbox would work. Why oh why are they not getting bigger in size? My 2TB drive is now half full and I have circa 20 games installed. There’s no doubt that in a years time it will be full and I’ll have to start deleting games off. This is all good and well for the ones I own on Disk but I’d be annoyed to have to do this to huge digital downloaded content. And let’s be honest this is where things are heading (or will be when they start pricing it better!).Is it worth the price, I guess so but I would compare to other drives of the same spec and speed first. However the drive is quite, no really bright flashing LED’s which some other drives do have. Oh yes I would recommend getting an external drive - just up to you to decide if you need a garish green one…Last point, rubber feet to prevent slippage would've been nice.

My son loves this. He had an Xbox One with only 500GB and was really moaning about needing more space. I had not realised the Xbox was so easily expandable. He had got to the point where it was one game in --> one game deleted. Now he has ample room;. Battlefield one of the larger games takes up about 40-50GB. Once installed gameplay was quick and smooth and he said he had noticed any lag at all on cut scenes. (He still complains about the internet connection but this HD cannot solve everything). For the style conscious amongst you although this device is white and the xbox is black - it still looks fine. The drive case is quite small and only stands a little above the xbox.If you have a white xbox one s then I can imagine they look great together.A slight downer is that there is Dan noise from this similar to the level of the Xbox.8TB is an immense amount of storage. He went from being regularly at 98% full to 4% full henceI will be looking to use it as an internal backup for photos etc especially as we have been connecting the xbox to a nas drive already to use as a media player - now we can store everything on this HD.This drive does come with its own power supply so make sure you have space for another plug under the TV.

Recently, my son has been complaining that he is unable to download any more games on his XBox One as there is no space. With half term on the horizon and the knowledge he would want to play for longer than he is allowed during the school week, I began to look for some way to increase the memory on his console. There are a bewildering number of possibilities on the market, but this seemed to be the easiest. In size, it is about the same size as an XBox One game and it is, indeed, simplicity to use. You simply plug it into the XBox console, give it a name and it installs in minutes. In fact, my son did this himself, with no problem at all. Within a very short period,he had space to download many more games. You plug this in with a USB cable and my son has taken this to his cousin's house and plugged it in to his XBox One console and used it with no problem. You just need to sign in, but it worked perfectly. A really easy solution to the problem, which is extremely portable, and allows between forty to fifty games to be installed (depending on the size of the game). I would certainly recommend it if you have the same problem and are not particularly confident with technology, as it is so easy to install and use.

Bought this hard drive on the 28th October 2018, it failed last week on 4th May 2020. I read on Amazon that there were a number of poor reviews. One review was about going on the Seagate website to download a utility program to test and maybe fix the hard drive "SeaTools for Windows". This showed that the hard drive had failed and gave me a failure code. On looking on the website, you could check the warrenty of your device, to my surprise the warrenty was still valid till January 2021! I filled out a return order form and sent the hard drive off on the 7th May (at my own expense- £5 Royal Mail postage for 48hr sign for). Recieved a brand new hard drive today 14th May!So check your warrenty before getting a new one! Original hard cost me £64.99 now the price is £74.99 on Amazon for same size. So i saved some money, Seagate could have supplied pre paid postage label as it is their hardware that has failed, but I'm still happy about their service, warranty and speed (considering the current climate) at replacing the hard drive. Easy to replace the lost content on the hard drive as everything is synced to the cloud.Check your warrenty!

Even though I ordered it late afternoon it arrived next day. Good start. Very well packed. HDD don't like being posted but this one works perfectly. I'd like to say I plugged it in and it booted up first try, but it didn't. It is Microsoft we are dealing with here. I tried the side usb port on my Xbox one first. Not recognised. I then tried the top one at the back, not recognised. Not looking good. Plugged it into the bottom rear port and it fired up straight away. The o/s new what it was doing and told me what was going to happen. Also giving me a chance to change anything. 2 minutes later I'm transferring all my games from the 500Gb (8 games, 85% disk used) internal drive to my nice new 2Tb lizard green external drive. As the new drive is a higher spec than the internal drive, games load quicker as well. Even with some games needing 118Gb this should last awhile. Don't bother with under 2Tb or you will be looking for another upgrade drive pretty soon, buy the largest storage you can afford. With the price of 2nd hand Xbox One games coming down to £6.99 in some cases it won't take long to fill a drive.

A massive improvement for those who bought the standard Xbox One/ Xbox One S. 2 TB is all that you will need in addition to your Xbox storage to be able to store all of your games without a fuss. Attach the cable to the back of one of the Xbox ports and plug it in and let it sit on your Xbox One (not over the fan!).When you plug it in, format it as an Xbox One storage device when it asks, give it a name and if you want you can set it as your primary device for installs. You can also move games from your library over to it.I took a lot of joy moving all of those bulky, data heavy games like Battlefield 1 and Halo: MCC onto the Seagate device.I noticed that without those games clogging up my storage they ran a lot smoother whilst keeping my smaller games on my main Xbox storage.Bottom line is, it's better to shell out for one of these instead of buying a new console or letting your console slowly burn itself out. I know I will be keeping my Xbox One S for a lot longer with this, and even then it can be used for the Xbox One X and possibly the next generation.

I was tired about managing games on my internal HDD and my two external HDD (respectly 1To and 2TO 2"5 HDD in USB3.0 and the 1To of the internal HDD) because I'm a huge gamer on Xbox One, I have ton of games from Xbox Originals, Xbox 360 and now Xbox One with all the low prices of games in promotion or free with games with gold (for Xbox Live Gold Members, 4 games free every month !) and now with Gamepass it's a lot of game to play ... And I don't want to made choice, I want to play my game now and not waiting it is downloading because I was obligate to delete it to have more space ... so with 8To, you will be quiet untill the next generation ! I allready put all my HDD content on it and I have 4,2 To !It is more speed than a 2"5 HDD, it is well design, just it made a little bit of noise but it's not to high ! For me it's definitively the best solution to storage game on console ! I recommand it ! And I have it for a great price ! 150 euro ! The price of 4To with the double of capacity ! Great !

To use this is so easy, my sons xbox one went from full to empty in minutes , just plug in follow the set up on screen tell it where you want your new downloads and files to go and done, there is still alot of room on the drive itself well over 3/4 empty. The unit itself has a nice short cord so there arent cables draping everywhere, operates from the usb port so no extra plug cords and the unit looks good and the green clearly identifies it for the intended use quickly(good if you have several black drives). The price is only a little higher than for a standard drive (as I write) but for the ease of use software included and the design of it I think that it is a very fair price for what it does.would make a wonderful gamer gift at any time of the year.depending on the type of game you play (ie the smaller 8 bit games) then we think you would potentially fit more than 50 on here.

Segate sell the best hard drives in my option. I bought a 2TB 4 years ago from segate. How technology moves on. The previous one I own is more the size of a small book which you have to plug in by mains. It has all my films on and back up of music still going strong. My hard drive 500GB was now full of games. Do not like deleting. Bought this to add more games on. A breeze to set up. Soon as it was plugged in the x box one ask you if you want to format the drive. Job done. Added the new mad max and batman game that I bought from Amazon as well. Sleek design plug in using the USB on the side of the x box one. I guess this will store at least 50 games on. Perfect. I just wished that sony would do the same on the ps4.500GB is very little space when a game like call of duty, or the Witcher 3 can be 30GB+ the updates.

I won't go into too much detail there are plenty of other reviews here. What I do want to point out though is the difference between this one. (White 8TB Game Drive Hub) and the black version (Seagate 8TB Back up Drive Hub, without the Xbox branding)There is a difference between these two drives. Inside the black one there is an 8TB archive drive, where as this one houses a Barracuda Pro drive. although the differences aren't huge, this one does have a slightly faster read and write speed than the black one. If you were to actually buy the drive that is in this one, it actually cost's more, though it does have a three year warranty compared to just the one for this drive.I only wanted to point out that there is a difference between the two.Since I couldn't find out and ended up buying one anyway just to see.

Unsurprisingly I bought this to go with my XBox one X, and rather than store games on the local hard drive, I store them all on this for easy transportation between different Xbox One consoles. I've got over 100 games installed and it's maybe just over half full, so plenty of storage. It's fast, quiet, and reliable. It's tucked away to I don't get to admire its looks, but it does look nice too with its green and black colour scheme.Setup was a breeze, just plugged it in, it was detected, and formatted as extra storage. Any games I had installed locally I moved across, and then set the Xbox to default to external storage for downloads and installs. Once when I turned the Xbox on after an update,it failed to show the games. A quick restart soon sorted that, and that's not the fault of the drive.
